My thoughts too. When I saw it I thought oh special products devision variant. There is as much detail in the diorama as the AT-ST. Top work.

Thinking bout the scale of this if printed at 100% its about 1/72 scale X 3 its around 1/20 this got me thinking at that scale lights and extra details and gimmicks are a real possibility. Frankly with a big enough printer-bed or clever slicing up of the stl files to fit your printer you could build one the size of a toddler. That gets me thinking...............

Im sure that many here would love to see what you could do with other Macross mecha.

Yes admittedly I have had some issues with orientation. Sometimes a print will go fine then the next time I print the same thing with the same filament it goes wrong. I put it down to room temp, but for me it often highlights my orientation was not optimal in the first place. I have some really fine nozzles that help with the after work required but substantially increase print time. You cant win at that no matter how dialled the printer is. Recently Every-time I get things dialled, something changes and I need to fine tune again. My placing of the printer doesn't help as its near a door so is likely affected by temp. My work shop is not complete so I live with the issues for now, untill it gets its new location and I can control the environment its in.

Very nice. As soon as 3D printers became a thing, I knew I would need one and at some point would be using it to make Macross stuff. Now I have one, it has so many uses. Why spend hours making a little bit of plastic to repair some item when you can print one it in 10 mins. scratch building takes on a whole new level of I can make that, vs the before of I would love to make that but cant.

I wrongly thought that he’d lost the pilot figure. Since I missed this Moscato offering, I didn't know about the incentive. In tat case recasting would be not such a crime but if its to “complete” a kit then no recasting is not appropriate. That said I’m still sad I did miss this, I did really want this one.

Just going through my Steam collection and remembered I bought the remastered versions a while back, then saw that this was available and google pointed the no.1 search to here. Looks like I might be doing a bit of Macross game play later.................................. Except Steam wont let me install the mod, it just says I need to subscribe to download. did that !! now wheres my Macross fix darn you.. Added another mod and ... there it is all installed and waiting PC / Steam oddness

This build is going to be sooo good. Anyone out there that has the pilot casting that can make a recast to make this build complete ? Makes me sad that i missed out on this order.

Just interested, where did you get the stl for the fan racer, and what scale is it supposed to be. All the ones 8 found are quite low rez and too small for my liking.

Yes the two model shops near me are only interested in trains or tanks. Next nearest is an RC shop that sells models as thats what they did since the 80’s. Sad to think that back in the late 90’s I was sponsored by a model shop ( for RC car racing) and often worked there to cover and get more kit to race with. I never abused the suppliers to get any iconic kits, just bought if it was on the shelves. I did try and get the UK Hasegawa suppliers to get me some Macross kits but was declined several times. My friend actually worked at another shop, sadly now gone, and cleared a load of old imai kits when they switched suppliers...... should.... coulda.....

3d print them. I have several packs of the Wave joints bought the last time I was in Tokyo. But so as to not “waste” them have printed some at various sizes. Seems to work well, not up to constant toy play standards but for display and occasional moving, more than up to the job.

Back in 1985 they had these in my local toy/model shop. Never did get the money to buy em then someone came in and bought everything in one go..........

I have done work for others precisely twice. First time the paint was to spec and I even gave them a choice of finishes with examples.job accepted and paid for... cue phone call a few days later saying the paint came off. I wasn’t told the wanted to keep it in the bathroom.... WTF. Second time it was a freebie exchanged for some other work. It got put in a cupboard and was seen on eBay a little while later, it didn’t sell then was left behind when they moved house. I might not be the best but I’m far from the worst, so commissioned work is a pass for me too. Unless it’s 3D printings where you finish your own work off.

Do Revell ever make a kit thats good. I feel that everything they make is hodge podge of some one elses cast off kit.

I have rolls of the LEDs most sell as 12v but you can get 5v ones for shorter runs that you can power from a phone charger. For the 12v ones I use 12v lighting power blocks bought online. They are often cheaper than the LEDs. You can buy them on Banggood or Alibaba.
