Well, this fixes my 2 biggest complaints about the Super VF-31: needs more missiles, arms aren't bulky enough. (Yeah, the arms are still spindly, but the guns and such make the outline look bulkier)

You've already grasped the most important thing about buying from NY, don't have them do the currency conversion. Their exchange rate right now is $1=100yen.

FYI, the one coming out in June for YEN 41,000 is not a VF-1S. It's a VF-0s, from Macross Zero. It's a bit larger and slightly different design.

Being on the west coast helps, but with the web monitor I can usually pick things up off HLJ when someone else cancels. As Hobby Search doesn't like letting people cancel, less luck there aside from the initial pre-order rush and at release.

I've got a web monitor plugin running, scanning various searches for changes and then emailing me. Works pretty well, and definitely gets faster results than their email.

Between that, the HM VF-1S, and the Macross Quarter that showed up on Mandarake for ¥8,000 my wallet is stinging from the impulse buys a bit.

I got one, I'm skipping the PF version of the VF-1Js, but I'm in for the SDF-1 and VF-0S. I'm not a huge fan of the solid red -1J, but for like $160 shipped I'll bite.

The one from Arcadia you linked is the VF-0S Premium, it's really costly. Try the new Action base 4 and 5, they each come with an extra articulated post with the correct peg size.

There's also a much shorter part with 5mm holes on both sides that comes with Bandai's new action bases, I'm using one of those on the stand of my Messer VF-1S to display in Battroid.

Mirage's set is going to end up quite expensive, I'm guessing, as it comes with the reaction missiles. Though hopefully we get the rest of Delta squad with those as well.

I think it actually may not fit with the door closed, though obviously won't be able to tell until the kit arrives (in like 2months, due to Private Warehouse). I was more surprised with the quantity, 20 of each type is more than I'd be able to find spots for.

So, just looked over the pics on Hobby Search of the kit contents and instruction booklet. Looks like the Monsters aren't standalone, they're part of the Daedalus. HOWEVER! It apparently comes with 60 standalone desdroid Phalanx, Defender, and Tomahawks.

Same, switched them to my "travel" card, without a currency conversion fee. Saves a bit compared to paypal.

(Puts on engineer hat) It's stronger the way they have it, you want alternating uni- or bi- directional layers when laying composite. Doing a seam of two different directions meeting in the middle creates stress concentrations.
