I saw the Maul dual at Frank & Sons today. I'm thinking I'll wait... it will probably $150 and less for the dual pack in a couple months... Besides, I finally found a Hikaru VF-1S for a reasonable price (and we're talking 2002 prices here). Box was dinged up but I'm opening and stickering up anyways and gonna toss the box (maybe keep the front flap).

What the... ? When did animated avatars get prohibited? I only notice the sound during startup. I do sit between 9 and 12 feet away, though (It's an L-shaped couch opposite my SXRD... apex/corner is the farthest, of course).

I usually find everything I want a Frank & Sons... Often more expensive than I want to pay, but you can usually barter (especially if you're spending high dollar and/or in quantity, if not developing a regular consumer relationship from certain of the vendors - I've gotten deals simply because I've bought 2 or 3 times before and asked). Now some of the harder to find and/or out of production stuff (I've been dying for a 1st Gen Unifive Gatchaman Godphoenix with the fiery shroud), I'm stuck with ebay... I have to say my VF-1 Valkyrie kick has been largely sated. Wish I could find a Hikaru VF-1S for a reasonable price, though. Star Wars figures are better than ever, even if there's a lack of vehicle support from Hasbro right now... The only thing that could be better for me would be the return of Action Fleet. My TIE Defender would love to have a Wingman... and the things I could do with customization! GI Joe was pretty cool before the Sigma 6 garbage. I loved the army builder sets they were doing... And the realistic military stuff is damned cool.

Plasmas pros are it's small footprint and vibrant colors. A little too vibrant. These are offset by hihg power costs, burn in concerns, and the fact that there's a definite (and relatively short) lifespan. DLP is definitely not all it's cracked up to be. Rainbows and wobulation are just the chief flaws of the specific technology. The rest of it's relative negatives are what it shares with other rear projection (consumable high intensity bulbs, larger footprint - though not nearly as massive as CRT) LCD is the poor cousin of HDTV as far as PQ. The only thing going for it as far as I see is it's tiny footprint. That leaves LCoS. SXRD is the best PQ I've managed to see (as you might have seen if you've managed to catch the recent setups they've been doing, coupled with DVR with the full "Hawaii" loop). Just about every Cable / Sat HD feed is currently suffering from compression issues... HD-DVD/Blu-Ray should be marvelous to behold. Not much longer now... Far cheaper than plasmas of equivalent size and resolution... And then there's always JVC's D-ILA if you're on budget. Negatives: QC concerns (caused many companies to abandon it's efforts), but these seem largely anecdotal rather than fundamental to the technology. Also consumable bulbs and footprint, though these two are rather subjective. SED looks like it could be killer. The footprint of LCD with the PQ of LCOS. That is if the endless delays and rescheduling coupled with the pluging prices of DLP and LCoS don't make SED anything other than the vaporhardware it might become. IMO, Toshiba should be backing SED far more than the effort it's put behind HD-DVD...

Wow, that does look cool. I don't remember Cain looking like that. :ph3ar:

The EE-3 looks pretty cool!

As I've posted a couple times I use my 360 with my 60" SXRD and it looks great. I was hardcore CRT for years and never thought I would go rear projection but the black levels and contrast ratio on this thing are incredible. If LCOS has a weakness, it's in color uniformity. While my set doesn't exibit any symptoms, there are reports of folks with various issues, though you get the usual smattering of trolls and idiots obfuscating, if not magnifying the issue. As is, I think LCOS is the best bang for the buck without any of the drawbacks of the other technologies. My previous 36" CRT HDTV (since relegated to bedroom duty) is just massive, weighing it at nearly double the weight of my 60" SXRD. None of the rainbows and/or resolution trickery you'll see in wobulated-DLP, etc.

From a gaming perspective, replacing consoles every few years is far cheaper than replacing gaming systems. My current computer rig (3.2P4 with 2GB of DDR400, overclocked 6800GT, etc is still pretty good, but pricing all that out shows quite a bit of sticker shock, even compared to the likes of my premium XBOX 360. More and more of the serious gamers are going to dual SLI 7800GTXs, etc. Eventually, we'll see games that will not only shine with this, but 'need it' for settings on 'high.' If there are actually decreasing numbers of releases for the consoles (which is the first time I've heard that, actually, but I won't bother to dispute or support), I think that would be offset by the backwards compatibility. The original Knights of the Old Republic looks quite good on my XBOX 360, for example... PS3 having full backwards compatibility with PS2 and PS games creates an enormous library.

Since this post was today, you must be serious... Sam gave birth as some women he had leapt into, didn't he? I wasn't an avid dedicated watcher of the series but was usually entertained by it if there was nothing else on. He was affected by the biology (ie hormones, etc) of his host IIRC. So when he leapt into someone retarded, etc, he didn't have his full mental faculties and had to struggle. IOW, if he leapt into a woman, he wouldn't have all of the male 'compulsions' to scratch, etc. At least on a physical level. Hypothetically, any mental quirks should still be present, so if he was mentally addicted to a certain activity, that would/should still follow. Either way, I could see him pissing on his/her legs/floor maybe the first couple times. Then he would get it right. IOW, us seeing him is an audience convenience... and him seeing himself is "residual self image" ala Matrix.

I really liked the Hama GI-Joe comic back in the day. By the time they were explaining the whole Snake-Eyes/Stormshadow red ninja clan thing I was already pretty much out of it, and just going with inertia (though that was pretty cool). I missed the whole carnage of the original Joes and BF2000, etc. TF the movie rocked. That still makes a decent movie. I remember liking the season after as a kid, but I bought part 2 of the DVD's and boy that sucks. Even the Return of Optimus Prime episode is mediocre at best, though it was about time they brought him back (it had to be inevitable after Ultra Magnus came back so quick. Angst-ridden Rodimus was the worst ).

Already have the 360. Most definitely going to have the PS3.

Well all I know is that its coming out for Windows Vista and the game itself will just make your computer blow; good thing Im getting one soon Anyways I dont look foward to this game at all, EA is being too confident and that can end up being something bad. And plus I think it doesnt look like the future as we will develop technology way better than that, thats just my .2 cents. 382812 I like BF2... but I'm kinda missing BF: Vietnam. I always laughed hearing the music playing as people drove / flew by, etc.

RT: Sentinels/New Generation CG short film
Uxi replied to B-52 GUNNER's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wow, that video of the scout looks really good. I could even stomach a retelling of the Sentinels if it looked like THAT. -
Seriously. My 34" CRT HDTV is over 200 pounds. My 60" SXRD is 113. Though it looms over everything else in the TV room, it's footprint is arguably the same, if not less (since the previous space above and immediately around was "wasted" anyway). The absolute best benefit of SXRD/LCOS over CRT... Zero burn-in concerns. Game with abandon. I lusted over the 70" Qualia 006 (which used an older generation of SXRD chip and lacked the advanced IRIS of the new XBR SXRD's), but $13k was just a bit out of my league for a TV. There's rumors of a 70" XBR2 this year... but the biggest rumor was the 80". I can't wait to have a PS3 with Blu-Ray next to my 360. I actually prefer to watch a 1080i broadcast over Charter HD than most of my DVD's, so HD play back is highly desired and PS3 should tide me over until the format war is over (I'm avoiding a commit at this stage, but so far it looks to me like Blu-Ray should win).

I'd put my SXRD (Sony's LCOS) against any CRT out there. I was hardcore CRT for years and swore I'd never go rear projection... Plasma might be vivid and have a small footprint, but the power consumption, crushed blacks were complemented by loud fans and enormous power consumption to go with the high price. SED? Delayed yet again. I really wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be vaporware...

IIRC no studio has announced they'll use the ICT to downgrade on analog connections. Yet. I really don't expect to see any of this for at least a few years. And by then it will be cracked and as prevalent as Macrovision. Can't wait to have a silver PS3 next to my X360 on my home entertainment stand under my 60" SXRD. Good times coming! Hopefully there will be some 360 games that are MUST have by then.

There are two main types. There is an HDMI-DVI cable with one end each and then there is a small adapter you plug the HDMI into that then plugs into the DVI port.

Stands with a Fist is retarded. If she knew Baltar was a traitor, she should have used it in the election. How could she not? I certainly can't see the old man turning the other cheek, especially after the nuke explosion. I found it most preposterous that anyone would rather live in the shanty town rather than one of the Battlestars. Especially from the military crews. Starbuckette looks nasty with long hair, too. Fighter Jock to trailor trash. This nasty rag tag dregs of humanity almost deserves Cylon oppression...

Oh yeah... as far as the 360 controller versus the DualShock2... I like the 360's setup with the RB/LB better. Essentially it's not that far off... just that the triggers are longer forms of L1/L2 and that definitely helps for the ergonomics. YMMV. Wireless is what I like the most. All that said, I am still looking forward to the PS3.

I like the 360's controllers. The vibration was nice too, since I wasn't expecting it (for some reason thinking it was only in the wired controllers until it vibrated on me when I was playing KOTOR again). I saw the references to Full Auto. That was my second 360 game and I like it. It's good mindless fun driving fast and shooting up everything I don't crash into. And it looks great on my 60" HDTV. Just got Gun tonight. Not a bad game at all (and I do like the quick draw feature), but I think I might be a little let down... I'll stick to BF2 on the Computer, thank you. I want KOTOR3!

Too quick. Invest in that play and charge dealie. 377054 Done and done. Got it charging right now.

Don't forget to hire good QC people.

Finally found the premium 360 at retail with no markups/bundles/signup required so went and took the plunge. Looks fabulous on my 60" SXRD. I'll be waiting for some truly worthy games that stretch the envelope, but so far, so good. I'll most likely get the PS3 as well, but so far so good. Anyone know how quick the wireless controllers eat through batteries?
