  1. Where did you see pics with gray internals? Aaaaah there they are. The original pics from page 1 show the top pieces were dark gray. Hmm, not sure which I like better. I was thinking I like the new way, but also like the contrast you're talking about.
  2. I didn't think about that. I'd love to see a line of mini-figures to go with ground crews. Sivil and Glavil perhaps with glowing orbs around them. Guess Grabil would be way too big even for Vinyl....
  3. Wish they would release the X-19 (or that my mom didn't give it away years ago).
  4. Wow, Thanks for the link. Got my first Beta (green) to match up with my Green Alpha.
  5. I've kinda shot way ahead since I've been watching the discs as I burn them. I'll rewatch 11, though.
  6. Can you mix Fed and Klingons in the same Fleet?
  7. Realistically, I imagine it's more likely on the Sound Booster than the main valk itself (even though it probably only needs a single thing cable going to each speaker).
  8. Uh no. That was just a tiny part of the horde they sent to reinforce the Cardassians. IIRC the Dominion itself was still undefeated. They tried to send another fleet through the wormhole but it got deus ex machina'ed away. They should stilll be nice and strong with shipyards, etc all over their Quadrant.
  9. I can live with the legs, but the thought of having to pull off the head parts for transformation kinda bugs.

    Gunpods

Definitely possible. Bean counters usually want to standardize as much as possible. Since there were only 3 VF-17 on the Macross 7 Fleet, just seems more logical they would want to stay with the most common source. They could indeed have went to the 40mm or changed to something completely different like 33mm). Inferior would definitely be the wrong term. "Wimpier in appearance" more accurate to my train of thought, though they could well be more effective. You make a great point bringing up the fighter mode disadvantage of VF-11. Even the VF1 had it's head laser pointing forward in fighter. VF-11 has no weapons useful in fighter other than it's gunpod. Perhaps another argument to give it greater capacity (and maybe the primary reason for it's caliber choice, to fit as much as ammunition as possible?). Coupled with improvements in lethality of the round and/or propellant (and/or a move to 'gauss'/railgun weaponry). Great reference. I've completely neglected to look at my Design Works, was mostly relying on the Compendium (which also mentions the removable magazine in the other leg). I'm a bit surprised that VF-25 appears to use a conventional projectile gunpod. Seemed like the direction of M7 and MD7 was showing a progression to energy weapons, particularly with Gamlin's gunpods. He went energy and never went back IIRC. What did the Zentraedi use for cannons? I know they used missiles, but can't recall if their cannons used projectiles or a mixture with energy weapons. My recollection of Frontier ep with the Zent graveyard with the was energy based. Regults appeared to be use energy weapons except for the missile pod attachment. Q-rau appears energy to me (similar to the arm guns on the YF-21 - even though Gamlin's VF-22 apparently deviates again with the effect and when he flies directly in the foreground it has a distinct 'gunpod' sound to it for some reason ).
  11. Return of the Jedi is probably my single favorite sci fi movie. All the great elements with big space battle, speeder bikes, lightsaber duel, a Storm Trooper throwing an ewok, and the Death Star fires its laser more than once. Close Runner up: Star Trek II. Good mix of drama, comedy, big space fight and, of course, "Khaaaaaaaaaaan!" Agreed.
  12. I like the idea of LEDs in the shoulder speakers. Cell phones have some tiny high quality speakers these days. Nokia N95 still has some of the speak stereo speakers around. Should be able to fit them in the shoulders. Any sort of plug jack or whatever needs to get hidden or covered up.
  13. Sucks that the paint got jacked up. Very expensive to be taking paint to it, though I imagine I'd want to weather it anyway...
  14. Wasn't really consider getting this, but this this thread is making me want it. I really wish Yamato or Bandai or anyone would do a similarly sized Battle 7.

    Gunpods

Sure. And only a total geek like me is interested in that minutae to begin with. Agreed, it's definitely possible for them to switch ammunitions and weapon systems. I just didn't recall seeing anywhere that SuperNova was intended to increase lethality over VF-11, but to add Jump Booster capability, Pinpoint Barrier, and perhaps Active Stealth. As we see in Plus, and 7, the VF-11C was plenty effective when given an ace pilot. I'm surprised we didn't see more carry over of gunpods (for example, the Super Nova AVF just being required to use the VF-11B and/or C gunpod) like we see in real life. Hell, the USAF and USN have been using the M61 Vulcan forever. One of the things that kinda sparked my interest on this was looking at the 1/60 VF-11B's gunpod and noticing how much ... beefier... it is than both the YF-19 and YF-21 pods. Even without the cool bayonet, both of those more advanced valks look like they have inferior gunpods in comparison, though offset with useful built-in weaponry (both ironically seemingly also lose most of the utility of their head laser since battroid can't point it forward in the point-defense role used on VF-0, VF-1, and seemingly capable in VF-11). The other was speculating on weapon loads on the other VF's inspired by the layout of from the VF-1 Master File. Right. Often times we also see prototypes using equipment not intended for general issue but just thrown in the test just because. Since it was a face-off on their effectiveness, I'd expect the general capabilities to be roughly equivalent (they wouldn't go to a much larger caliber especially if it would offset capacity or range or rate of fire or the like and negatively effect their performance - but just the same going to some ueber-expensive ammunition that's more effective in every category raises the cost of use could negatively effect the system - maybe one of the factors that determined in YF-19's favor was not going to the new caseless ammunition - in addition to the whole not surviving thing ). Sounds reasonable. Given the caliber decrease, but removable mag, I'm thinking about 300 rounds per VF-11B magazine (depending on how they're laid out, maybe more). The gunpod is much larger than the GU-11 but caliber is very nearly half. I'd almost want to go as 400 rounds per magazine. I'd imagine it would be a belt that would have to be flat against the half cylinder cover, though instead of coiled around, though, which would need it to be rear loading Unless the magazine isn't just a shell like it is on the toy and is more of a replacement cylinder/drum (at least on some portion of it's length). No cutaways showing the VF-11B gunpod and/or magazine are there? Really wished the next Master File would be VF-11.
  16. I was really hoping they would do a low-viz v1 in both 1A and 1J, so I could get an LV Team from Asuka II.
  17. I'll wait for a review. If it's really fixed, I'll get my first Zero valk. Otherwise, not.
  18. I don't think we'd end up that far from where we'll be anyway. Maybe in a slightly different 'direction,' if you will. The transformation would near exact like it already is. Samurai Shoulders extend farther out and instead of having the vernier/thruster opening on the top, it clips/plug into the back of the legs (like the FP pieces do now, just permanently attached at the end where it meets the shoulder with the appropriate flare to get that "samurai" look), which are generally shaped like the YF-19 leg with the conformal FAST Pack permanently attached with the appropriate sculpting detail (the "cuffs"). The rest is relatively minor retooling on specific parts with new design for specifics like the head, etc. Sure, most of us would notice the forearms and hips, etc should be different, but we've already got issues with those as it is. Some of the detail, we're surely going to miss. Is it really possible to get better perfect transformation hands or we gonna end up with chicken hands again, anyway? But sounds like it's mostly moot point anyway, right? Unless they're not done designing yet? I'd imagine they already got the design now
  19. I get it, I just don't think it's necessary, given how much the YF-19 toys differs from the YF-19 Lineart (and I don't say that to be critical of the 1/60 YF-19! outside of the no locking chest and slight disatisfaction with the specifics of the gunpod storage in fighter, it's still one of my favorite valks ever), MOST of the visible difference is the head, shoulders, and legs. Yeah, arm differences and such details do matter but would be about an equivalent stretch from art to toy on YF-19 IMO. Certainly acceptible if it could keep their R&D and tooling costs down enough that they could pass that on.
  20. I've passed on all the VF-25 so far, but probably won't be able to resist that VF-27. Looks great!
  21. And if you really wanted it, you could get the 1/60 VF-11B since the only difference is going to be the color, gunpod, and details on the FAST Packs
  22. Well guess I was wrong. Opening and closing face shield. Eh? non-Sound Force MAXL, as well as repaints (low viz, stealth, Gray/orange Plus style, white M7 style, etc). Definitely probably not that popular, but given that it should be smaller, maybe cheaper, too. Woohoo!
