Not bad at all. And more appropriate than a russian or chinese SKS style one IMO (leave that for the SV-51). Any Americanized design deserivative of the F-14 needs a bayonet like that.

Heh. They're easily available at Frank & Sons combined with Clone Wars DVD.
-
Right now, my Low-Viz. Then probably the YF-21FP. Then probably the Anakin Clone Wars starfighter. I'm anticipating the Masterpiece Optimus Prime/Convoy to maybe edge out the YF-21 if not the low-viz...

SW starfighters are clearly seen using "targeting computers" even against other starfighters. Visibility isn't needed for a pure space fighter, as the TIE is. And partly it's in their paradigm to be rather expendable. They horde and attack en masse, using numbers and the presence of their carriers (Star Destroyers) to overwhelm the opposition. The OTM "overtech" is a blatant crutch and application of (Arthur C) Clarke's Law. It's always used to explain the things that don't pass the bullshit test. In this case it's canopies and hints of Star Trek's "transparent aluminum" or something. In any case, realism when combined with transforming robots is almost an oxymoron.

"You're a mean one... Mr Grinch."

I like the Clone Wars version. A bit inelegant but meaner looking. In fact, think I prefer it to the pseudo-TIE fighter business that's apparently cooking for Episode III...

Damn... kinda pricey! Yeah it's big, but it should be largely hollow and doesn't transform. January?? Reminds me how much in the dark we are about what's happening... maybe if I had babelcrapped that last Yamato newsletter...

Well I was a 96 overall and GT 128. Pretty high. Yes, tanks and infantry were my top 2 choices. -
It looks ok. Don't know whether i'll see it or not... possibly...
-
Hmm well that came out wrong. I like ya A1, I just think you willingly exaggerates your position on M7. As far as Togo... I think there's more depth in M7 because of it's longer length. Every character (except maybe Basara) grows substantially. Gamlin and Mylene the most. I even think Basara comes along a bit... which is more than Isamu did in M+. Don't get me wrong, I like M+, M7 just has more meat and potatoes to it.

I'm interested in recasts too... anyone? TV uniforms would be great!
-
That's what I'm talking about!

Looks pretty good. Please don't do that to a Low-Viz though... get a Max or 1st issue Hikaru or Roy or something...
-
You're wondering why a Civilian had an advanced Valkyrie... Gamlin wonders too but is blocked in his research. Later on, we learn that Max himself knows about it and comments about Basara's flying in that context... Then we'll hear hints about "Project M" and Ray's involvement with it (with Basara's unwitting complicity). Basara was being used as an experimental tool of the UN Spacy long before Sound Force was created... I like M7 especially once City 7 gets separated from the fleet. It's alot deeper than SDF in many ways. It's easily deeper than M+, which was too short to effectively compete against the main series (but could compare against MD7). The infamous Macross "love triangles" weren't as interesting, but the plot was better in a few ways. Definately suffered from budget/animation difficulties but like every Macross series it brings something different to the table. Overall, I like it better than SDF and DYRL but it's neck and neck with M+. Some of the detractors have legitimate points. Some guys like A-1 are so ludicrous in their posting about it, they have very little credibility on it except for making themselves look like asses.

USMC M1A1 tank commander. Deployed for Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Back from Baghdad. Oo-rah to the other Marines. The Squids can find their baby blue shirts and bell bottoms and leave their posts (machine guns) like they did on my last float when the weather got bad. Army? Ain't Ready for Marines Yet. Jk, anyone putting on a uniform has got SOME respect for me... even if they're weak and undisciplined non-combatants in girlie uniforms. jk. -
Too bad they're not in the 5-10$ range. They'd be good for that, but when I see them for 15-20, it's too much. Some of HLJ's sales look pretty good, but u get stuck with S&H of course. One of these days i'll buy 2 or 3 Super/Strike CF-s and a main character one or two.... one of these days...

It'd be neat to see some pics of the TV VF-1J's FAST-Packs on the Low-Viz. I think the DYRL packs look fine... not enough to justify another scheme certainly, but if the TV ones look better...

The "movie" is a pretty good episode of the series but doesn't quite fit. There's a few decent missile salvos from Emilia's Q-rau but are useless against a Protodelvin, of course. On it's own, it served to interest me in the main series, so I think it's pretty good. The OVA is worth it just to see Gamlin and his VF-22S in action towards the end. The whales and the story are different, but not bad. Graham and his Ahab shtick was kinda corny, though. Ignore A-1's fixation on teletubies, handjobs, and Michael Jackson.

It worked for mine. U sure u're doing it right?
-
Just use elmers glue for 1, 2, 5. It's not permanent and will more than do the job. That's an "old school" 1/48 FAST-pack trick.

Oh yeah forgot to critique the movie in my contemplation of a Silmarillion Trilogy. Pro: Awesome battles. Great use of the olliphant/mumakil. Nice camera/computer work with Minas Tirith and the dead army especially. Good adaptation. Not perfect, but just about as much as possible. Nice use of flashbacks for those who haven't read the books and/or watched the previous movies recently. Con: The scene I was most anticipating didn't make it on screen. That was Gandalf and the Witch King meeting at the Gate of Gondor. Instead of just that, all kinds of stuff broke in. Most disapointing... I wanted to see Theoden take down the Chieftain of the Haradrim and THEN have the Witch King come upon him (though the pterodactyl/fell-beast thing tossing Theoden & horse was a nice touch). Wasn't that big of a deal to me, though, since the way it was done was done well. WTF was up with Arwen supposedly dying to mortal? Unnecessary alteration to the plot. The knuckle heads who want to clap and cheer through the whole movie... especially bad at the beginning credits. What is this, Star Wars? I didn't clap or cheer during any SW movie (even when the LFL or SW banners or opening), though I understand why some people were for that (mostly due to the enormous span of time between Original Trilogy and Prequels). Nits: Denethor didn't have any redeeming qualities in the movies. In the books he's a good leader, and doesn't lose it until Faramir comes back incapacitated. In the movie, he's a selfish arrogant prick from the get go. Could woudln't they have expanded the coronation scene into the wedding with Arwen? Why pretend Aragorn couldn't know she was coming? They could have better added drama to the Aragorn/Arwen thing by taking a page right from the appendices of Return of the King. That is Elrond's ultimatum to Aragorn that he would only yield his daughter to the King. Along with the silver rod of the King of Arnor (though there apparently is NO Arnor in the movie adaptation). Would have been far better than the Arwen mortal/dying thing.

That's what I'm talking about. Make it a trilogy. First one is about Feanor and the Silmarils (Iluvatar, Melkor and Valar and the Song and all that can be a summarized intro). Leave the Valar as something grandiose and rarely seen. I have nice visions of what the visuals for Manwe on this throne could be. Melkor killing Feanor and stealing the Simlarils and the Exile of the Noldor. End with the Noldor returning to to Middle Earth and set up the Siege of Angband. 2nd movie about the War against Morgoth. Mostly focusing on the battles of the Noldor against Morgoth. Maybe have the Edain appear towards the end, but in the background. Have the Dagor Bragollach and Morgoth crushing Fingolfin towards the middle. End with the story of Beren and Luthien. 3rd movie have the Edain and Noldor crushed up to the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. Crush everything built up by the heroes in the first. The end of Doriath. Story of Tuor and Idril in the beginning. End (naturally) with Earendil and Elwing and the Great Battle.

Of course. Never meant to imply YOU were gonna do the "bash fest" just wanted to pre-empt certain others from turning this thread into that. Sorry if it came out that way. Hopefully such a Yamato would copy the Yellow Submarine (?) versions but be transformable... as well as having the Prometheus and Daedalus (as I mentioned above), in addition to the 2 ARMDs.

Yeah that's been a concern of mine in getting a Roy these days. I don't wanna get stuck with an original issue... but the headrest thing should give it away. I'm much more likely to get a Hikaru-1S anyways. Still vainly wish they'd resculpt the head in front/back halves but that ain't gonna happen.

Heh, History Channel just had a thing on the F-14 last night. Pretty impressive. Wish they had decided on an upgrade program. I like the F-18 and understand how the F-14 is more maintenance intensive, but it'll be a shame to see them go.
