  1. Though it had little military/strategic/story consistency logic, seeing all them Raptors going into jump sure did look cool...
  2. Finally saw a premium at Target without having to wait in line or sign up in advance and decided to go for it. I got Madden and Full Auto. Also updated for the backward compatibility and was playing KOTOR (the only game I kept when I sold off my original XBOX). Pretty noice! Looks incredible with 1080i output on my 1080p 60" SXRD. I do like NBA games... anyone here have any personal anecdotes on whether 2k6 or Live is better?
  3. All I know is I got my 60" Sony SXRD ready for either one. I'm glad I passed on the 360 so far. Hopefully by the time the PS3 is out, there will be a price drop and and the kinks have all been worked out. I am getting kinda itchy though. I'd like to give the PS3 a grace period, as well.. which the market may or may not force on me... but I am getting kinda itchy for some HD gaming goodness. Pardon me for not going through 70 pages. What's everyone gonna be playing their 360 ON?
  4. Nice pics, though. I love the blade on the Luke Ep VI and like the handle. It's easily the lightest of the handles and feels nice and cool. I actually think the thick neck makes more sense than the prop accurate thinner one, if for durability if nothing else. The control box doesn't get in the way like the Anakin model. The blade of the Mace is probably the most disapointing. It's great to have purple but just can't do purple LED's that compare in brightness to the blue/red/green of the other FX sabers. On it's own it's great. And the Sound FX on the Ep III are much improved over the Ep II. I'd have to say that the Ep3 Anakin is my favorite, both from aesthetics of of it's industrial look to be being prop accurate. The blade is bright and the sound FX loud. I'd prefer the D-ring ot the belt clip though for hand placement ala Ep IV/V They're all great, though, IMO.
  5. Kinda. Most of the ideas don't seem that original to me, though the synthesis can be semi interesting, if not for all the frustratingly lost/ignored opportunities. The implications seem obvious that the Cylons have allowed Galactica to escape and that they have their own agenda with putting the Colonial humanity on the brink. The moral conundrum of the Cylons is false, though typical of the politically correct. The fact that they wiped out the Colonial civilization is one thing. Enemies can do despicable times to each other at times. The fact that Sharon can change loyalties instantly without any hesitation is another. Couple this with the a "power corrupts" angle given human-form Cylon strengths... I think that ultimately the Cylons have the long term of goal that we've seen hinted at with the evidence of their breeding program and allowing Galactica to survive. 1) Get the answer that V'ger sought. Shades of Data, as well. They already have emotions but are trying to find more in at least the twelve models. They're hoping to duplicate that with biological reproduction and spontaneously induced mutation rather than their cold reproduction methods. 2) They actually want to reach Earth and are using the Galactica to find it for them, as well as progressing their experiments at the same time. The biggest part of the original Pegasus story was that Cain had survived all along only by making a deal with the devil. It seems that Butch Cain has done something metaphorically similar though she's not just lacking the flare and charisma of Lloyd Bridges, but the tragedy, as well. But then that's a story for humanity in general as depicted on the show. Original BSG humanity's defeat was tragic but hopeful. This BSG's humanity's fall is pathetic and filled with angst.
  6. Meh, I'd have still preferred a continuation or another Battlestar escaping in a different direction or something. A different "point of view." I think the best opportunity was a whole "next generation" type of thing with these guys all being descendents of the original Galactica... Possibly even had them settled down on some world that gets wiped out in the way we saw in the mini. Someone should dub a random language there and then subtitle a new story. Seems too obvious where they're going IMO (that the Cylons deliberately allowed them out so they could pursue their selective breeding program)... This Galactica is one giant lab rat.
  7. I have read about bent blades, but I'm skeptical that the included stand is the problem. Nearly all of the weight of my Windu on the stand (mounted on the wall) is on the hilt and the blade just very lightly rests on the other end. I think a more likely suspect is dueling.
  8. Ah, great walkthrough. I knew someone had to have tackled this already. I should be able to proceed with a minimum amount of experimentation. One of my buddy's has the older Windu. Maybe I'll see if he wants to part with his so I can dissect that one first.
  9. These things are addicting. I told myself I wasn't getting these, but I lasted about 2 days after getting the Windu Force FX before I had to get the Luke from Borders, through my hookup ($90 bucks woot!). Since the power up feature is only done through turning the LED's on and off sequentially, it makes sense that the featured isn't retained after conversion to LED. Nice pics Chowser... uh... did you say the original is the on the RIGHT? That one looks brighter in near every pic... What I'm actually thinking I want to do is get a stock LED blade removable. Keep the LED's in the blade but have it be removable. The key is in getting up some male/female connector and having the blade be sturdy enough as normal when attached (most likely necessitating metal brackets to either the electronic core or metal hilt)... So can anyone tell me where the screw access is on the Windu? Reading the forums at fx-sabers.com seems to indicate I need to go the hex screws under the pleather covering the handle opposite the electronics... but I don't want to peel it off and worry about reattaching it if that's a dead end... and does the gold emitter ring on the top just unscrew or are there little screws inside those tiny holes?
  10. The Luke was going for $175 at Frank & Sons... I've got a friend who works at a Borders and says she is gonna try to hook me up... we'll see. I got my Windu for $100 after some bargaining.
  11. Yessir, I'm using my Saitek X35/X36 and have just about everything mapped for the space fighters. I have the mouse/keyboard pretty much set to my Battlefield:Vietnam / Battlefield 2 maps so am back to wrecking carnage. While all of the Jedi are pretty cool, seems to me like Luke Skywalker is the Bad-Ass Mofo... followed by Mace and then by Maul...
  12. I picked up a Windu FX. How did you take it apart Mechamaniac? Unlike the Vader, I'm not seeing any screws... I imagine they're hidden under the pleather... and would like to benefit from someone else's blind prodding before I do it myself.
  13. I'm more interested in the PS3 but will probably end up with both.
  14. When Galaxies was announced, I was hoping it would be like Jedi Outcast/Academy but with some interaction and non-Jedi advancement. Instead it took the worst elements of KotoR and ignored just about everything from every other element. Space went a long way to keep me subscribed for 6 more months. I'm a Rebel Ace and master in a couple things (rifleman and about 2/3 towards commando).... I let my subscription lapse, but I'm not opposed to reactiving my toon should it turn into Battlefront 2 with interaction.
  15. If you pretend 10 years were between Ep 2 and Ep 3 it makes the age thing a bit easier. Besides, a 10 Clone War is much more epic than a 3-year one...
  16. Pretty good DVD. I got the Target Coin to go with it. I'm hoping for a Diamond Encrusted Ueber Edition of all 6 now, hopefully with all of the deleted scenes edited in (and hopefully some of the ones we know exist but haven't been included, particularly for the original trilogy).
  17. Pretty fun game. I only played the first one on console, but I got BF2 for PC. Pretty cool and I like the space part probably best so far, where I use my Saitek X36. I was expecting the PC version to be more like Jedi Outcast/Academy, etc so some of it's kinda weird, but still pretty enjoyable.
  18. This thread is hilarious. But yeah, I somehow am not too worried about the Death Cloud.
  19. Yup yup. This is a war for the species. Whatever humans have done, the Cylons have done worst as they're perpetrated genocide and nuked their planets. If the Soviets had nuked the Eastern seaboard during the Cuban Missile Crisis, we would have annihilated their entire civilization from the Baltic through Sibera to Vladovistok and from the northern tip to the southern boarder and probably most of the Eastern Bloc to go with it. Meek and gentle people sitting safe and sound behind their computers are only free to do so because rough men are ready to do violence on their behalf.
  20. I am really suspicious of the Pegasus in plot, too. As with the TOS Pegasus, Cain has a dark side. Which we've all seen. This new Cain just doesn't have the charisma and living legend aspects of the original so it's all negative with little positive (aside from the obvious of bringing a second Battlestar into the equation). I am thinking there is more to this Cain, though. The original made a deal with the devil (literally) while the good guys were being watched over by the flying snowflake. This time, no snowflakes and probably no "Count Iblis" , either. This Cain was is either a coward or a collaborator. The former has already been discussed a bit... the latter... maybe there IS a Count Iblis analogue we haven't seen yet. Human-form cylon / lover or something on the opposite form of Baltar? Forbes seems far too frigid for that so far, but maybe we're being deliberately misled? The rape was the one thing that was perfectly understandable as the human form cylons are just that, human-form cylons. They're not human. Toasters made up with skin and bones to look and act like people but still toasters.. Has everyone forgotten about Starbuck's torture of Galactica's captured Cylon? The normal rules don't apply and a brutal hand is called for with the extinction of the species at hand. Someone brought up Platoon. :shudder: Horrible movie but typical hollyweird depiction of Vietnam. Bumbling dividied US troops where boy scouts are more disciplined, professional, and can set up a better perimeter. Versus well trained and highly motivated enemy. Besides, who sets up their HQ in an ammo dump?
  21. Don't forget the complete lack of charisma.
  22. If the subtitles sound like something from Babelfish, then it's definitely a boot leg. If it makes perfect sense, it's a fansub bootleg. If it's somewhere in between, and/or has a corny sounding dub, it's legit.
  23. Heh, I remember this one. Think I might still have it on VHS somewhere. I thought it was pretty funny. The tagline was something like "when he gets turned on, he turns into a 10 foot tall blue monster" or something like that.
  24. Michael Douglas is a shitty actor anyway. Charisma definitely needed... Patrick Stewart! Now you're talking.
