Plus feels older, too. Might be the style of animation.
-
Me too. Probably more colored by the fact that I didn't see M7 until at least 5 or 6 years after Plus.

I always thought Macross ages were a bit on the ridiculous side. Roy Focker was about the only one who doesn't need to be adjusted upwards. Hikaru is just too young, as are Max and Kakizaki. The worst offender is Misa, though. For her to be taken seriously, she should be at least mid 20s IMO. IIRC, I was thinking at least 3-4 years added to each. Roy: 29 Misa: 19: Make her 24 or 25 and I find her character/reputation/skill set to be far more believable. Hikaru: 16 - make him 19 or 20 and I find it far more believable. Minmay: 15-16 - Ok, especially given story. Max: 16 - I'd probably say 23 or 24 would be better. Milia: whatever, she's cloned and my suspension of disbelief isn't challenged given her need for programming and/or Zentradi / Meltran training regimen Similarly, Gamlin should be at least 23 or 24. I can buy Mylene at 14-15 and Basara at 21. A little bit older for Basara would be better.

Ooh, I want the Nora.... damn.

Wherever you're from, would be more polite to stay with the subject or not post until we get there. Or do another thread.

Just checked, you're right. Guess I'm patching 15 next cause I want to see Spiritia Dreaming. 15 has the rest of Plus, too: Gubaba's Planet, the Police one, and Mayor Miria. What is that M3 thing? Trailer or cutscenes from the game or just a short?

I dunno... Doesn't seem like the investment should be very high since all the animation is already done. For the music, the most likely answer would be to get "Reba West" style replacement music, if the international rights to the original music proved too hairy. I definitely think it's gotta be more a matter of Big West either saying "f' that, they didn't pay for any of this, they ain't gonna get nothing!" or Harmony Gold being too greedy ("pay? We should get that free since we own all sequels anyway!"). No doubt, HG should pay SOMETHING to offset production costs if they want to reap any benefit from it, but given the increasing age of all this stuff, and the prevalence of easy downloads of most of the Japanese stuff, really diminishing returns for the catalog stuff. But for a new production should be far more feasible... if both sides want to, that is.

I'm caught up to Ep 5. Will watch Ep 6 and should be ready for next week. Ep 5 was pretty good, as well. Funny how Basara kept blowing off arms with his missiles.

Burns of the first 3 discs went swimmingly. The fonts of the subtitles come out black on the PS3 for both song and dialog, for some reason (and really hard to see!), but subtitles work fine on the cheapo DVD player I bought my daughter and my old 5-disc Sony carousel. Now I gotta get case art and maybe print some disc labels since my sharpie calligraphy isn't aesthetically pleasing to my eye.

It's everything: Plus, Movie, MD7, everything. Well I thought it was... where is Spiritia Dreaming? Most of the Macross Plus shorts (including that corny live special/talk show thing) are on disc 8 but can't find a couple.

I was explaining the catastrophe to a friend when I explaining the difference between Macross and Robotech (spawned by my watching Macross: Frontier). He asked why HG and Big West just didn't make a deal since right now BW effectively gets zero of the international pie and HG isn't producing anything but crap. There should be synergy there, but there isn't....

Anyhoo, bought a pack of DL DVD+R and starting burn of disc #1

Was able to get the last set of patches from asiandvd club. Got my warning that my cumulative ratio is 0.161 now (downloaded both the remastered box and now the last set of patches). lol gotta get that up, cause I think I want to hit Zero next (i have a few of the old ANBU subbed torrents from the first run but never saw teh last couple episodes that way - saw them on a bootleg with obviously atrocious subs that while I'm sure I got the jist of it - and saw the sequence of events, I'm sure I lost some of the nuances of much of the dialog. Golden or pinku ... got it, thanks Freiflug88.

How is the Dec Restock working out? Still get it for the cheap price just later? Damn, that VF-11B is looking Teeeeeempting.
-
I would have gotten another one if I saw it for $80 at Toy-wave.
-
Wow, the price is nice Why couldn't they include A, J, and S heads in that disassembled package?

Right, by complacency I'm referring to stale strategy, not technology. The Metal Siren seems more advanced than an VF-22 the way it blows that cap ship and doesn't appear like it gives up much, either... probably the active stealth, and maybe pinpoint barrier, if anything. Throughout the OVA, the UN Spacy leadership seems to think they get the enemy all figured out, but they keep getting punked, from the initial attack to the Gloria to the Macross Cannon attack, and the Mardook are always one step ahead.

Ok, you convinced me. It also jives with the idea that the Metal Siren is specifically not a continuation of the Valkyrie-Valkyrie II lineage, but was an entirely new direction outside of the stale complacency that had permeated the UN Spacy before the Mardook invasion.

I'm worried I won't be able to keep using asiandvdclub after reading their rules. Even though I have it set to upload, too, the 108GB of the entire box gave me a miserable ratio and even though I left it up for about a day or so, didn't seem like I got any downloaders. I'm thinking I may be able to hook you up Keith. I'm gonna do a test burn on a dual layer DVD this weekend. If it all goes swimmingly, I could be persuaded to burn em for you if you just send me the discs. Probably no fancy art or anything...

IIRC it's specifically mentioned somewhere that Anima Spirita are not "digestible" by the Protodevlin.
-
That doesn't seem to make sense, either. Most logical progression would be VF-1, VF-2, VF-3 with the Metal Siren being the VF-3....

I think Yamato should do light weathering on all toys having special editions be "clean" or "battle damaged" or "heavy weathering"
-
One of the YF-21 prototypes was conventional controls only wasn't it? It would therefore, need a conventional canopy...

Got mine for half that, but congrats they're definitely rapage these days.
