Yeah that acting is just horrible. Nice SFX, though. I thought "Checkov's" accent was the best par of the actingt.

Gamlin. I was kinda expecting that from the first question... but I am a bit more surprised at how common Gamlin is... I'm assumign there's a Max or Milia out there. too...

No way to say this until one has an actual MPC Alpha in hand. I give the MPC VF-1 more credit than the chunky monkey, actually... and I don't own an MPC while I DO own a chunky monkey VF-1A...

Nice pics. Definately makes me want to get a Q-rau. Hopefully they'll do a green one.

Definately seems overpriced... I think an MSRP between 7800 and 9800 yen would have been more reasonable... but I do understand it's production volume is probably more limited than any trim of VF-1 (except maybe the Low-Viz). I may or may not get one... I'm definately gonna wait a bit... might regret it (if it proves rare enough that prices start climbing) but we'll see...

Wow surprising. This thing's fists should be the model that Yamato goes by. It doesn't have GI Joe Kung Fu death grip, true, but it's far far better than 1/48 skeleton hands, for example, in holding Primes Ion cannon, Megatron or Matrix... Hell the thing can give a double Stone Cold Salute... The legs have every range of motion as a 1/48 VF-1... And it feels alot sturdier... Poor quality? This thing blows Yamato out of the water and is better than even Bandai. I don't see how "not getting it" could translate to "poor quality" and unpossable... maybe you did get a lemon...

Wanna give any more "detail"? What do you like the most? The least?
-
It would definately sell more than the Monster, but would have to. Unlike the Monster it transforms though it's relatively simple and doesn't need anime magic or terrible ingenuity to accomplish. And it'd probably be $300 bucks. But if it could be under $100, have a 1/48 comparable Daedalus/Prometheus add-on (any Yamato release would be undoubtedly DYRL with ARMDs) and maybe some micro-machine sized valkyries or something (still out of scale but would be cool for play-value), it'd sell like hot cakes. Maybe an anniversary special that has 4 arms (ARMDs and the carriers) with light and SFX and extra detail would be worth $300... but no reason why an "ordinary" version would need to be.

Yeah the Vader head looks the best (reminds me of the first Special Edition VHS release) but I like the Light vs Dark, too, kinda... I'm imagining these coming out will match the Ep I and Ep II DVDs (at least on the "spine" edge so they all look the same on a shelf - I'll chuck the box in the closet or something)...

Abomination? The FP is every bit better than my friend's normal version. Just the folding legs made it so much of an improvement in fighter mode... The rest is just typical Yamato QC... sometimes hit, sometimes miss... luckily I got a hit. Yes a resculpt would be ok, but really I'd have prefered a YF-19FP based on the old sculpt with resculpts to come later. This ungodly delay is making me lose enthusiasm... and I'm thinking the new YF-19 is gonna look out of place compared to the toys its supposed to be with... (and with sales of the YF-21FP and VF-11B FP not apparently marvelous given the good prices both can be gotten at, I'm not expecting resculpts of them for quite some time). Leave the fancy stuff for 1/60 scale versions... KISS for 1/72 IMO.

Some pretty good designs in there... too bad most of that never saw US release I bet (i'm not into BT, so I could be wrong)...
-
I hear ya. It would take only a minimal changes for each. Moreoever, the parts for the VF-22S are *already sculpted* (See Graham's review). I don't think there are enough problems with the YF-21FP to merit a redesign... maybe ratcheded hips and a revision of the FP covers to include folding landing gear (there's more room in the FP covers than there is in the original leg covers!). VF-11C some FP changes and a different paint scheme is the only difference IIRC. The Full armor would be a separate add-on comparable to the GBP (which is essentially what it is... GBP for the VF-11). And THEN they can do a VF-X VF-17D & S. That's just for VF-X versions... If they want to do M7 and have Max and Milia VF-22S and M7 VF-11C's and Diamond Force VF-17's as well as Emerald Force VF-19's, who am I to argue? Or Bandai could decide to compete and show them how it's done...

Definately Regult, though I want green Nos-Ger's and Q-rau's, too...
-
This has been discussed before. I'm all for it. I'd like a very minimally articulated pilot (head on a ball joint, shoulders, hips maybe on ball joints but not necessarily) that could be in a neutral pose as well as sitting in the cockpit. Weapon racks and extra missiles... Include fixed-position 1/60 style hands for the 1/48... etc
-
It's only a problem with the 1A. The 1J and 1S are fine. But the vast majority of the UN Spacy's VF-1's are the good ol 1A ... I've noticed it a few times (when messing around with the low-viz more than with any of my 1/60 1A's)... but was always too lazy to try a search.

Yeah, as WWII and now the Cold War fades into memory, France and Germany are definately shaping up to be future foes rather than the allies they had been against the Soviets. I see the Brits staying neutral if not at least slightly sympathetic to the US... Course which way Russia and China goes would determine exactly how the EU orients towards the US... In either case, the US would bury the EU in a war IMO. Even unified, Europe can't match the economic output of the US. If the US industry was in war mode (i'm talking rationing and confiscation of metals, etc), we could well see Super Tomcats and F-23's and such being churned out. Output would be enormous and everything from the UK to Italy and Greece (with everything in between) would have to be a part of that to match it. The F-22/F-35 combo would be sufficient to hold the line with the rest of the Cold War legacy fighters under the future force was fielded... I don't see it going to that WWIII-scale level of conflict, even assuming the worse, though.

Has the F-16 ever been in an actual documented dogfight? Or even F-15's? I'm aware of the few publically known conflicts the F-14 has had (mostly Libya). which isn't a whole lot itself... I'm mixed myself... Why does a harrier-replacement even need to be supersonic? Don't need supersonic or supercruise for a CAS fighter. I know from my M1A1 I'd prefer to have a Harrier or A-10 or even Cobra's/Apaches up there to keep helo's off... than something that blazes through faster than sound (and is somehow gonna visually distinguish my tank from a T-72)... Leave the fixed-wing stuff for the air superiority fighters like the F-15/F-22... that's their sole purpose of existence... As long as the F-35 is capable of mounting a gun (and it appears it is), then I think it should be a good multi-role plane. Sounds like it will replace the Harrier and F-18 well enough... though I'm not sure about the F-16, since I dont' know the roll it fills in the USAF... CAS for the Army?

Has anyone noticed the conflict between a VF-1A's landing gear with it's head laser? So I suppose pilots fully extend their laser down (or turn the head) so they can deploy and retract their landing gear? Discuss. I did a search but wasn't finding anything regardless of how many keyword shuffles I did..
-
I'm mixed. I do like the way it looks. I don't care about die cast (My YF-21FP is perfect. The VF-19A sucks bad, especially bad chipping on the legs)... My 1/60s are good with only the Roy having bad chipping on one leg)... though the irony of the missing die-cast draws a smile and a hint of deja-vu. Exchange rates still kinda stink, though not as bad as they've been recently. I dont' think I'm willing to pay more than $100 OTD. Hopefully this thing will be in VF-11B FP and YF-21FP pricing soon... But I do think this thing should have been between 7800 and 9800 yen MSRP. It can't have been hard to engineer compared to a valkyrie. So it's all in the sculpt and in the materials, which definately raises an eyebrow with it's 12,800 yen MSRP...

Or Luke in ANH.... or the wacky Yoda.... or the ewoks.... or C3PO.... People just don't like admitting that SW has always been for kids. That's what I'm talking about. This one is gonna be good, that's for sure.

Yeah it does look pretty good. I may or may not get one... too bad no holidays coming up.

I liked Batman Forever but the last one was hit and miss (pieces I liked, most that I didn't). But the first 2 are nothing special at all IMO. Tim Burton is way overrated. This new one? I may or may not see it. Depends what else is out. I would have preferred they kept the one timeline going but oh well. Course they keep shooting themselves in the foot by killing the villains... which is what Batman is NOT supposed to do. He's supposed to want to kill them but restrain himself. Eh.

I'd prefer green Q-rau to purple. I woudln't be sweating the mold details. They can leave it DYRL featured as long as it's green. There's even precedent of a sorts for this as they released the 1/60 Hikaru Super VF-1J with DYRL Fast packs and pilots uniform, so.... I dunno about a blue Max one, either... Not likely to get the M&M 1/48's so that doesn't bother me. Same with the GBP in 1/48. (Though definately in 1/60). Yeah... WTF is up with the YF-19FP... I can wait for Zero. I imagine it's inevitable but I want to complete my M+ collection!

YF-21FP is a great toy. I don't think you'll be dissapointed. You can't afford any other Yamato's except 1/60s. GBP armor maybe... but only if you already have another 1/60 to put it on...
