  1. Frankly, if you're designing something, you design it for whatever production method you intend to use. Injection molding, specific type of 3D printing, machining, stamping, etc... T-Rex (the design house Arcadia hires), I'm positive, designs the parts and final products with injection molding and casting in mind, I doubt the production factory does anything more than handle scaling for material shrinkage, or maybe request some changes to gate placement. The old caveat in my experience is that just about any design can be 3D printed, because there's so few limitations (aside from material available and individual process tolerances). However the converse is that something designed for 3D printing without considerations for any other manufacturing methods is likely to need a complete re-design to work with any other manufacturing method. An example from the company I work at: An engineer (me) gets a specification for an assembly. The design is created, with each part having a specific manufacturing method defined by the design engineer. The part files and annotated drawings are sent to a manufacturing house, which runs a basic conversion from the CAD file provided (usually STEP in my case) into the CNC language they use. The person overseeing this process tweaks it so that the end result matches the drawing provided, and to make sure the import doesn't screw up. The parts are produced, and checked against the drawings to make sure they're in spec. Parts are packaged and delivered.
  2. Nah, anime logic says the smaller a population is, the more they advance technology over a given period.
  3. I wouldn't mind buying a VF-25F, seeing as the one I have is not a renewal version.
  4. Did you trim the clear edges off the decals, or just overlap them/bend them around the part edges?
  5. I assume you are never transforming out of fighter mode?
  6. Unfortunately, the only matching VF-1 I have is my Strike Roy, and I want to keep that one without the armor. If they made one that could go with my Milia 1J, then I'd go for it.
  7. Converting CAD files is pretty easy (usually automated, with a few selections/options), and if it's being converted into CNC instructions, there's assist programs that reduce the workload.
  8. That's what I was thinking. Going over the whole valk would make the tolerances and part clipping even worse.
  9. Feels good, don't it? Nice to see they're still getting fulfilled, way better than shelling out current market for one.
  10. Probably just change the type of paint.
  11. I'd vote for the Sinanju Stein, but I really like the look of it. Of the 3 you listed the only one I've built is the MG ZZ Ver Ka, which was an alright brick. The stein is a really good candidate for painting though, if you want to hold off on it. The Sinanju OVA (and the edition of the Ver Ka with waterslides) come with waterslides for the trim. Also you can do a reverse-wash for the trim.
  12. My wish list for HMR valks is: renewal version YF-19 (not just a modified HM VF-19), YF-21, VF-11, VF25, and VF-0. SV-262 and SV-51 would be interesting, if they can simplify the transformations to the point it'd work in 1/100 scale and not cost ridiculous amounts.
  13. Unfortunately, the Desdroids and VF-2 didn't sell that well. I hope Bandai keeps going, but it's also conceivable they're going to cut and run. If they'd come out with a more popular Valkyrie like the VF-25 I think it'd have done better than the VF-2.
  14. Looks like:
  15. Their metal 3D printing ought to have enough strength, but the surface finish isn't going to be great. Maybe a 2-part assembly with a plastic insert to go inside the bar and around the peg? That way it can be a bit flexible, and can be sanded off if needed.
  16. Mainly it's just regarded as a good RG kit because it's well engineered. No idea about the PG, but most of those (aside from Wing Zero) tend to be pretty good. As for the waterslides, there are official Bandai waterslides available for the kit.
  17. Have you considered putting them on Shapeways?
  18. Between my Arcadia, Yamato, and Bandai versions, I think the Arcadia has the best look. That said, YF-19 is my favorite valk, so I've got 3 DX YF-19s on order, on top of my current collection.
  19. Honestly, I think Mikumo's character (personality, appearance) was just designed before her backstory, and nobody bothered to change it when someone decided she was a clone. Frankly a lot of the characters feel like they were low-effort design, without too much thought going in, and without any thought for how they would fit into the story.
  20. Market price is roughly: ~$350 for YF-21 in good condition, and $350-$450 for VF-11 in good condition (seems the C costs more than the B). At least as of last time I looked around.
  21. What's the preferred place to snag these? FlyingMule?
  22. Ha, my friend's probably going to want a monster of his own once he sees the one I've got. I totally want the Gerwalk and Queadluun too.
  23. Got some Ichiban Kuji Chibi figures, courtesy of @kajnrig The Monster is definitely the best of the three, though the Tornado fighter is nice.
  24. Wake me up when they make a PG Qan[T]. Not really a fan of the Exia, Raiser, or Seven Sword.
