  1. Hey all I did was take 5 minutes to chop up a VF-11 and add a VF-1 undermount head to get Phalanx started. I'm going off the assumption that he thinks that VF-11 and VF-19 aesthetics are futuristic enough to match the timeline, for his tastes... just trying to get the guy drawing something rather than typing
  2. Is this what you had in mind? Touch it up to reflect your vision, and let's end this thread..
  3. I posted a trade ad a while ago to swap my red heatshield for a black. Didn't get a response, so I decided to try removing the red paint with Mr. Color thinner (as recommended by someone on this board) and the darn thing broke into 3 pieces . Wasn't even rubbing very long (< 5 min) or that hard. My plan was to try the thinner to remove most of the paint an then switch over to Brasso to remove the stuff touching the clear plastic - lesson learned, heatshield ruined.
  4. After myk gets his, I will also need a 1/48 heatshield - Roy's preferably. I will also consider buying off the remains of a parted out valk, as long as it has the heatshield.
  5. Exactly, I meant all the pics of the VF-0S that could have been taken have been already - except an overhead and bottom shot of the painted pre-production fighter . I won't expect to see a Shin 0A until the 0S is released - unless Yamato continues their non-stop onslought of new products, without first testing the market for M0 goodies.
  6. This wait for the late April/May release is killing me... and no new pics to satiate us
  7. Why this thread hasn't been locked is beyond me. I guess the mods are also keeping it alive out of "morbid curiosity"?
  8. Rich Kunter was a pimp-daddy who bagged all the bridge bunnies behind the barracks, while Hikaru played with his model airplanes
  9. Pics where? and its all not in english when I load it up.... 377317[/snapback] It's not in English, but I don't know why pics don't show up for you Anyhoo, here's another page with some LWF concepts, if anyone cares. It shows concepts submitted by Boeing, Lockheed, and Vought that I've never seen before: LWF background
  10. I've always liked the BGM for RT battle scenes a little better than the fret-tappin' 80s guitar cheese for the routine Macross battle scenes. I will say that after watching Love Drifts Away for the 6th or 7th time, I've grown to like the battle scene and music much better than what RT did with Force of Arms. The music is more polished, and Mari doesn't sing off-key like Reba. Of the series songs, Shao Pai Long and Sunset Beach are annoyingly catchy - both songs that I hated at first but now hum along to (only when watchin series). My fave Macross song is still Angel's Paint.

Fix those frackin' crooked skulls!!! (end rant)
  12. Hornet development - from F-5 to Superbug Most of you on this thread probably know about the origins of the Hornet, but I though this website was cool as it shows pics of all the various stages, including the Hornet 2000 Eurocanard concept which I haven't been able to find a pic of until now. Looks like they just moved the tailerons up near the cockpit (ugh). That F-20 tigershark is one badass mofo Just makes it more amazing that the Navy is trying to pass off an F-5 derivative (altough heavily modifed) as a repalcement for the F-14D.
  13. Wow, this thread is still going strong, eh? Ignoring the whole debate about "fitting" into the timeline aesthetically, I'll give me quick $0.02 on this. I see where you are going and can appreciate the subtle stealthy enhancement of angling the engine nacelles/legs. Just remember, not even the YF-19 and YF-21 had this feature, and had more or less "boxy" leg cross-sections, just for the sake of simplifying the knee and hip joints. I like the fins on the outside of the legs like you have. Let's see a top view . Hard to tell what you have in your head from this quick job.
  14. Looks at pics in this thread
  15. The problem is they look good in all modes, you'll keep transforming the damn thing because you'll not be able to pick 1 mode. Just plan on getting at least 7 to pose in these modes - naked (battroid, gerwalk, and fighter), super/strike pack (battroid, gerwalk, and fighter), and GBP battroid. But, if you must get 1, get a Roy 1S with strike pack, and then cut up your credit cards. I only have 2 (Hikaru and Max DYRL VF-1S) - I put them up high on a shelf so I'm not tempted to grab them and transform them every time I walk by.

The question is, what type of trees could survive the thin atmosphere and radiation of a planet that has such a weak gravity. Wait, didn't the VF-0 have some form of armor? I forgot if it was stationary or managed to hover.
  17. Yeah, faceted stealth is, like, sooooo Desert Storm.
  18. I'm all for another round of recast heads with improvements, but i don't see the appeal or realism of an LED eyepiece. Weren't the eyepieces just an enclosure for optical/FLIR sensors?? Besides, all my goshdarn pics of my 1/48s have the camera flash effect if i wanted to see valk eyes glowing
  19. Jeez, making this thread any longer isn't going to change people's opinions either way, or magically coerce SK into redesigning the VF-1 officially/unofficially. So, why don't we just respect each other's opinions and channel some of this energy into some fanworks??? Edit: then, we can have something concrete to either applaud or poop on
  20. I like the shoulders and LERXs (if you've ever seen a fighter mode pic) of that thing, but gotta agree that the original VF-1 is more appealing overall. You gotta admit that this thing looks more like a direct derivative of the VF-0 than the VF-1. How does that thing fit in with the macross continuum? Is it just a video game mutant?
  21. No harm in that, and I think that would be an interesting new thread in the Fan Works section
  22. If only a CG VF-1 was introduced in the last episode of M0 (either a Skull Leader or Shin Low-Vis). Fewer would say it is any less cool than the VF-0.
  23. Here you go - 1/48 1A head on a chunky.
  24. Just reading the Macross Compendium. According to the chronology, the VF-X-1 completed space-worthiness trials in mid-2007, which means reaction engines were tested and approved. The VF-1A was put into mass production by 12/2008. Question is - the Macross Zero events took place in Sept 2008, so why weren't there VF-1's avaialble to send into the conflict against the Anti-UN? The VF-0 was also essentially a prototype. Wouldnt' there have been at least a handful of VF-1 test mecha to send into combat?
  25. Also, the swing-wing fighter design is a relic of the 60s and 70s, which achieved it pinnacle of awsomeness with the F-14. The VF-1 pays tribute to the F-14, which I think a lot of us on this board (raises hand) appreciate. I don't think you could update the look of a swing wing plane any more than they did witht the VF-0. Some may argue that the VF-0 looks a bit goofy in fighter mode because of the update, but I think it looks pretty cool in its own way. Stealthy angles and blended body/glove/wings are hard to achieve and look right with swing wings.
