Thanks for being resonable guys I don't get the higher price really. Hasegawa are selling their VF-31 with Lil Drakens for 4800 yen. That's a lot of steyrene compared to the VF-4 kit. With better details too. Thing is if we don't let them know then they aren't going to try any harder next time. There are a few main stream kit makers like that too. I'm talking about you Kitty Hawk haha. - Brett

WARNING: This post is likely to be offensive to fans of the kit. If you don't like independant opinions then don't bother reading. I had a look over this kit and I have to say I am not impressed. Where are the fine details? The panel lines look like trenches and there are no rivets and panels. Then they have the gall to charge 5800 yen for it? Highway robbery. Yes I am glad for steyrene VF-4 but I would rather Hasegawa had done. Big thumbs down do Wave's money grubbing and lazy engineering. - Brett

As of yesterday we are the new owners of this Stasis Chamber cunningly disguised as an old Smooth-On box. Guess who is resting inside? - Brett

Do I know Anyone in Fort Walton Beach Florida?
Return To Kit Form replied to Return To Kit Form's topic in Model kits
Yep. Have been a maintainer for nearly 20 years (how time flies). Too bad about missing out. But if things change you can always give it another try s there is no age limit - Brett -
Thanks arbit! Was that via ebay a few days ago? If so they have been sent and I will refund some of the excess postage as well when I get back home. -Brett

Do I know Anyone in Fort Walton Beach Florida?
Return To Kit Form replied to Return To Kit Form's topic in Model kits
Thanks ivorysniper! I'll keep that in mind for our weekends off. I have been pretty lucky to have been chosen for the F35 team to bring the new jet into RAAF service - Brett - Brett -
I'll be in town for a few weeks (up from Australia) and wondered if any modelling types might be around who want to say G'day? Cheers, Brett

RTKF 1/72 "Legult" Build Ups
Return To Kit Form replied to Return To Kit Form's topic in The Workshop!
Thanks MT. Just a little more progress on this one. Plus I started messing around with concrete slabs for the base. - Brett -
It certainly is and not just in 1/72 scale. You can get this in 1/144, 1/100, 1/60 etc. Hit up Exo on his Plastic Cretins FaceBook page or via email: orders@plasticcretins.com - Brett

Thanks Arbit. I have been using the Rinaldi Studio SM.03 book as a guide: Some more progress on weathering. And I am in the process of getting these decals printed: Cheers, Brett -
RTKF 1/72 "Legult" Build Ups

Its been awhile between posts. I had a peeled paint issue on the main pod which required a full strip and repaint. Combined with a work trip away and picking up a bug at the airport and my modelling time was shot to pieces. But the build is back on track and tonight I started the weathering. - Brett -
I use DEK L's run by Derek Lee. Rates are quite reasonable if you have your art ready to go and he will create "whites" for you if you have yellow or white decals. The whites are a separate decal to go under the lighter colours to make them brighter. I really rate them as the decals are super thin as I have seen the carrier film disappear under a light coat of matt clear. The only thing you have to remember is that they are printed upside down, which can work in your favour as you don't have to slide the backing out from under the decals. Just place it face down and slide the backing off - simples! If you are interested derek can be contacted on: sales@dekls.com.au - Brett

Whats Lying on your Workbench MK IV
Return To Kit Form replied to Urashiman's topic in The Workshop!
I always cut, file and sand wet. I use a sink or shallow tray and use raxor saws to cut off the large pour stubs, a bastard file to get close to the part and finish with jewelers files and wet and dry abrasive paper. That way all the nasty resin dust is trapped and you can't breath it in. Just use a bit of WD40 on your tools after so they don't rust. -Brett -
The kits will ship with decals for sure. A pilot will probably be available as an optional extra for those that want one. And if we go down the pre order path the pilot will likely be the bonus. Don't forget that Zentreadi infantry and officer figures are available from Mike Salzo, so drop him a pm if you are interested. -Brett

Just like the title says. Would you buy a repop? Well you'll get your chance later this year but right now we are just gauging interest. Cheers, Brett

But that was Bandai. Wave's engineering is a little less... good.

Yep and it breaks my heart to have to bail on this one. I just can't justify that sort of money when I can get a good looking VF-1 Gerwalk for a fraction of the cost elsewhere. I had been looking forward to getting this since it came out too. -Brett

Mike are you eyeballing those engine bell rivets? Or is there some sort of indexing tool used? Either way the extra details look sharp! - Brett
