Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
Uxi replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
We all wanted a movie filled with the Future War flashbacks from T1 and T2. What we got was the precursor. Execution and vision are generally lacking and what they did do was trite (I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the "stay the course" BS) but we could still get what we want. I hope. -
Only place I'm seeing 8 and 11-16 is rapidshare but it says I have to be a premium member to download those. I have 1-7 and 9, 10 done.

Nah, I think it's more logical successor to the Macross than the MegaRoad, specifically the synthesis of Zentradi design with human reverse engineering..

Very annoyed that they're all different shades. I could live with them being different shade from my v1 1/60 but I'd expect the v2 1J to match the v2 1A shade. Ugh.
-
I'd like to see a whole set (1A, 1D, 1J, 1S) in low viz.
-
Or sent a unit with a tiny bit more discipline (or without a wet behind the years butter bar as commander). But yeah, basically 2 squads of guys. I would at the very least expect a full platoon with 3 elements in classic US style 2 front, 1 reserve MO.

The YF-21 reminds me of Blue Angels now that I've had my Gamlin VF-22 for awhile. I really do hope we get an F-22 metallic low-viz scheme.
-
Hmm the blue is looking darker, too... I'm gonna have to wait and see since most of the promo Gamlin pics were way lighter than it actually is. About the only review that showed the Gamlin in the right light was the CollectionDX review. I am hoping the Max is a lighter sky blue like the initial pics shown.... I'll probably wait to see if/when HLJ does a Paypal sale with free shipping like they did for the Gamlin. Not so much interested in the Milia..

I want to see Thon (from TotJ) but voted for Bastila

I love the way the YF-19 intakes look and love how they molded the intake covers on the top part, seems like it would be relatively easy to do a hinged version of the intake cover that would fold and lock into place there. YF-21 and VF-22 is a bit more awkward... I prefer the "ducted" subtle look anyway instead of visible turbines (I never even recalled seeing turbine blades on the VF-22 except for that shot of Gamlin when he gets in his gerwalk VF-22 in Dynamite 7). VF-1 I'm more agnostic on... the execution is less ideal than desired, but it's shown in the anime and appears simple enough that I'd still like to see it for complete PT. Just as important as the heat shield.
-
Gigil is definitely the best. He is often clandestinely defiant and once or twice openly. Interesting that only Gigil and Geperenich possessed bodies and that none of the other large Protodeviln did that, or even the "smaller" ones like Glavil and Sivil....
-
I would love to see a toy that has the intake covers made PT. Just as important of a details as the heatshield. Yamato solved the heatshield thing pretty good with both the 1/48 and 1/60v2 VF-1, and with VF-11, too... Fail on the intake covers for YF-19 and fail on both for the VF-22.

I'm fine with 1/100 as long as it's relatively cheap, they stay consistent on the scale, and we see enemy mecha, as well. Regult, Glaug, Q-rau, and Nos-Ger at the very least. Destroids, Gnerl, and some articulated Zentraedi figs would be cool, too. A britai to wreck Hikaru, at the very least.
-
We're lucky Milia didn't end up dark green like Exedol or Britai.
-
I bought a couple of the smaller tri-droids but definitely want to get that big one. Decided I would just go into work on Friday instead of wasting time in any lines.

Watching the Blu-ray again, I was pretty annoyed that they blew at least 2, 3 opportunities to show us how bad these Romulans were by not sending more Red Shirts. I thought it would have been nice to have those 2 or 3 Romulans breaking, twisting, and blasting red shirts to emphasize how bad ass Kirk and Sulu would be to then beat them. Why didn't Pike send 5 or 6 redshirts along with Kirk and Sulu? Instead it was a 2 on a 2, Kirk is an idiot and bum rushes the Romulan instead of pulling his phaser and blasting him... (where he proceeds to get beat down and punked yet again - I swear the writers hated him more than they did Optimus Prime - and then he doesn't even throw a double-hammer-first or jump kick ). Then the same thing when Spock and Kirk beam over to the Narada. Why not send a bunch of redshirts to draw fire instead of making those Romulans worse shots than Stormtroopers. Third opportunity could have been to have a bunch of redshirts squashed by Rocks on imploding Vulcan.

Finally got the torrent finished. Wow, amazed at some of the quality. Gotta get all the patches now. Just watched all I could get of Gamlin's VF-22 in the last disc.

Is there any difference from the $40 set I got from Robotech.com versus the first release Animeigo?
-
I like the F-B-G levers.
-
Yeah, I think the pacing of a week or so per episode, when you don't know what's going to happen next and can't wait for the next episode gives M7's progress a different perspective. The main plot point (the Varauta and Geperenich's plan for the Spiritia Farm) make it obvious in hindsight, but going through the first time it's not nearly so obvious.

Once I figured out how hide the hole in the knee joint, from the old YF-21 thread, I had no problems getting the belly plates closed... is the backpack supposed to go down flush, though?
-
There definitely is, but I rewatched discs 1 and 2 of my AnimEGO SDF:M this weekend and there's an awful lot of recycled footage there, too. I think part of the point of the early going in M7 is to hide important details amongst the mundane without making it obvious like some serial shows do.
-
Most important is to look at the numbers. There are twice as many Tomahawks as there are Valkyries on the SDF-1. So of course, they're going to go down in great numbers... I'd be very surprised if we saw twice as many Tomahawks get blown away as CF VF-1A, though.

I want one with an F-22 metallic low-viz scheme and a gold canopy.
