The computer and electronics super geek thread

Gonna start my new build. Will be re-using my Antec Nine-Hundred and probably my BFG 1000W power supply... set on Core i7 but everything else is variable. Make me some suggestions. Also considering a new keyboard... anyone using the fancy Logitech ones? Would I really appreciate the differences of the G19 over the G15? -
I love the whole thing... I'd probably prefer a different paint scheme... low-viz?

What's the proper orientation for the wing engine nozzles? They were crooked in the box, so I've had them tapered end on the bottom/ventral side... but the guy at gamu-toys has the tapered ends on outboard sides.... -

Great weathering job. So just to clarify, you did a clear coat, then weathered, then another clear coat? My shoulders have a few scratches on them but so far the nose is still pristine. I think I want to keep it that way, though... I'll probably start looking for a lilac to touch up my shoulders then clear coat those and the nose. -
Wings and Canards should be the same as for YF-19, though, so that's not that big of a deal. The Shoulders are unique but I imagine they'll be close to the same for Blazer/Fire.... outside of paint and perhaps minor tooling. I'd really love to get the opening shoulders with lights and sounds but am not expecting it.

Gamlin, Max and Milia VF-22S and VF-11C later, I'd say they got a license.

It's definitely smaller than a YF-21/VF-22 but seems bigger than just about everything else. -
I could see doing that in Micro Machines or MAYBE Action Fleet scale but not in the 3 3/4 line.

Wow, didn't see it... CMs Dark Legioss half off at HLJ

Oblvion is great because there's so much to do. You can ignore the main story and have fun pursuing your profession or exploring or what not. I remember the extreme disappointment in Assassin's Creed as I had somehow built up the false expectation of it being a realistic version of Oblivion.

Really? I think they're all improvements except perhaps the Tomahawk II.

Nice pics. Your nose got massively scratched -
I like my Revoltechs but they're a bit hard to get posed the way I like (a bit TOO much play in the knees). I want a 1/60 Yamato Regult.

My YF-19 landing have a couple chips on them, but my YF-21 and VF-22 landing gear look good. Can't get my VF-11B landing gear out (haven't bothered trying with a toothpick and probably going to be in Battroid for awhile since not alot of room for fighter. -

Nice review. You're doing the arms wrong cause I get back into fighter VERY easy. Unfold them fully (one of these was tighter than the other), move the shoulder pad out of the way and align the arm. Voila. I've been careful enough to avoid scratching the nose so far... but my shoulders already have a couple scratches each. Anyone get a color match on this lilac yet? Bandai should sell tubes of it for touch up. :\ -

Since I already have a VF-27 and have so far avoided the v2 1/60 VF-1, I say I'd be more entertained with the VF-27 review. Actually, I'd prefer you do a VF-11C review first. -
Got the Green Beta today. This is a treat! Nice and solid, easy transformation. They definitely lose a point for not including the shoulder missiles and why, oh why, couldn't that connecting bar retract fully in the Beta with a dual purpose Battloid/Fighter cradle attachment in the box? If the bar was going to be separate, I would have liked detents at the various positions with a tension clip/button to move it, too but all in all 100% better than the Alpha. Anyhoo, it makes me really wish that Toynami could learn from their mistake and do a v2 Alpha/Legioss incorporating the ratched joints from their Aoshima venture, improvement in quality to make the exploding arms a thing of the past and no f'ing arched back. I really hope they still do the Shadow Beta cause that ad in the booklet with the green one looks de'lish.

I agree, Yamato fine detail, texture, paint and details added to Bandai's sturdiness, ratcheted joints and solid construction would make for the ueber-valk. -
Ordinarily, I'm totally a fighter mode guy, but Basara was rarely in Fighter. Battroid was definitely his most important mode and his typical "parking" mode, unusually enough.

I forgot about the Mac Zero re-releases, but AFAIK, we don't know about anything else other than the VF-0S, VF-0A, which are due ~April IIRC but then nothing at all known except the VF-19 Kai which has no date (and probably closer to the end of the year rather than summer since we haven't heard a peep yet)
-
Is there nothing else in the pipe announced with a date for Yamato? VF-11C is out... we don't even have a time frame on the VF-19 Kai, do we?

I was exclusively checking the Compendium on this one and referenced it several times. Thinking this is a fat finger more than anything.

"Detailed strategic analysis indicates that the only viable strategic survival strategy now remaining for the United States is to terminate the Joint Strike Fighter program immediately, redirect freed funding to further develop the F-22 Raptor, and employ variants of the F-22 aircraft as the primary fighter aircraft for all United States and Allied TACAIR needs." Music to my ears. I'm dubious about his analysis, though I would love to see that alternative come about instead. His most questionable premise IMO is some other country putting up 400 x SU-35's. The PAK-FA looks cool and hopefully will lead to more F-22 but the Russians only plan 200 of these things with another 250 to India right? I'll be really surprised if the Russians meet that number. If they do, I'd like to see 2x that many F-22. All of his analysis seem to center on the USAF... what is the US Navy's plan? Stay with Super Bugs indefinitely?

10-11 more meters isn't that significant off of a .50 cal's range, really. Still, if I was designing the Tomahawk to be a replacement for a main battle tank while also being equipped to handle giant enemy infantry and the conjecture about their mecha... while at the same time being expected to take on other miclone sized enemies... I'd put a .50 on one side and a 7.62 on the other. The .50 will work but it's overkill on some applications and not nearly enough for the giants, of course.
