Yup. He had to die in the name of character development (for Hikaru).

< = s-video from PC to a big Sony 34" 16:9 HDTV. In fact, I'm using it as computer monitor as we speak... errr.... type. DSL with bittorrent helped with the d/l thing too. I still intend to buy (hopefully a good) bootleg set on DVD though once the series is complete (way too much money for such small content on dvd right now IMO). Well I'm hoping Bandai will lay the smack down on HG, but wouldn't mind if HG would play nice, kiss BW ass and become an undisputedly legit exporter of all things Macross, either. Seriously. Looks cool. Man, Shin seems to stink as bad as Hikaru. At least he hasn't been losing the arms (if not the whole valk), tho. heh.

Do the feet really open like that on takeoff when in fighter mode? I might have to leave some of my 1/48 feet telescoped out, then.
-
I don't think they would look good on a standard white/color stripe DYRL valk. Now on a cannon fodder they might look better... but I like low-viz for cannon fodder rather than brown anyways. Hopefully the Low-Viz isn't as limited as it's made out to be... or that there will be a different shade "mass production" low-viz later. I'd love it in 1/60, for example, as well as 1/48.

HMMP-02? Is that the missile pods for the FAST-pack boosters? I always thought those were NP-BP-01... what's the HMMP-02?

U might need to replay the game. I killed so many of these guys from heights (particularly Nar Shadaa) when i would simply Force Push them off the ledge or whatever. I used a fair amount of lightning, too. It's a Star Wars game that had Jedi in the title (not that many of those, try to list them!). I happen to like Star Wars for Jedi so this game was bliss and I have high expectations for Jedi Academy. Let's hope I'm not disapointed.

Haven't gotten Jedi Academy yet. Been busy. But Jedi Outcast rocks. I like the story of KotoR (on XBox) but the rpg based gameplay sucks IMO. I much prefer the Jedi Outcast/Academy engine. The story was pretty damned cool for Outcast. I thought multiplayer could be better implemented. Allow improved blaster skill, etc as an alternative to everyone having a lightsaber. "Mundane" melee weapons would be cool too. As far the lightsaber being too effective and regarding the Ep 2 Arena battle. Jedi can be killed by someone extraordinarily skilled (Jango vs dinosaur head) or by massed and/or concentrated fire. Which is how it is in the game. Plus the lightsaber was useless against the rocket launcher. They SHOULD use an upgraded/updated FPS engine instead of RPG crap and I'd pay for Galaxies (instead of using my friends occassionally)

It definately makes things sturdy. Still, you kind of wish such a thing could have been incorporated into the design of the valkyrie itself without being a seperate piece. Plus while the white piece might look nice on a DYRL-scheme valk, it sure sticks out on the low viz.

I don't have a problem with the 1/48 box size but can see why some do. For those that do, I will happily take their 1/48s (with boxes) from them.

The single most popular complaint is the head seam. Yamato sculpted the 1/48 -1S head in left and right halfs instead of front/rear like they did with the 1/60. Consequently there's a seam going right down the middle of the "face." Not that bad but it's there and I can't really think of a good reason why they did it that way. Then there were crooked skull emblems on one or both of the vertical stabilizers. The canopy woudln't stay open. And IIRC there might have been an issue with an ugly gap appearing on the seam of the nose when the landing gear were open (to some extent this applies to the whole 1/48 line I think, but I've never noticed it on my Low-Viz). I like Roy's scheme/character better than the Hikaru IS, but Roys old toy isn't as good as the new Hikaru will be. Roy's old one doesn't have the Max/Low-Viz fixes (IOW, a reissue and not the old one) and further has numerous examples of bad QC.

Sensors/radar, instrumentation, maybe a simple video feed. It's not like a Regult (or Mig-29, etc) can sneak up behind u or materialize out of nowhere.

All of the mecha of MII were pretty cool.

And with a gigantic advertisement right next to it, at that. Great custom.

My beef with the 1/48 heat shield (love that it's internal) is that you can't use it in fighter mode, which was seen in the anime (Hikaru coming down from orbit) and you CAN with a 1/60. And can't mention removing/adding parts without mentioning the 1/48 intake covers.

Do you guys remember the series EXOSQUAD?
Uxi replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm also interested in mpeg, but will take the avi's too. Can U FTP them somewhere? Best would be to burn DVD-Rs with em (i'd even pay for my DVDs of course) but I understand if that's not doable... An official DVD release with commentary and maybe extras would be incredible. I still have the toys but boxed em up and put em away. I loved Exo-Squad. Wish they would've had another season or two. I actually smelled too many Hitler/Nazi comparisons with the Neo-Sapiens and particularly Phaeton's madness. That excuses the clones, etc for me... he went bonkers. I thought the destruction of Mars was underplayed. Single best seen IMO is where the Resolute 2 de-cloaked and attacked the Neo-Sape flagship and there has got to be a couple hundred lasers going back and forth as it flies by and rakes it. It's what a full firing Star Destroyer SHOULD look like in the various SW simulator games. Robotech? Those alien "ships" in the last episode were nothing at all from Robotech. They had tentacles and were flourescent. Indeed much more like some space creature than any sort of ship. -
I imagine it would be techno-babbled as some sort of retrovirus thing that basically takes the "ingrediants" inside a human and rearranges the soup into the egg, so the mind would never come into it.

Then what about the ultimate bundle? Hikaru VF-1J with Fast Packs AND GBP? Now THAT would be a big box. And way higher priority (for me anyways) than the Monster, for example. I'm thinking this is more of an HLJ thing though I can see the Yamato test thing too. Just doesn't seem much like them, though.

In a word, "yes." But be prepared to pay if you're gonna import it. 1/48 for the masterpiece (heh) of your collection. 1/60 for variety and quantity IMO. Unless u have lots of money, in which case feel free to buy nothing but 1/48.
-
Heh, I noticed this too. Of course, this also applies to the RMS-1 missiles... and it also applied to my 3 1/60 VF-1s with some missile clusters/pods being really tight in one hardpoint but loose in another. So mix and match until they work. And thankfully it works for the single mini-missiles too, at least for me. These things are great. The right booster is a pain to get in and out of the backpack but the left one is niiiiiiice after putting it on and taking it off once or twice. The color scheme works great with the Low-Viz, too. Still, think I'm gonna have to start seriously hunting a Max -1A if I can't wait for the Hikaru 1S. My only complaint would be Yamato's basic design of the 1/48's arm lockign mechanism. It's not that great for the ordinary valkyrie IMO, and it's just worse in Super Valkyrie trim. Mine is ok and I don't have the arm sagging problem of some, but at least make the arm pegs a little longer (and the correspending holes deeper) if they can't put an additional locking mechanism for a future release...

And the Metal Siren.
-
Heh. Too bad Basara was a better pilot (by Gamlin's own admission) and that the VF-19 Kai is a better Valkyrie. Maybe Dokker in a Blazer Valk (or Max in a VF-22!) could do it, though.
-
Heh, would figure as soon as I opened my mouth... er keyboard... that when I went to the door saw the FP sitting there for who knows how long! Two thumbs up definately. After playing with the FP, think the boosters go on a little too tight... but that's for another thread.
-
I'm on day 14 today (Southern California) and haven't gotten my 1/48 FP yet. Not that big of a deal, but I can't wait to get them! The saved money is worth the wait for me as I have my VF-19A to tide me over until then. EDIT: Well next time i'll check the mail before typing such things. Was there literally right after posting this for I dont' know how long.

Oh yeah, one thing I think Toynami did BETTER than Yamato (even on the 1/48) is the hands.
-
I'm still hoping for them, but have all but given up hope that we'll ever see them. The time to release them would have been relatively quick IMO. There is still possibly a very slim chance but I think they're extremely unlikely to happen. More likely (and still not very) IMO, is that we'll see another run of Hikaru, Max, and CF 1As that are FAST Pack capable but that come with the UMM and AMM clusters and Yamato sells the Fast Pack sets seperately like they do with the 1/48 (boosters, 2 missile pods, 1 strike-cannon, arm and leg armor, and the RMS-1 missiles). Such a FAST pack set should be pretty cheap (20-30 bucks?) as we don't need any extra parts. Of course, if there would be such a "re-issue" I'd expect the necessary parts would be there as it'd be simple to have a few extra of the necessary parts made. The other non FP 1/60s? -1D just needs a set like I mentioned above as it's already FP capable. I think the Roy is out of luck as Yamato already makes (made?) the Strike.
