  1. I just settle for 2 of each, and let variants handle the posing/outfit differences.
  2. I'd expect anything you do to be more functional than aesthetic. Personally I'd search for a good 3M A+B epoxy, one that will work with both plastic and metal, and has a low viscosity with a n appropriate set time (5-30min range?). Might want a higher viscosity if there's a large gap between the metal pin and the hole, and if so check what the maximum bond thickness is. Or just use some crazy glue and see if it falls apart again. I spend far too long researching appropriate glues for things at work... [edit] This stuff seems like it'd do the job: https://www.mcmaster.com/74765A22/ Clear superglue, begins curing in 15sec, and full harden in 24 hours. Low viscosity, high maximum bond thickness. Bonds to most plastics and metals.
  3. If you're referring to the ones on the top of the knee armor, that's a fold-out panel, there's no space behind it to have a light-up gimmick. Also having a 2-part mechanic would leave a big red part visible when it opens. Sticker seems to be the only way to get the "open hatch" gimmick to work.
  4. So you see the pin that's already there, that goes from one side of the broken part to the other? Glue it in on the other end, it'll help distribute the force across both sides, rather than just the side the pin's attached to. As a mechanical engineer, the reason those both failed in the exact same way is that the force from the arm is concentrated on only one side of the hinge, specifically at the squared interior corner where it broke. There's a reason why putting a small radius in is a good idea.
  5. Oof, that's not a good break. High load area, and not a lot of space to glue it back together or pin reinforce it. If you do glue it back together, I'd also glue the metal peg into the opposite side to help carry part of the load.
  6. With COVID anything goes, and expect cancellations/delays.
  7. Bandai has taught me that just because something's shown, doesn't mean it will be produced.
  8. Also supposedly it will include LED gimmicks (by default, not via add-on). I'm down for one, I skipped the first PG RX-78.
  9. People who are on the other side of HG's leaky border-wall. It's no surprise that Macross focuses on a domestic audience when they're legally barred from selling the show or merch internationally.
  10. Nora SV-51 is probably on the list, given that they've already released an Ivanov SV-51. It's an odd one though, since the Ivanov had the leg issue that marred release, and cost like $450 each. So I imagine it's very hard for them to judge possible sales numbers on a variant, where the main release had a widespread flaw.
  11. Extremely unlikely. First off, Bandai molds their parts on a runner, so long as there was any other part on the runner besides just the interior detail they'd have to mold up the entire runner anyway. Looking at the P-Bandai gunpla kits there's a huge number of spare parts because re-using runners is cheaper than saving plastic. Secondly, it really doesn't take long to actually run off parts via injection molding. It's fast+cheap on a per part basis, the issue is the overhead time+cost to make and test the molds.
  12. Extremely unlikely they will produce a new YF-21 at the same time Bandai is making a DX version.
  13. FYI, it's the same Mangaka as Hayate the Combat Butler.
  14. Yeah, the face/body/chest certainly don't seem to match. However that's somewhat understood as the body and face shape are re-used from the other VFG kits. Microne Klan would have fit the body/head better.
  15. I think they made her even larger than in the series.
  16. Because back in WW1-2 era it was important to be able to estimate the heading of an enemy ship visually. That camo is designed to make it hard to see which way a ship is pointing by eye. Completely pointless in the modern day with radar-guided ranging and aim.
  17. Watch as Bandai has a galaxy brain moment and makes the new VF-31 an a-variant with the delta wing. In-universe explanation can be they didn't have time for a proper Siegfried custom.
  18. So I actually build X-ray inspection equipment as my day job. However, no way I'll run any of mine through there, if you think UV browns plastic, you don't even want to see what x-rays will do.
  19. The Sheryl Gorgeous figure sure looked good, but at that size/cost it was too much for me. Don't have the space, and I didn't want to spend that much on a static fig I have to put away when my parents come by.
  20. I got a NIB Hikaru 1/60 weathered for ¥20,000 off YJA. Another one just sold for like ¥23,000 or so. They're not too bad if you wait for an actual auction, or one to show up on Mandarake/Jungle.
  21. My guess is that they designed the leg boosters to have inner detail, but ran into problems. Possibly it was too hard to separate the panels, or there was an issue with the boosters/missile pods, or it just ended up costing too much. So they decided to just glue together the legs, rather than re-make the existing leg armor. Leaving the detail there, but gluing it shut just reeks of a problem with going from prototype to production, or in early production.
  22. I bet that what they'd have to sell the figures for would make it a non-starter. Production costs have gone up, I imagine the MSRP would be in the $125 range or more. No way they can sell that many (especially reprints!) when it's competing with HMR and almost with the DX line price-wise.
  23. So, I randomly looked at the HLJ page for the upcoming VF-25G w/ Klan, and finally realized why they made her chest so large. Now, honestly, I find the fact you can put her in the armored parts to be pretty bad-ass. Had not seen that previously.
  24. After some thought: Bandai YF-19 Arcadia YF-19 Bandai VF-25S with Armored Parts Bandai VF-25G with Tornado Parts Yamato VF-11B Arcadia SDF-1 PF Arcadia VF-0S PF Arcadia VF-0D PF Bandai DX VF-1S Strike Bandai VF-31A Yeah, I have a huge number of other calks, including Yamato Weathered edition VF-1 figures, Weathered Tomahawk, Arcadia max/milia VF-1 PFs, the entire lineup of Macross HMRs (incl the monster), and numerous others. The above 10 are my top 10, and probably ditching the VF-0S or VF-31 for a Bandai YF-21 when it hits. The Yamato is nice in fighter, but Battroid is so bad and floppy.
