  1. Also, with space folding and relativistic effects of being near a giant black hole (if they survive), there is still possibility that we could see members of the original colonization fleets at ages not much older than when they left earth. That's what I hope, anyways.
  2. This pic shows pretty well how the shoulder pieces need to fit next to the notches in the swingbar. I haven't noticed any droopy arms in fighter mode either.
  3. Are they gonna paint the canopy frames black and the landing gear white? The clear plastic and bare diecast looks a bit toy-ish.
  4. There are 2 ratchet joints behind the intake - should be able to bend that leg much more!
  5. 1/60 top view >>> than the 1/72 top view. There is hope
  6. Sumdumgai's idea: I stole his idea and added:
  7. HA! I just had a Macrossnexus flashback of Sumdumgai's heatshield design. Hey what about liquid crystals in the canopy? Course, Yamato would not supply the battery.
  8. Looking good! I've always felt the Hasegawa micromissile boxes were way too big, especially for DYRL battroid poses. What are their physical dimensions? If you had some spare Yamato 1/60 missile boxes, those might work better and require less wing position shifting.
  9. All the zeros have this issue, because they used loose-fitting hexagonal friction pegs between the intakes and chest plate, rather than double-locking tabs on the VF-1. But if you gently place the fighter down after transformation, the broken back effect is not a big deal visually.
  10. Oops, I didn't realize that frontal shot had FPs on. My bad. My main point was that a sexy 1/60 or 1/48 VF-11B would seem much less of a task for Yamato to accomplish.
  11. I think there are about 3 or 4 board members who would agree with you (including me). I mean... this to me is not sexy, and I don't see how Yamato would get even close to anime lines.
  12. I busted out my Hikaru 1S from it's 6-month display pose and remembered just how sturdy and fun to transform 1/48s are, compared to more recent releases (VF-0...ugh). They are still the king of transforming TOYS, IMO.
  13. Agree that the worst were the pre-1st edition Max DYRL VF-1A valks. The best DYRL valks are the 1st edition Max -1A and the 2nd edition Roy -1S, which both have the design fixes and straight tailfin skulls. People seem to say that the Stealth VF-1J consistently has the least QC issues, and it also seems to have pretty tight fitting parts.

    VF-0S

I'm pretty sure that promo shot is of a current model VF-0S (non-locking ankles), so it's probably the same color. It would be kinda annoying (but not out of the realm of possibility) if the dorsal blister adapters were a different color than the 1st release biege 0S.
  15. If they were going to actually reissue this, I'd be all over a version with a more tan color like the TRU 1/60 (less fleshy), and a PROPER TV -1A head. Or how about Hikaru's training -1J cannon fodder ??
  16. Someone might want to try loosening the screws, and also replacing/adding to that dinky little piece of black rubber inside the shoulder so there is some friction to hold the damn arm up in gerwalk/battroid mode. That way, the friction won't cause stress on the weak part of the socket assembly. Of course, I would only do this if I could remove the arm from the ball after loosening the screws. Forcing the arm off might cause more cracks.
  17. That's great news, please give us an update after a few days of... er... playing. Sometimes I wonder if they had shipped all Zeros with arms disassembled for owners to carefully pop in and screw together, if we would have any issues at all, even with the ABS shoulders.
  18. So, pop those suckers on and transform the bastids a few times and let us know how they do!
  19. I'd forgotten about this - good idea. Aren't the extra canards for the YF-19 ABS for custom painting, becasue the fitted canards are POM?
  20. For you pyros - ABS melting point ~105 deg C POM melting point ~183 deg C
  21. A possible non-destructive test could be a scratch test - take the sharp edges of an ABS shoulder and a supposed POM shoulder, and scratch a piece of ABS (either a scratch piece or a busted Yamato). If POM is denser and harder than ABS, it will leave a bigger scratch. Another quasi-scientific non-destructive test might be to tap the shoulder piece with something and listen to the sound. Denser POM might sound different (maybe a "plink" vs. a "plank", or a "ka-ching$$" vs. a "ka-chumpforwastingyourmoneyonthispieceofcrap"). I'd get as many test subjects as possibel to weed out sample variation. Of course, burning the damn things would be easiest...

    VF-0S

Could it be that the Garland was marketed and officially sold in the US through HG, whereas Macross products are not? But yeah, it SHOULDN'T make a difference.
  24. I think he was unofficially "Skull 2" in the last episode, but you're right, there were no tail markings. Kinda weak, since all the CFs had bunnies or skulls on the tails. Of course, the gray hues of his 0A seemed to change from scene to scene, so who knows what's offcial.
