Not sure if this is the right place for this post. Mods please move it if it isnt. Well Ive always liked the Japanese modeling publications. Nice pictures and articles etc. But the main problem is you cant get them outside Japan easily. there tends to be a lot of them on eBay going for a lot of cash. but surely there is a better way of getting them. How do you guys get your copies ??? I am going to Japan later this month (17th) so I will of cause pick up the latest issues in person. I was thinking of trying to bribe a friend of mine who lives there to send me them each month. If there is a better way then please post. Also may be we should have a pinned post that can tell us when its worth buying for Macross content. I know there are users who get it regularly.

That's always been my feeling as well. 386026 I got one Umd movie for mine ( Sony sent it to me as a promo) nice idea shame that the price is steep. Just buy a 1 gig memory stick and use the correct software to rip your DVD to a file and transfer to the memory stick. How hard is that. Basically they killed there own format. A friend of mine uses his on the train to work everyday. He never actually watches t.v he just records it to his memory stick and bungs it in the PSP and watches it on the way to work. The shops in my town that sell them are putting them out for really low prices now. I think they are trying to get them got rid of.

MWCON EUROPE This has been discussed by serveral Europe based MW members in another subject on MW. It was felt that it should be moved to the proper place. We have played with the idea of having a Europe Convention, along the similar lines to the original one only for any one based in Europe who cant get to the one in the U.S. There are a lot of members who live or are stationed in the U.K and parts of Europe who might be interested in this. Please could you post here if your interested and also your ideas.

Wow nice pictures. gives you a real sence of scale. They certainly built it well. Its a real shame it will be dismantled. Much in the same way that Cammeron built the scale model /set of Titanic ( ducks as rotten eggs fly towards me ) it was also so built to nearly 1/1 scale and was also a very expensive set. I think it also got binned afterwards. I would love to see it when Im in Japan next month.

"Yeah, yeah, third left, then the second right, yeah, then just look for the house on the right that looks like the SDF-1..." 385684 Yup thats were I was thinking..... the one with two Destroids on the driveway.

I think you might want to check that out. Mute swans are arround twice the weight of Canada Geese. Mute swans when protecting their mates or young are really nasty. They will attack and kill other birds that get too close. Small children are also not a problem for them. I have seen one push a child into the pond near me and then carry on attacking it while the kids parents tried to rescue him. A friend of mine (hes a twitcher) has seen a Mute Swan push a fully grown German Shepard underwater because it got too near his mate while swimming in the local lakes. The Swans near me are o.k as long as you dont make any move towards the nest or the small babies. If you have some bread or grain they love you. The Swans and the Canada Geese have a mutual sort of understanding thing. The geese stay away from the side of the lake where the Swans nest then the Swans wont attack them. Canada Geese are mean too (as are all Geese) but due to the size of the Mute most kids at my school were taught at an early age to keep away from the swans when they visited our school pond. When the Canda Geese came to visit the only thing you had to worry about was your packedlunch and any crisps/potatochips you had. The Geese consider these as fair game. They would go into your pokets to get them. If you know your limits with both, they are great birds to go and see and feed bread to with the kids.

Yup Swans are not as nice as they look. ( i know first hand). The Queen does aparently own all of them so you are not allowed to kill them. They used to put people in the the Tower of London for it.

1/72 would make some of the things larger than your house.

Yes ther are plenty of shapes you can use, some of them are more usefullthan others but worth the buy I think.

Yup hes right there Just stripped the paint on a 1/55 that I bought prepainted. it wasnt a good job and I though it would take hours of sanding to get rid of the paint. But then I discovered MR Muscle Oven Cleaner. Easy put the ofending Valk parts in a Zip lock bag and spray oven cleaner into the bag and seal it for a few hours. Then grab your self a nail brush and run them under the tap and scrub off the paint. Good as new. Now Im just looking at what I can paint strip next.

It will be just a Battroid. I already have ideas for a Gerwalk equivalent, but thats a long way off yet. I have still got to do the changes to the arms and body yet. Its gonna take some time. Once the legs are done thats the main obsticle out of the way.

I think if we are to have a MW con Eu style we should post the idea in the forum next to the other MW Con posting. there are quite a few european Mw members and a great many U.S members currently in Europe working etc. I cant have it at my house but im sure someone has a big house or a friendly Pub landlord or something.

Well the object of my modding was to achive a more anime realistic 1/55. I was not bothered about it being able to transform so I got a bit more creative shall we say.... My reference point The Hasegawa 1/72 legs The 1/55 starting point HMMM!!!! First thing to do make the intake part more acurate. This took longer than I thought it would as I remodeled it twice. I have even moved the blister forward to be more acurate. I cut away the whole bottom part with my trusty Exacto saw. then I bonded on a peice of 2mm styrene cut to size and mounted a bal joint I got from HLJ. This will attach to the new thigh when I finish it. Next the hip joints. These have been located in the acurate position for the anime. I drilled holes into the middle of the blisters as where the articulations would be. once positioned I used 5 min epoxy on the inside of the nose to hold them in place along with two small screws. they are now rock solid. The next step was to add the ballsocket for the hip joints This was held in place and bonded in with 5 min epoxy again. it wont come out at all now. Once this was done i filled down the original leg inner ( the bit with the bar on) and then cut it to size. This would have taken ages if it was a metal one. Next time I will probably just make new ones out of 2mm styrene. Well thats it so far I have just made up some new styrene templates for the new thighs. I will post as soon as they are done.

I was just thinking that the other day. We do need a Europe MW Con. On the subject of destriods to place on it you could use the Kaiyoda destroids they are about 1/200 scale so would look ok. you can still get them at HLJ. That reminds me I better finnish my review before Graham gets board of waiting.

WOW !! Wxcellent work so far. I notice youre in England any chance I can come and see the maiden voyage ? Its great to see something scratch built thats not a plane or a peice of mecha.

Who Honestly Likes The Gerwalk Mode Of Their Vf's?
big F replied to Phalanx's topic in Movies and TV Series
The VF-17 Gerwalk. Looks odd but I still love it ( ugly duck complex). The VF-1 and VF-0 are the kings though. -
Valkyrie I like what im seeing of your build. Most of the ones I want are already posted as ideas. I`d love a good scale SDF1 eaither T.V or DYRL. Some of the various support vehicals would be nice too. I would love to see an armored VF0 and VF1 I know that Arii did one for the VF-1 but Its not as detailed as the Hasegawa stuff. I still love mine though. There just needs to be a VF0 one just for completeness, eaither in both cases a conversion kit for the Hase Battroid or a resin one will do. Completly offball, how about a scale of the crashhelmet or what ever you flyboys call them that the VF pilots wear. A smaller scale one or a life scale I dont care. maybe someone could do a kit that allows you to bash one using a motorbike helmet, obviously a certian model would have to be used I have for some time not understood the whole toy Vs model thing ( I do both ). My toys are just models to me (just not as well made or detailed ones). Im 33 years old I certainly do not run round the house going woooosh with my VF-1 Hikaru and Roy. They are art and should be displayed and looked at IMO. For some time now I have wanted a 1/72 Vf-17 fighter to go with my VF-17 Battroids I`d love to have a Gerwalk too as they would complement my VF1 collection, I have been buying up Wave 1/72 scale Vf-17 to help with this. In the summer as soon as I finish my current project I intend to do a half kitbash half scratch biuld to realise this dream.

Yes most of these products work on the principle of removing the grease from whatever it is thats encrusted on your oven. Once the grease and oils are removed I supose the crud is easier to get off. So in theory they should work well on most paints with oils in them. I agree you shouldnt handle this stuff with out gloves. It removes the grease from your skin. It can cause dryness and rashes and at worst could give you split skin and dermatitus. That said I am going to try some on some 1/55 parts I bought that were painted with some really tough paint. I have already tried thinners and nailpolish remover also I gave them a shot of Isopropol and the paint just shrugges it off. In fact the only method I have that works is sandpaper. I will of cause post and let you know how I got on.

Great tip thanks Mechaninac I will give it a go.

That was my thinking too.
