  1. Its awful.
  2. Yep, I'm thinking we'll finally get some proper details on the next Ace Combat this year. Cant wait to see what they've been cooking!
  3. I will avoid flooding this thread with every cool bit of artwork in the book, however these are simply too irresistible not to post.
  4. I just used my Amazon account to order from Amazon.jp. Shipped with no problem, paid around 90 CAD total.
  5. I received my Yukikaze Design Works book this week, and it is definitely a must-own for any Yukikaze fan. For one, they finally unearthed lineart I've never seen of Admiral 56, including some really nice drawings of the island detailing all the various sensor masts and radars. There's also various drawings showcasing the Super Sylph's multiple radars and distributed sensors, plus all the previous artwork from the older collections.
  6. The amount of anime dubs that are decent can be counted on a pair of hands. Macross is a very VA driven franchise, so I don't really see much point in licensees investing in a dub.
  7. http://www.airbus.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2023-11-airbus-to-make-eurofighter-fit-for-electronic-combat "Following the recent parliamentary approval by the German budget committee, Airbus will equip 15 German Eurofighters for electronic combat - and equip them with a transmitter location and self-protection system from Saab, as well as "AARGM" anti-radar missiles from the American company Northrop Grumman. The Eurofighter EK is to be NATO-certified by 2030 and will then replace the Tornado in the SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defence) role."
  8. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/b-21-raider-has-flown-for-the-first-time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAWr6BC_A4w Exciting days for avgeeks, B21 with its first public flight and NGAD winding up for a public reveal sometime soon(ish)
  9. NG is also occupied rn with the B21 program, so they arent exactly hurting for juicy big contracts.
  10. Northrop just bowed out of the NGAD competition as prime contractor. https://www.aerotime.aero/articles/northrop-grumman-withdraws-ngad-program
  11. I agree. To me, one of the strengths of Macross is that it does keep doing things based on new characters and events, even if there are frequent callbacks and references to past shows.
  12. IIRC, the narrow, extended nose cone, canards and exaggerated angle of incidence wings shape the airflow to reduce the shockwaves generated by supersonic speeds.
  13. X-59 seen in the flesh. A very slick looking plane imo.
  14. Aurora Flight Sciences is working on an X-plane for DARPA that utilizes active flow control to maneuver. Doubt it'll be part of the NGAD though.
  15. One piece canopy, different leading edge shape, different trailing edge shape, (probably) no vertical stabilizers, looks a bit smaller too.
  16. Lockheed Martin posted something interesting recently.
  17. Zentradi revanchism mixed in w/ anti-UN separatism would be a cool turn for a mainline Macross anime. That's the kinda stuff that iirc only really gets explored in side material.
  18. Hopefully the next show steers away from "ancient protodevlin fold macguffin" as a plot device. Really excited to see what new VFs they'll introduce though. Might be an outlier opinion but Kawamori is still going strong in that department, the recent designs like the 262, 303, 31 are very cool machines.
  19. New video series by Project Aces inviting aerospace experts to comment on the fictional aircraft designs of Ace Combat, with the lead mechanical designer of the franchise Masato Kanno.
  20. Speaking of unconventional... https://www.aurora.aero/2022/12/12/latest-award-moves-auroras-crane-x-plane-closer-to-flight/
  21. Loved the first Death Stranding game, really excited to see what changes KJP makes to the formula, and how the story continues from the aftermath of the first game.
  22. The YF-22 decision was also made in the 90s, when it was clear the USSR was on its way out and the need for unconventional aircraft was no longer apparent. Geopolitical situation has taken a different turn in the 30 yrs since
  23. Visually looks like a Blackhawk with tilt rotor nacelles, very nice looking aircraft I agree.
  24. https://www.nationaldefensemagazine.org/articles/2022/12/5/bell-tiltrotor-wins-billion-dollar-helo-contract Blackhawk replacement got chosen. Defiant-X was apparently running into a lot more teething issues than the Valour.
  25. Then again, perhaps riding it down might not be so bad if they were in a VF, considering how tough they make em!
