Probably be quite expensive to get cast compared to the usual iron. Also aluminum is generally a bad idea for any part that can fatigue, since it will always develop stress fractures eventually. It doesn't have an endurance limit like iron/steel where stresses below a given boundary have infinite cycle life. That said, anodized aluminum would definitely look the best, right up until it got scratched through the anodization layer.

That doesn't really work if they need to be a specific color. If you use a steel part you get your choice of steel color, or horrible flaking paint issues. I'd prefer a plastic part molded in the proper color any day if it's not load bearing. [edit] Also it's not rocket science to get a properly fitted pin joint, really it's not. Even the Yamato issue stemmed from using the wrong type of pin (knurled pin, without changing the diameter to accommodate the knurling).

I just used google translate, it's been a loooooong time since I took Japanese in college. Keep the sentences short, simple and clear; and translate back from Japanese to English to double-check.

I had the same issue, ended up asking Arcadia directly, and they were willing to ship to a Tenso address.

The computer and electronics super geek thread

As someone who is tangentially related to the semiconductor industry (I design packaging inspection tools) this kind of discussion is always interesting. Current chip design, 10nm and 7nm processing methods is downright black magic. Working in fractions of the wavelength used to do the etching. -

Yeah, this is what I'm wondering. Unless you consider buying a license from HG as burning BW?- 498 replies

Normally I have everything routed to the local office. However since I'm mostly working from home currently I've been letting them deliver direct and skipping the drive. Didn't work this time.- 6020 replies

According to tracking they attempted delivery at 1:55, got no answer, and left a door tag. Meanwhile I was sitting at a table by the door, heard nothing, and there was no door tag. So I had it re-routed to the local FedEx office and picked it up today instead...- 6020 replies

Got my Snow White in as well. From DeJapan as a proxy order, rather than through Bluefin (ordered before Bluefin's page was up). Looks great, love the white/grey/gold color scheme.

Sanity is Optional replied to bzdup's topic in Movies and TV Series
Frontier was chock-full of references to just about every earlier series (well, not M2). From Sheryl using Basara's "listen to my song", to the Macross Zero episode, to the similarities in plot and characters to TV. -
No argument there, the TV pilots are definitely too small. Fortunately the DYRL pilots are better sized and don't rattle around in the cockpit.

Not sure how you'd expect to see any articulation advantages when you have them in what's practically a T-pose. Try doing this with a Yamato/Arcadia, and see how good it looks, and how stable the figure is. You get a much wider and more stable stance, plus the feet are more flat on the ground in dynamic poses. Posing my 1/60s was always much more of a pain, and they were far more likely to fall over. On top of the more limited options for posing.

There's a second optional snap bar up near the top of the torso, a little bar that folds out from the back and clips into the cockpit block. (Video at 7:35) Also you can put the legs on with or without the swing bar attached. [edit] Also at 8:50 shows pegging in the plastic clip to the cockpit block, so it's not only being held by the trap-door.

Both. Articulation, appearance, balance. The DX has much more versatile and dynamic posing, plus the sculpt is way better than the 1/48 Yamato when it comes to the torso and shoulders. Oh, and side-cavity and neck fillers, which are at least as good as the Arcadia ones, if not better.

...I have 2each of 1J, 1A, Hikaru 1S I got at retail. Plus a Kakizaki and 3 Roy's on pre-order at Retail (well, P-Bandai+Proxy fees for Kakizaki), plus a 1J I got for a friend at retail. As far as Yamato 1/48 and 1/60 vs DX 1/48: If you're in battroid, there's no contest. The DX blows anything Yamato out of the water. For fighter mode it's less clear-cut, since none of the articulation improvements on the DX matter in fighter. Plus the whole tabbing thing. But for battroid (and to a lesser extent Gerwalk) the DX is indisputably better.

They're nowhere near as bad as HG. Also even if it's not official, still ought to go in the Macross section, at least for the Shin F14. Same as the knock-off Yamarcadias.

I honestly can't tell the difference.

I wonder if the Shin release was supposed to be for one of those pop-up events that companies can buy day-licenses for. Like the previous Macross branded Calibre releases. If the event was cancelled, but the contracts to produce the F-14s was already signed, that might explain this.- 498 replies

Considering I paid Japanese retail price, I think it may have managed to come in cheaper than buying from Bluefin, as they charge California sales tax, on top of the higher base price.

Not too bad, just over $51 for shipping+fees, with it double-boxed. DeJapan apparently gives you several options for how you want your stuff boxed. Single, Double, or Securely (100/300/500yen).
