  1. How much hassle is the anycubic photon? I've been thinking of grabbing one so I could so some small detailed parts.
  2. I'd have totally bought from Amazon JP if they sold it to the US, if only for the cheaper shipping.
  3. I've been having pretty good luck with FromJapan. You do have to pay up-front, and can't cancel items (as they're a proxy, rather than a store), but they'll let things sit for up to 45days so you can combine shipping, and they'll also let you see different shipping options with prices before picking one.
  4. To get decent adhesion I've been using a heated bed with Kapton tape, and then roughing up the tape a bit with sandpaper. The heated bed itself is for ABS, so PLA just refuses to come off entirely unless I cover it up.
  5. Oof, are they including the domestic shipping? Either way, really glad I bought in bulk.
  6. Plus the model kit has an easier transformation.
  7. Man, I wish I had a setup like that, but for flight sims.
  8. I use Simplify3D at my work for the stuff we 3D print, the raft and separation work pretty well, and there's lots of available settings to tweak for it (solid layers below separation, distances both horizontal and vertical, etc...)
  9. Bandai is re-releasing Eva-01 Metal Build, they didn't initially make enough to meet demand, there was massive scalping and annoyed fans. The Mediacom looks much more anime-accurate, while the metal build is a re-imagining.
  10. There's a V1 Tornado pack, which includes both the valkyrie and the tornado parts. For the V2 you need the stand-alone VF-25F Alto and the separately sold Tornado pack add-on. Here's the Tornado pack for the VF-25G as reference.
  11. It seems slightly high, I had to pay around 10,500 yen for shipping 3x of them. FedEx Intl. economy to California. EMS was slightly higher, by like 400yen, and then FedEx Intl. Priority another few hundred yen above that.
  12. I always got the impression (in TNG/DS9/Voyager) that the Federation was portrayed as having better weapons technology, but less of a focus on battle when it came to startship design. Which leads to better weapons and shields on less effective platforms, especially the ships that are older and not using the state-of-the-art technology.
  13. Yes, those are the ones.
  14. Downsides: 3 month transit time, extremely limited tracking (and no signature requirement if you live in an area with lots of package theft), and no insurance to speak of. Good for big cheap things, bad for small expensive things. I would never ship a DX figure via ferry, better to just pay the extra $10-$20.
  15. The PF SDF-1 was $600+ shipped, but it's not a Valk so I conveniently ignored it. There were prototypes shown for 3 other paint-schemes on the H-Metal R VF-4. Max, Milia, and Roy.
  16. Most I've paid for any Valk was ~$400 (VF-11B/C, VF-0D). I look at the DX VF-1J and I can understand it. The prices for the VF-31A is downright ridiculous though.
  17. Will it be pure snap-build, or will you put in some pins/rods for hinges? I'm totally in to try printing one up.
  18. Oof, had to pay my proxy $100 for international shipping of 3x armor packs. (One is for a friend) All told $574.15 shipped and ought to be here inside a week.
  19. You are correct, and I can confirm from personal experience that the RVF-171 looks good with supers on. It doesn't come with the right wings, but the RVF-171 itself comes with separate hardpoint wings (unlike every other -171 except the Maruyama w/ supers box).
  20. In general, the two best shipping options are EMS and SAL (small packet). SAL Small packet is cheap and things take 2-3 weeks to get to the US, sometimes as long as 4 weeks. EMS is a bit more expensive and takes about a week at most, since I'm near San Francisco airport they can be really speedy. Both ship Japan Post until they reach the US (or whichever country the receiver is in), and then are shipped by the local post (USPS for USA). EMS and Registered SAL require a signature on delivery/pick-up, normal SAL does not require a signature and also has no tracking.
  21. Ah, mine’s a visa, so accepted everywhere pretty much.
  22. I had to secure my VF-1s pre-order through Amazon Japan, using Tenso as a proxy. So I’ll end up paying MSRP, plus Japanese tax, plus proxy fee, plus international shipping.
  23. Best option really is to get a dedicated "travel" credit card that doesn't charge currency conversion fees. I have one I use for all no-USD purchases, saved me quite a bit, and cost me exactly nothing.
  24. I paid around ¥63,000 for 3x VF-1J shipped (from 3 separate vendors). So about ¥21,000 each. Super packs are pre-ordered at ¥8,800 each, plus probably another ¥2,000 each in shipping and fees from my proxy. Which puts it at around ¥32,000 or around $310. Of course, those were all pre-ordered at or below MSRP for the VF-1J, so you can either pay the extra to secure a pre-order, or wait for release and hope you can snag one for MSRP and save like $100. [edit] I also forgot, don't use UPS shipping from NY, the cost of it relative to other shipping options is completely absurd. Just use EMS or DHL, wait the extra day or two (my EMS stuff shows up within 3-5 days). If you really want to save money, you can choose Surface/Ferry, but only if you don't mind waiting 3 months. Also NY is notorious for sitting around on released items for a week (or several) before shipping it out. The absolute fastest shipping from anywhere is DHL from Amazon Japan, I've had stuff show up 2 days after release, I think one showed up the next day.
  25. For future reference with NY: DO NOT BUY ALREADY RELEASED STUFF FROM THEM. They almost always massively overcharge. Do not pay in anything other than Yen, they massively inflate their currency conversion prices. Do not order released and pre-order items together, the released items will wait until the pre-order items have been released to ship, but you'll still pay up-dront for everything. In your case, if you ordered together everything will ship in April or May. Do not compare prices without including shipping with other stores, NY typically upcharges their shipping. For already-released items I suggest the For Sale/Trade forums here or Mandarake. Mandarake is selling sealed unused VF-1Js for about $410 with EMS (fast) shipping to the US.
