Try rotating the intake around the hip ball socket a bit until intake is parallel with the upper fuselage - sounds like you may need to rotate the intake piece clockwise a bit (looking from the front of the fighter), so that the notch snaps into place. This is just a guess, and a picture would be most helpful.

So that's how they got the arms in close - on the 1/48, the folded shoulder hinges don't rest flush.

That toy looks awsome right out of the box un-stickered - OK, the F-mode is now officially my favorite mode. Lookey, they even molded and painted the retracted inlet covers in fighter mode

I'm ok with the skinny arms. They look proportional, and I've always thought the VF-1 Popeye arms looked a bit too big for a aircraft-based mecha. Also, if the arms were made bigger, people would be complaining about the arms hanging too low in F mode. Dammnitall, I wish mine would just friggin' arrive so I can stop visiting this thread for new pics.

Agree, I've always liked the Zero in B mode, almost more than the VF-1... it was the F mode that took some time to grow on me. The G mode, well, jury is still out on that.

Did Yamato use a different ABS for this thing, or are the pieces just thinner now? All this "soft" and "flexible" talk is scaring me. I'm still scared to this day every time I have to snap the shoulders into G or B mode on my 1/48s. Now we have to use even MORE force to do the same on the VF-0?

I've never seen a $160 fridge magnet before ...maybe an idea to consider for a banpresto space diorama , if you have a black fridge?????

Yes, that shot is deceptive, but it's been known for a long time (thanks to Graham) that the 1/60 VF-0 is shorter in battroid and longer in fighter, compared to the 1/48 VF-1. If the leg joints are reasonably tight, I don't see a reason to b1tch about flimsy legs. The leg thickness is already pushing being too fat compared to lineart... I'll deal with slight balance issues rather than adding paint-chipping metal. Hey, we could always add little lead weights inside the legs to add ballast ! (a trick used for model airplanes).

It comes with no display stand, but it comes with a gray adaptor for displaying fighter on a Yamato stand w/ gun pod: ..and a white adaptor for displaying gerwalk:

The box pics are of the pre-production ABS toy I think, not the resin prototype. It's just the lighting that makes the boxed toy look dark. So nobody knows what that extra white piece is?

Don't think chicken hands can be avoided if you want perfect transformation. Honestly, with the skinny arms the hands don't look as poultry-esque.

Agree, this has got to be the best conceived transforming jet toy I've seen. Some might not like the looks of the fighter (toy or lineart), but those pics show just how well everything fits together. Glad I broke down and pre-ordered before the deadline.

The only unique similarity I see between the VF-1 and an F-18 is how the canopy AND tailfins are positioned somewhat closer to the center of the plane, compared to most other fighters. The nose profile screams F-111. The rest is all Tomcat.

Just a warning, the bootleg blazer is the same mold as the fire, so the wings are incorrect. Not a huge deal except that the wing stickers that come with the bootleg blazer ARE shaped for a bandai blazer, so they won't quite fit. These toys are durable and look better in battroid mode than the Yamato YF/VF-19 IMO, but that's where their coolness ends. A good toy for customizing

Milia's VF looks pretty sick! . Should have grabbed one (there's always hope for a reissue). I think all-gray would be fine - maybe you can paint a solid circle where the kite decal goes, so the white stripe/red doesn't show through. The small gray decals won't matter as much.

Yes, check the toys section, there are existing shots of the VF-0 next to a 1/48 VF-1 in battroid. It's a bit shorter than the 1/48 in battroid, but will be a bit longer in fighter mode, accroding to Graham.

I agree, not a big fan of how the wings fit in battroid or gerwalk on the VF-0D. Also, the fighter mode to me looks a bit, well, slapped together at the last minute for the sake of having another fighter. (ducks)

Here's an aerospace nube question: How effective/viable is a variable geometry wing stealth design? I remember this naval F-22 concept and always wondered how the stealth would be affected if the wings swept during flight. If you look at the VF-0 it looks like wing shape was intended to break up its radar signature, but this naval F-22 concept has straight wings. You figure as long as the wings were kept at an optimal angle during cruise, the wings wouldn't need to be shaped like the VF-0's to be stealthy.
