This is starting to read like a Chuck Norris thread. Noone cares about the centaur?

I only have the one PS3, but what happens if I take my 320GB out of my current PS3 and just put it in another one? Would it just run or would that PS3 have to format it and then I'd have to do a restore? I am planning on a second PS3 anyway for the bedroom (if they ever come out with a silver one in North America, before I have to go and import an HK or JP satin silver!) anyways, so might find out about this myself one of these days anyway.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III
Uxi replied to kaiotheforsaken's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I thought they executed some things well on the show. Other things not so much. More miss than hit, thoguh, from my perspective and a bunch of wasted opportunities. On the whole, I compare it with another show that had promise but ended up being a soap opera directed at a male demographic: The Shield. Liked it at first, but then some of the story evolutions seemed too contrived and not given enough forethought. Seems obvious the whole human-cylon thing was more a budget choice than one based on storytelling. The Final Five makes it patently obvious that this show did not have B5-style preplanned story arc and that they were making it up as they went. That smacks as cheese as bad, if not worse than the contact basketball outfits Hatch and Benedict wore. -
Drown RIAA and MPAA.

Yeah. Also tried to condition it once, too. -
Ah that sux. Glad I have my original 60GB out. If I ever have trouble, I'll pull out my current 320, put the OG drive back in before I send it off and ensure I have all my music, video, and game stuff on there. Reminds me I am due to do another backup onto the USB drive, though. GL. Hope nothing ever happens to my original hardware, cause i love it and would only want another PS2BC/SACD model. At this point, i'd seriously consider trying to do a diode repair myself, maybe...

macbook pro battery taking a poo on me. Says "check battery" and charge is only showing ~1300 max mah when it was in the high 4000s last month. Fortunately still on the original 1 year Applecare -
I still have the Action Fleet TIE Defender that I got used and open box off ebay a couple years. Have no clue where it is since I moved.

Stop paraphrasing David and leaving out the qualifier he tossed out that the carriers as a symbol for the [military] power of the USA.
-
Indeed. Which is where this image always brings it into perspective:
-
I'd like to see all of the famous WW2 carriers "reincarnated." Yorktown, Saratoga, and Ranger could/should all come back before Enterprise (at least on the map until the current Enterprise is mothballed).
-
I was thinking a "fool and his money" but that wasn't Barnum either (Tusser). As far as David's issue, it's not RROD so it's not covered. I would personally wait for it to RROD and wait for the replacement unit. You know it will happen eventually, since you almost certainly don't have a jasper. The one you get will be new, at least to you, and fully covered for x-period of time and you might get lucky with a Falcon or something. Unless you think you can get actually sell it for a $100, in which case it becomes the hapless purchaser's issue...
-
Apparently it's due to the combination of 35mm and IMAX. You should probably watch it. I can spot some of the halo'ing but that's decidedly minor IMO. A bigger issue is more like DNR that was applied. In any case, I don't find it particularly egregious. Looks and sounds great, especially the IMAX portions. Could it be better? Yes. Is it horrible? Not at all.

ROFL. If he was really smart the cavities in these things would be sealed with rubber and can just be hosed out. If it was me, I'd think the "base station" for these things would be a combination charger and bidet that automatically performed such "maintenance."

Really liking this. Might have to get 2. I prefer the VF-11C. Guess the odds are pretty remote of seeing a repaint with the different boosters? Love the bayonet and ejection cockpit.

Wish they would do a compilation game on Blu-ray for PS3. They could throw in some english subs/translation and bonus points if they do new textures (fat chance, I know).

Right, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Even if they get the first fixed in warranty, they now have another flawed system. I've seen this on at least 3 boards... When both of those die, buy another one? Microsoft now has at least two sales to one guy simply because their rushed and flawed hardware design is being rewarded. I'm not saying one should necessarily go to the competition (though the consideration couldn't hurt), but definitely not encourage shoddy engineering & management. Just suck it up and wait out the repair process instead of giving them MORE money to do the same. Doesn't anyone see the message going out? Be first out to the market, even if your poo sucks, and fix it on the back end since your customers won't care if you have a decent online experience replete with advertising. Maybe PT Barnum was right...
-
Nice. Wasn't thinking I was gona get this, but looks pretty hot.
-
Can't believe people keep flushing money into the 360. If/when my dies, I'll probably start start the coffin process, but no way in HELL would I buy another flawed design from MSFT. It will take at least 6 months of jaspers in the wild to convince me they won't RROD.

Cost is the only reason. A DVD can be pressed for pennies and HD DVD combos were said to be about as expensive as BD50s ($1-3 each), depending who you spoke with. Given the volume, DVD is output at on a major title, you're talking serious bucks. During the format war, numbers were miniscule for both sides. Only recently have then begun to rise. The whole cost advantage thing the HDDVD guys were trumping wasn't about retail price or the consumer end (for which there wasn't an appreciable difference between the two), but on the producers end, particularly once things began to scale to mass adoption. Some of the HDDVD guys actually Blu-ray would NOT be able to scale up, though that's clearly been a non-issue for things like Iron Man and Dark Knight and, thus won't be...
