  1. Machiavellian? Mach·i·a·vel·li·an Audio Help /ˌmækiəˈvɛliən/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[mak-ee-uh-vel-ee-uhn] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –adjective 1. of, like, or befitting Machiavelli. 2. being or acting in accordance with the principles of government analyzed in Machiavelli's The Prince, in which political expediency is placed above morality and the use of craft and deceit to maintain the authority and carry out the policies of a ruler is described. 3. characterized by subtle or unscrupulous cunning, deception, expediency, or dishonesty: He resorted to Machiavellian tactics in order to get ahead. –noun 4. a follower of the principles analyzed or described in The Prince, esp. with reference to techniques of political manipulation. Also, Mach·i·a·vel·i·an If you're gonna' use the word.........at least know what it means. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh. Dee dee deeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
  2. So the more often a fact is repeated the less true it is? Please. BOY.
  3. It is a stagnant universe because the people entrusted with its care are idiots. Believe me, if I were running HG it would not be stagnant for a lack of effort (based in good sense). The people who run HG suck. They've sucked for decades. That's not new. But as stated by other posters, the very story changes required to connect three unrelated series made RT an incredibly deep, complex, and involved story. The problem is the people who run it now don't realize what they have. They squandered RT's popularity long ago. This movie is probably going to suck. If it doesn't I'd be *SHOCKED*.
  4. Lobotomized? I think not. ROBOTECH has far more depth and a much greater story arc than Macross. At least Macross Zero is an attempt to add depth to the original, but even then, ROBOTECH is still more complex and involved, IMHO. ROBOTECH is a great example of accidental genius. Shadow Chronicles and the current ROBOTECH "leadership" prove the prior point. ROBOTECH turned out to be really awesome by pure chance. All attempts to continue that magical formula have failed horribly. I am certain this movie will be the case as well. A shame.
  5. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just hope they consult me as a dialogue editor. They cheesed the hell out of "Shadow Chronicles." Grrrr.
  6. ROBOTECH is still totally awesome. The scope of the story beats anything Macross has managed even if it was purely an accident. That said... The sheer mangnitude of the ROBOTECH story GUARANTEES anything short of a live-action mini-series will blow. You cannot compress 85 episodes (heck you can't even compress 36) into any decent 2-hour or 3-hour movie. Just can't be done. They're going to shred this thing and when it comes out the other side it will be unrecognizable. Let us not forget that Hollywood also doesn't know diddly squat about aviation and barely much more about the military so you can expect the usual "Roger, Wilco, Over and Out!" dialogue nonsense... Ugh. OH well...
  7. Mine stay out of the sun as well. Point is, I love the finish but not the yellowing. Keep your eye on it. I'd wager a six-pack it yellows on you. (I hope I'm wrong.)
  8. And it causes problems for many as well, therefore, I will continue to sound the alarm. Frankly, I wish someone had warned me years and years ago because short of redoing your model there's nothing that can be done to fix it when it turns yellow. If you don't like it tough. A word to the wise: thin it out before you use it and use a light LIGHT coating even with that (and if it is in the can shake it for as long as you can stand it before you spray). Someday I may try that 50/50 dillution method if Mr. Hobby proves to do the same thing. Apparently thre is a different formulation for Europe than the Americas. That can also be an issue. I've also heard of airbrushers mixing in a few drops of blue to help prevent yellowing. Another idea to keep in mind.
  9. Best of luck regardless. I will say the thinner the coat the better. That seems to be the theme.
  10. Well, duh. I already acknowledged that could be the case. HOWEVER, considering I've tried every conceivable method for use with a rattle can (refrigeration, heating in a pot of water, spraying on cold days, hot days, high humidity, low, thick, thin) and seen it yellow over and over again I'm convinced it is crap. Many will concur. I like the airbrush idea diluted 50/50 but I'm not an airbrusher so that's out for me. Hopefully Mr. Hobby will work... It's obvious *YOU* don't know how to read. There is no crusade here. Simply an attempt to save a friend (and anyone else who cares to listen and perhaps *RESEARCH* ) a little grief and a LOT of expense. Hey, if you get fubared when DULLCOTE bites you in the ass just remember you heard it here beforehand. I, too, hope it works out for anyone who uses it. I have no faith in the product and will never use it again.
  11. I'm trying to find some good USN Carrier Deck cardstock for use in a diorama. The only one that even comes close is Custom Dioramics USA's 1/48. However, I cannot determine what exactly this consists of. I would prefer to buy an entire flight deck worth of cardstock so that my models don't all look like they are sitting on the same deck spot. http://www.squadron.com has a picture of the Custom Dioramics USA product but not much additional detail.
  12. Why take the chance when there are other products out there that do NOT have ANY reputation for yellowing? Frankly, there are enough people out there who have had TESTORS Dullcote yellow that I would avoid it even if I didn't have firsthand experience with the phenomenon. At the least I would not use it out of the can...
  13. He isn't lying. That would be too harsh a word even if the parts were somewhat yellow. I would wager that if he were to hold the parts up to something that was as white as when he started the model he would see a difference though. That said, someone noted that different formulations or mixes could be the culprit. Likewise using thinner coats might be the key. YMMV. There is a *TON* of info on the Internet about yellowing caused by the Testors product. I am simply confirming this to be true in my experience. I have only been using Mr. Hobby (Gunz-Sanyo) for a year or so... I won't know if it yellows until much later, but it is easily available at your local hobby specialist or online.
  14. That may be the key. In the 24 years I *DID* use it, I took it right out of the can. It yellowed without exception. Most of my models have white in them, be it paint or markings, and they all yellowed. The older planes and those with heavier coats have the most yellowing. I actually wound up stripping decals off of many planes and redoing them because a Balkankruz looks pretty stupid when it is black and yellow instead of black and white...
  15. I think all Dulls probably yellow some with age, however, Testors' product absolutely does. So if anyone uses Testors they're asking for trouble was my point.
  16. Sometimes I hate the Internet. LOL
  17. No problem. Thought you were getting chippy and I couldn't figure out what happened. Now that I re-read your comment I realize I read it 180 degrees out of phase. SORRY!
  18. And the point of your little quip was what again? There are PLENTY of articles on the internet about the yellowing properties of the Testors product. Anyone who doubts me should do some research before the potential ruination of a very expensive Valkyrie is undertaken.
  19. Use it at your peril. I've switched to Mr. Hobby.
  20. Re-read the quote, my friend. He wasn't saying you didn't have to worry, he was querrying. I'm firmly convinced Testors Dullcote yellows. I refuse to use it.
  21. Yes, because it also yellows anything that is gray. I have lots of models that I never coated as a kid. Place them next to models with similar colors and you can tell which ones had Testors Dullcote and which ones did not. I'm told Mr. Hobby doesn't yellow, but I have a feeling all dull coat clears do. In the sunlight or out. Doesn't matter. I grew up in South Texas and all of my models were kept out of sunlight. I had pretty dark curtains so it wasn't UV for my money. When you use the stuff use as little as possible, also. Heavier coats yellow more.
  22. Testors Dullcote?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It turns everything white to YELLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *runs around screaming and weaving with hands over his ears* AHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WUH!! WUH! WAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *slobbers* *passes out* *wakes up* AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *hits tree* *dies*
  23. Thanks guys. I guess I'm not COMPLETELY back but I'm at least not completely out of contact. Whew...
  24. I just wanted to say I'm sorry for being unreachable. Was about to get a divorce there for a bit. Moved out of the wife's place and got my own apartment... It was ugly. Things have settled down some now and hopefully I'll be back at it. I know I have some parts to send out to some of you guys. If you still need them drop me a line and I will get on it... They were all locked up at her place and I couldn't get to most of my stuff until recently. I guess that's all. CHEERS!
  25. Machine Gray is light. Rustoleum.
