  1. Looks decent to me. Maybe it's a hollow point. LOL

    1/55's revisited

With a little tweaking the 1/55 can be pretty danged elegant. My two favorite things to do to them are to file down the swing bars and put in swivel thighs. It makes a WORLD of difference. I am also puttying up all the screw holes. These things are still my favorites.

    Joons 1/55 Valks

Wow that's pretty creative. Looks like a Robotech Alpha Fighter.

    Joons 1/55 Valks

OUCH! That thing came from the factory like that?

    Joons 1/55 Valks

I can't imagine they'd be worth much given their relatively poor quality in relation to, and considering the availability of, the 1/55 Bandai reissues.
  6. LOL! I actually have one Valkyrie that is 3/4 Jetfire 1/4 bootleg. The entire tail fin backpack assembly and rear upper fuselage (along with all the parts that hold it together) came from a bootleg. YOu cannot tell it by looking at the thing but it was a MAJOR basketcase when I got it. I won't harm a bone white Jetfire, but if he is yellow he goes to the grinder and emerges as art.
  7. Don't buy Roy! He'll turn yellow and his skull is on crooked!!!!!!!
  8. I work *exclusively* with Jetfires. First reason being they are all but unrestorable when they are yellow like a banana.... Second reason they are cheap... Third, I like the shorter noses. When tapered they look so much better than the mosquito nose of the Valkyrie... And last but not least, every one of them I take off the market makes the one I have MIB that much more valuable!
  9. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=17887 One simple joint and look at the effect of it. WOW. The leg to your left is the one that the right one now looks like. I ditched the Bandai-style black all around for the Yamato backside black only.
  10. I eagerly await the results in a Bandai Valk.
  11. Don't waste your time on any all-white Valk. It will be yellow in no time. At least low-vis and Mac TV "J" have paint protection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. If you are going to display it then be aware of yellowing on any white parts exposed to UV. This rules out the Roy and Hikaru versions of all types. Best choices: #1 Max Super "J" #2 Low-Vis "A"
  13. Am I the only one who thinks those things are all hideous? If the STEALTH Valk was all-black then I'd be interested...but that just looks....weird. Hope everyone who wants one can afford it. I'll pass though.
  14. That looks so much better than the 1/55 "A" head. Is anyone doing recasts of 1/48 heads?
  15. YES YES YES! I remember now. The problem is finding a 1/48 head someone will donate. Hmmmmmmmmmm..........
  16. I'd be interested in some pics of the 1/48 head on the 1/55. I think the 1/55 "A" head is much too large for the Valk and oddly shaped to boot.
  17. I am sure this has been asked before but has anyone used a 1/60 "A" head on a Bandai 1/55 custom?

    Custom 1/55

Yep. Just waiting for Devin to get around to it. I know he is swamped right now with work and other things. I have decals on as far as able until his arrive. Hope to have them completed in two weeks or so with photos to show for it.

    Custom 1/55

Hey I'm still perfecting my 1/55 techniques... Give me some time. I have some very nice ones in the works. I am incorporating all the mods I have managed to use into one toy finally... Should look great when done. In the meantime... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=17887 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=17504 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=17538 And the gallery in my sig. I think the 1/55 has the finest GERWALK mode of anything out there. Since that is my favorite mode I will probably always do 1/55 customs. Waiting for some decals to finish the blue and blue/green Valks then the next project begins in earnest. I'm loving it. The "A" stance on a 1/55 makes it look kickass!
  21. Thanks bud! I am learning as I go. I think I am improving with each one slightly.
  22. I was considering doing away with the BLACK parts on the thighs to make them look more Yammie-like. Is there any decent line art out there that shows how these things *should* look? IIRC the Yammie only has black "behind the knee" not on the knee cap. I think the knee to the viewer's left looks more YAMMIE like than that to the right.
  23. One more then to bed....
  24. This is a slightly modified version of the "A" stance. A word of caution: Do not make the high cut on the front of the thigh make it on the *BACK*. I didn't think it through and did it the other way around with disastrous results. I managed to salvage it by flipping the thighs from side to side and resanding them. Haven't painted them yet but... The effect is startling.
  25. Thanks, boss! :) I will have newer and better pics of it for you in about a month (when it is completed). I am going back and installing A-Stance Thighs for it and custom decals. It will ROCK. It looked awful in the gallery (since it was still under construction)...tails on backwards, feet not finished...tinted canopy...blech. Gotta' protect my rep.
