  1. Watching Houkago Teibou Nisshi. Comfy show about fishing, same vibe as Yuru Camp and Yama no Susume. Makes me want to pick it up again, last time I went was almost a decade ago. Unfortunate that they could only get 3 episodes done before COVID shut it down.
  2. There was also an experimental French fighter from the 50's called the SNCASE SE-212 Durandal. Probably just a coincidence though, it is fairly obscure.
  3. Now all they need to do is get a contract to provide CAP for music concerts.
  4. Interesting victory for Activision, and by "interesting" I mean really cool. Far too many game devs go with slightly modifying real designs to skirt fears around lawsuits, but with this there's now precedent for using real vehicles, weapons, etc without licensing. Obviously doesn't apply to actual branding (logos, copyrighted names, etc), but as long as the models themselves are accurate, I could care less what they're called. https://www.gtplanet.net/call-of-duty-legal-victory-20200403/
  5. The Stratolaunch lives! https://www.stratolaunch.com/vehicles Talon A "Talon-A is a fully reusable, autonomous, liquid rocket-powered Mach 6-class hypersonic vehicle with a length of 28 feet (8.5 m), wingspan of 11.3 feet (3.4 m), and a launch weight of approximately 6,000 pounds (2,722 Kg). The Talon-A will conduct over 1-minute of hypersonic flight testing, and glide back for an autonomous, horizontal landing on a conventional runway. The vehicle will also be capable of autonomous take-off, under its own power, via a conventional runway." Black Ice "Black Ice is a fully reusable space plane that enables advanced on-orbit capabilities and cargo return. Initial designs optimized for cargo launch, with a follow-on variant capable of transporting crew."
  6. The FAA released its ruling on the Collings Foundation B-17 crash a while back, and it doesn't paint a pretty picture. https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=FAA-2001-11089-1673
  7. Yes, but a QF-16 won't be able to simulate a stealth threat from a peer state.
  8. A trailer for the 25th anniversary of the franchise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9MeI1n_PfQ&feature=emb_title
  9. Sierra Technical is working on a target drone called the 5GAT, intended to simulate 5th gen fighters. https://www.flightglobal.com/fixed-wing/sierra-technical-unveils-faster-and-more-manoeuvrable-stealth-uav/136192.article
  10. Anyone else looking forward to Brave New Animal? I'm liking the art direction, there's some fantastic background artwork going on in the show.
  11. Sikorsky-Boeing SB-1 Defiant and Bell Valor V280 chosen to move forward in the FLRAA competition (choosing the successor for the UH-60). https://defbrief.com/2020/03/17/bell-sikorsky-boeing-advance-to-next-stage-of-us-armys-flraa-competition/
  12. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Aerospace-Defense/Japan-s-next-gen-fighter-to-be-built-with-US-not-UK More news on the F-3.
  13. Its great to see a large company like MS put so much money, time and ambition into a genre that is usually very niche.
  14. The plane with the floats is a Macchi M.C.72. Its already winning points over Kotobuki for not limiting itself to Japanese planes only.
  15. File compression is a lost art form for mainstream devs these days. Modern Warfare 2019 is well over 100gb for a Call of Duty with one of the shortest campaigns in the history of the franchise.
  16. Its always a good idea to advertise your Kawamori designed smartwatches with some flashy scifi fighter jets. I appreciate the authentic IR seeker growl too, as well as the detailed animation of the flap and nozzle check at the start.
  17. The benefits of over wing/fuselage podded engines is that it minimizes FOD and provides easier maintenance access. They're also less likely to damage crucial systems in the rare event of an engine blowing itself up. Who knows if Airbus will keep that engine configuration though, it is just a small scale demonstrator.
  18. https://twitter.com/Task_Force23/status/1225699657923227648 Some news from the recent Kotobuki x Ace Combat panel. An Ace Combat anime movie is an enticing possibility, especially if the CG is done by the Kotobuki staff.
  19. Yeah, its not really a downsized B-2, there's been some changes. Sketch analysis included done by Guy Norris and Steve Trimble.
  20. Best anime for me this season continues to be Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na. What a wonderful, enjoyable love letter to animation. The characters are all likeable (but not perfect, there are no Mary Sues here) and have a nice chemistry with each other, the future Japan setting is well realized, and there's some great sequences of animation going on, despite the undoubtedly low budget. By far the single anime I look forward to the most each week. The most recent episode dealt with some familiar discussions and debates that will be familiar to anyone who's tried to discuss mecha online, yet its obvious the creators are all fans of the genre. Hard to believe we've almost hit the halfway point. The OP is quite an earworm as well. I hope the manga gets licensed in the west.
  21. Ilya Kuvshinov's work is extremely generic, so I'm not surprised that his character designs for GiTS are similarly boring and give off "Dollar Store" knockoff vibes.
  22. Some new renders of the B-21 Raider were posted today.
  23. One of the disappointing things about Delta is that aside from the first episode, Hayate hardly does any Gerwalk dancing. I thought it would be his gimmick, he would be skilled at Gerwalk/Battroid due to his extensive work experience with civilian destroids.
