More that I wish I was as talented as @jeniuswife. As it stands, I really am not all that comfortable with public speaking... which makes me a bit doubtful that I can become a successful computer science professor after I finish my PhD. *sigh* I like the research-side of things, and I want to teach... I just get really nervous when I speak before an audience.
-
@jeniuswife does a good job of being really funny!
-
P.S. If I try doing something like that for my wedding, I think first my fiance might call off the engagement, then my mother would kill me for embarrassing the family. *sigh* Now I really want an SDF-1 cake.....
-
That's cute! I assume your wife is also a big Macross fan? She seems to enjoy showing off your "bigger" Macross toys in those review videos. Makes me laugh each time.
-
I can so imagine @jeniushaving Macross toys as gifts for guests at his wedding. And having an SDF-1 cake just like the one served at Max + Miria's wedding.

https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/86203 Is there even a market for SD Valkyries? I just don't get it...

Xigfrid's Shapeways shop: Arcadia 1/60 hard points
Shizuka the Cat replied to Shizuka the Cat's topic in Toys
Hey @Xigfrid The hard point hole is a little too small to fit the Arcadia 1/60 YF-19 missiles, as shown in the picture above. Though, I think the peg-to-hole size discrepancy is not as severe as compared to the Yamato v2 1/60 VF-1 missiles, from what I can tell. If the design looks good to you, do you think this is an issue with Shapeway's 3D printing process? -
Xigfrid's Shapeways shop: Arcadia 1/60 hard points
Shizuka the Cat replied to Shizuka the Cat's topic in Toys
Hi @Xigfrid So far, no luck... at least, not when it comes to trying to insert either the box missiles or the cluster of 3 missiles that come with all Yamato v2 VF-1 toys. As shown in the image above, the hole in the Shapeways hard point is too small for the box missile peg to fit into. Trying to orient the missiles at different angles to insert them into the hard points has not worked for me. -
Xigfrid's Shapeways shop: Arcadia 1/60 hard points
Shizuka the Cat replied to Shizuka the Cat's topic in Toys
My post was more meant to warn folks about the existing version of the hard points, until a corrected, updated version is available. I know full well that @Xigfridis cool and talented person, so I have little doubt that he will have better fitting hard points available in the future. -
Could be differences in Yen to Dollar conversion rate between PO date and now.

So, I ordered 4 sets of hard points from @Xigfrid's shop on Shapeways (https://www.shapeways.com/product/UFDBSPDWJ/6x-arcadia-hard-points?optionId=65025675), as well as a set of VE-1 booster antenna replacements (https://www.shapeways.com/product/MH8BTPUNP/macross-ve-1-booster-antennas-set-of-two?optionId=81022032). These arrived in the mail today. Unfortunately, these items are all too small. As shown in the picture above, the hard point's outer radius is a bit small, and the interior hole's radius is much too small, compared to a 1/60 VF-1's original hard points. I have had no luck in trying to fit Yamato 1/60 missiles to these Shapeways hard points. Also, for the VE-1 booster antenna replacements, they are loose enough such that they will easily fall out of their slots. I am not sure if this is a problem with the Shapeways 3D printing process or an issue with @Xigfrid's 3D design, but as it stands, I am rather disappointed.

In DYRL M&M dogfight, the head did turn in fighter mode
-
Ugh, having watched the video, I am not a fan of how the legs completely detach in transforming from fighter to battroid mode. Reminds me a bit too much of the Yamato v1 in that regard.
-
I feel the same way. Particularly the fighter mode feels too wide to me, like the legs are too short
-
I don't think the one on the left is the 1/100 Toynami. The fighter mode's front landing gear has a tow bar that I don't recognize on a Toynami.

Define "nowadays"? We actually discussed this topic back in my Japanese anime class at MIT (Yes, MIT had an undergraduate anime elective course. taught by Prof. Ian Condry... fun class). Ranma 1/2, which aired in 1989, featured teenage girls (and the main character who transformed into a teenage girl, a girl who turned into a cat, a boy who turned into a pig, etc.) who were portrayed topless on multiple occasions. Talk about creepy fetishes on multiple levels. And I believe that there were still a plethora of anime geared towards girls and children back then to. Magical Emi in the mid 1980s, Sailor Moon and Miracle Girls in the early 1990s, just to name a very small few. I am not sure things have really changed all that much between back then and now, other than computers being used to animate shows and a lot more media being more readily available and accessible to people outside of Japan, thanks to the internet.

I am guessing that these are bootleg Blu-Rays rather than a Victor Entertainment Japanese release? I don't see the pictured discs listed on CD Japan, and I don't think the Macross 30th anniversary logo would normally be stamped on the Macross Delta disc, given that said show would not have aired yet for a few more years.

Yukikaze? Thanks for the recommendation @tekering From this angle, that plane reminds me a little bit of the MiG-29, though that protruding neck line bothers me. Does it transform? Anyways, I am off to get shower, get dressed, and head over to campus for my last final exam of the semester. Wish me luck!
