The toys look great. I built my own "ultimate" Vader out of the numerous figures there were at the time (legs from the gunner station for extra height, arms from the duel, torso/head from the removable helmet). I even did some circuitry for the removable hand and made a 2 piece helmet (separate dome and mask)... But that looks cool!

Wich means nothing to the movies. The books and comics may be "official", but it has been proven time and again that they are not, nor ever have been, canon. The only things that are canon is what appears in the movies themselves, and what George Lucas himself says. And Lucas himself has also put a large apparatus in place to see that the EU isn't contradicted. While he reserves the right to contradict the EU, he hasn't done so yet (especially not beyond a "certain point of view").

Returned to CN, "The Clone Wars" has, hmmm.
Uxi replied to mechaninac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You must not have seen many movies. I honestly don't see how the OT got put on a pedestal like it has been because it really is the same old crap. Seriously. Clone Wars is a cool cartoon, though. -
Oh, I think it was very easy for Palpatine to escape Jedi suspicion, if only because the Jedi of this time are insular, content to sit inside their ivory tower with the knowledge that they're on top of everything that needs knowing in the galaxy. That could well apply to the Jedi as a whole... but I don't think so with the Jedi Council. What Mace admits to Yoda in AOTC is that the Jedi are losing their ability with the Force and wants to tell the Senate before Yoda disagrees. Dooku also tells Obi-Wan that Darth Sidious has "clouded their vision." Ultimately, it could depend just how long Palpatine was working his bad mojo in the Senate before the Naboo crisis.

Unfortunately, that's been done before and implemented better IMO. Now that Baltar has made it in politics / power, I wonder if we're going to see him turn into an actual traitor like the original Baltar instead of just the dupe/stooge he has been so far. It seems apparent that the Cylons have an agenda in allowed the fleet to escape so they can foster the environment they're looking to create... as well as keep potential breeding stock, or whatever else that entails. And then there's the "it's happened before... and it will happen again..." schtick that blondie was telling Baltar.

But yeah, I like my VF-19A. I wouldn't bother with the gaps, etc on the YF-19
-
Yeah its definitely time for a refresh. In the meantime, i'd be happy to see a mildly refitted YF-19FP (to beat that dead horse) with the ultimate objective being 1/60 scale YF-19FP and YF-21FP for the 25th anniversary

Im getting a bit bored with the drama/politics parts of the show. Plus, at least for the last few episodes, they've kinda lost the constant sense of being stalked by the Cylons that the original series had (and really hasn't been demonstrated since the first episode of the season).

I don't really think it would be the same thing. While in story, the Jedi HAVE been looking to find out who the OTHER Sith was... Maul would have been the enemy the Jedi put their label on and then Dooku would be the "other" Sith. Sidious would have been behind in the Shadows the whole time. As is, I don't think Palpatine would have escaped the Jedi suspicion, especially in the 10 years between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

Wow, don't know if anyone was following the spoilers in the message board that was linked a couple pages back, but pretty much confirms most of the rumors.

If the Jedi had stuck to their guns, they would have trusted their instincts and never trained Anakin at all. Anakin's training played right into Sidious' plans. As far as the prequel Jedi versus the original trilogy Jedi... in the OT, it was only old men, half machine cripples, and a half trained boy. The prequel Jedi need CG because they're Jedi in their prime, as are their enemies. Considering the prequels in general... I kinda wish Maul had lived the whole time. I like the variety of enemies from Maul to Tyranus to Grevious... I think they could have still had that variety. Imagine if Obi-wan realizes he's beaten, so lets himself drop (kind of a homage to Luke in Empire Strikes Back). Maul realizes battle is lost, returns to his Master doing the ginsu to some hapless Naboo or Gungans on the way out. Maul would have been the recurring enemy, again beating Obi-Wan and this time Anakin in AOTC before coming to a draw with Yoda and starting the war. Nothing against Christopher Lee... and I like the idea of the grizzled old Jedi turning to the Sith for whatever reasons... but I like the idea of Maul being the symbol of the prequels Vader and only giving way to the symbol of the OT... Vader.

Well at least in the novelization, they say they think he's too old to be taught that discipline from without... and that they don't trust him to master it within.

Yeah Superman has got to be the corniest of the superheroes. Ah, irony.

When is a Star Trek no longer a Star Trek?
Uxi replied to Magnus's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That sounds pretty weak. But then this is Star Trek. The trekies should be used to it by now. -
Pretty good trailer. Finally got it in the 640 x 320 form. As far as the novelizations, Hurin, there's a bit more to Empire's (particularly in Luke's training, the rod in seven pieces, etc) but agreed not nearly as much as New Hope's or Jedi.

And outside of the licensing issues, there's the rub.
-
Good stuff. Can't wait for this movie.

That Alpha looks pretty cool in the white/black jolly rogers scheme. I might have chosen some different particulars, but pretty good to imagine that's what "Max Sterling" would be flying against the Regent.

This game is great. Especially on my 16:9 HDTV through component. I'm thinking I might need to upgrade to the 900 logitech wheel, though... It would be good if some of the cars that are missing were there... but we have licensing issues mostly to blame for this.
-
Heh, good stuff. That would be pretty funny to have Obi-wan be the bad guy, but not gonna happen.

Stardoe Dirk Benedict is the man. That said for that article, he's on in some places, but miss in others. While "Stardoe" isn't as entertaining a character as the Real original Starbuck, it's still a good character. It's just not the same character in anything other than name. I would have much preferred gritty sequel than gritty remake, but this show is still pretty good. So far.

As far as the gap of the arms in the fighter, pay attention to the post on page 1 or 2... It's all about making sure the torso is compacted. I had a very slight extension. Now that I made sure I pinched it close during the latest transformation the arms are perfect. I'm actually questioning the need for the torso to telescope out from the chest like that... but it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I'm definately getting a Shadow. And thinking of another Lancer...

Japan's best bet is not their own self-defense fighter, but to fund a wing or two of USAF F-22 to be based in Japan.

Sounds about right... Good stuff. Now more pics, please. You know you have em.

No where are the pics? Let that other thread die, please.
