"Mr Spock. Engage my iphone at max power!" The iBridge looks totally out of place compared to every other Trek. Way more advanced than anything on the Enterprise E for example. Some of it just doesn't make sense and seems to be change for the sake of. The ship itself definitely looks like a kitbash refit of the refit enterprise. Trek itself has never been big on consistency, but satisfying the existing fan base should not be mutually exclusive with doing something new with a fresh take. Reboots are almost totally unnecessary. What would have really changed in BSG, for example, if they said they were a 100 years after the original series and changed the names of their characters? Even keep the ship named Galactica. Make the Adama's descended from the originals or whatever few throwaway lines there are. Making the original series names callsigns fits perfectly with that. Instead of "it's happened before and will happen again" the original never happened at all.

Got Band of Brothers and Clone Wars on Blu-ray yesterday. Only had time to watch 4 eps of Band of Brothers. Definitely a great buy.

I like the Mk II way better than the flashiness of the Mk III.

I really want some Iron Grenadiers. These are only available in the comic pack or singly? Don't really want another IG Destro though love the one I have. Want at least 3 or 4 IG's. They did a rerelease on that Voltaire guy? He came with the purple IG, I take it?

The rides on the Experience were several years, if not a decade or more out of date. One of my friends loved going to that damned place and I was bored stiff. They needed to have more to do there. Bridge mockups of all the series, for example, probably multiples so enough of the trekkie geeks could enjoy them simultaneously. "Simulator" rides, etc. THe main events should have been more like a Choose Your Path type thing with several different stories that continually changed to keep it fresh. I did think the bar thing was pretty cool, even if a little embarrassing, with teh cosumed guys running around and staying in character.

I bought the HDDVD of Serenity so will probably wait until I see this BD in the bargain bin or on a BOGO or something.

That article is BS. It takes a couple months but once I got the 1080p TV back in 2006, that was the gateway drug. By later that year I had stopped buying DVD. Noone is expected to replace their library... but there's no reason to at all to buy new releases on DVD. Hell, I don't even see most movies anymore. My home theater experience is far better, no kids, no cell phones, no overpriced concessions, etc. Every now and then but mostly I can more than do the 3 month wait. Iron Man BD pulled in 16% of the disc revenue. At this stage in the game that's phenomenal. Dark Knight is going to do even better.

The computer and electronics super geek thread

I don't think it's the amount of cables it's the management (or lack thereof). -
I got 2 of the Red Leader X-Wing. What Hasbro should really do is something like the Yamato stickers and include several different hashes (up to 10 maybe?) and different pilot names, maybe different levels of kill marks. Bonus points if they did something like Rogue Squadron Emblems and maybe some new/EU squadron logos (sorta like the new Clone Wars Gunships/ARC Fighters with their WW2 imagery).

Really enjoying SOCOM. The headset is great and the game is fun. Looks like fortunately skipped the server issues.

Goldeneye is still one of my favorite Bond movies. The rest of the Brosnan movies I only really like for their intro / chase scenes. Definitely a fan of Craig's Bond (more than Connery and Moore, who always seemed pretty hokey to me) but would hope it could meet the Brosnan Bond somewhere in the middle. I like the gadgetry and would like to seem them do some semi-realistic stuff (along the lines of his in car gadgets). A cell-phone remote control for the Aston Martin would be nice. At the very least, some vehicle mounted weaponry!

Quinto looks pretty good as Spock but the rest of these guys aren't looking suitable. Pine is looking decent but Scotty, Sulu, and Uhura seem very miscast. not sure what I think of these jersey material tunics, either. The screen definitely looks nice.

I will L-O-L if they do the scene of the news being delivered while the bad guy is doing the chic doggy style and pauses only for "yes? What is it?"
-
I think that's actually the most suitable choice given how the comic apparently depicted him. Ignoring the whole him supposed to being a Marine instead of Chair Force.
-
Annoying out of continuity but I don't think Cheadle would do bad at all.
-
Eh... sounds like he either went bad again or got defeated. Willing to bet it was the former more than the latter and we'll probably run into him as an emperor-style decrepit. A holocron at the least. This game could do so well as to bring back the original skills, crafting, and economy system from SWG. I actually do prefer Jedi Outcast/Academy style twitchy combat but certainly am not optimistic enough to expect it. As long as they go a bit more realistic than the cartoony stuff I'm seeing on the site (which is most of what has kept me out of WoW all this time), I'll certainly join it to try out. Hopefully there's starfighter/space combat, to go with the exploration. Definitely want that Twitchy (SWG excecuted well on that, too).
-
Interesting. Guess I'm clear to buy then. The bugs were the only thing holding me back. I really just want the headset but the game for $10 makes it a no-brainer.

They should probably get rid of jumping or make it impose a 3 sec firing penalty or something. Never see anything like that in real life. If anything go more like America's Army and make standing while firing difficult, easier at kneeling, and and easiest in a prone position.

We never got an (official anyways) look at Revan's noggin. It was just as easily a lava-lake damaged cranium (ala Vader) as much as a dermatitis on top of natural male pattern baldness. Reformed Revan could have just easily been surgically repaired or even left with a pasty white cranium since we never saw that either. Or could have possibly forgone a Sith-induced skinhead haircut for a traditional Jedi Mullet® instead.

The article left me ambivalent. There's nothing wrong with the TOS technology if it's capabilities could be expanded. A large clunky hand phaser is fine if it can blast through 10m of unobtanium. A brick sized communicator is fine if it has a transmitter that can hop 1.21 Jigawatts of frequencies to a starship in a geosynch orbit. Definite groan about the politics that is apparently infused in the thought processes of these guys. This is an interesting article on a he says/he says about Shatner cameo: http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2008/10/william-shatner.html

I think I'm going to get one. I was 50/50 yesterday, but I'm thinking this is great custom potential. Have any links to some good guides online for painting a realistic low viz scheme? Or anything you might recommend? I'm tossing the idea of getting out my dremel and trying to fab up a custom weapons bay and opening door... maybe i'll get 2 and completely dissect one...
-
Hell yeah. Not only much more powerful than the first time through, but generally more proficient. Certainly not having to figure out the various "mysteries" (like pulling up the floor panel, etc) while fending off enemies scaled to your current level, etc.
-
I checked out that F22 today. Looks pretty nice. Not sure I like the external wing pylons but I guess opening internal missile bays isn't practical on something at this price point....
-
Definitely. This thing is starting to look like a train wreck. Not only will it not draw an audience from teh general public groaning at Star Trek, but it will completely disrespect most of any remaining fan base. Great job!
-
That F-22 does look bad ass. I can well see that with an accurate low-viz paint scheme...
