  1. Went home for the holiday and was digging through my old toys. I thought I got rid of this guy ages ago in a garage sale or something. His visor and thumbs are long gone, but I was super excited to see one of my very first Macross toys again (he even sort of fits in with the HMRs)!
  2. This might have been true prior to the announcement of the KO's. Now we do actually have a choice... how valid of a choice we don't really know yet (since we've yet to see the actual quality of the KOs).
  3. Ah, ok. I'm not that worried, as that would be a guaranteed buy for me, if it is the 1/35 scale. I wouldn't collect in that size (if they did more than one), because that is simply too huge, but I'd definitely get one. I'll probably pass on the Arcadia M&M anyway, unless the preorder price is within $50-60 of what HMR Milia is going for now.
  4. Is this a confirmed thing? Is this like the 1/35 scale they showed off, or a DX style 1/60 scale vf-1?

I prefer the TV series more, overall, but there are somethings that DYRL does better. Roy's death in SDFM is... stupid. The DYRL death fits his character way more. There are a couple other things I like more about DYRL, but I think the TV series has a much more cohesive story (for obvious reasons).
  6. at everyone afraid of the Arcadia white/pink after the Hikaru vf-1j. I'm going to have to stop coming to this thread, or I'm going to break down and get a pair of these... those TV style armor super parts...
  7. It's pictures like this that are going to make me break down and buy the Arcadia M&M...
  8. Essh, really on the fence about this one. I only really wanted one set of M&M, and I've already got the HMR max, been scouting around for a decent-priced milia... But they are 1/60s and cool. But I'm running out of display space fast... and I still need to fit the HMR monster somewhere... I really don't know. I'm glad Arcadia is making them either way, but I might have to pass on these.
  9. I'm a pretty big Blizzard fan, so I decided to grab these up while they were on sale. Got these four for under $40 USD, shipped (kinda makes you feel bad for paying so much for Macross stuff, for just a second).
  10. Similar to Boobytrap, I've only been collecting for less than a year, and my collection is downright minuscule compared to a lot of the older members. I'd second that patience is key; don't jump at the first price you see something at, as it is probably overpriced. Do some research on each item before you buy, and see what they are really worth from different areas in the market, and when you find one that is at or a little below a fair market value, go for it. As always, beware of things that are too good to be true. I'd recommend setting a priority list of things you want, and a budget that you can stick to. Doing this, I've been able to get all the previous releases I really wanted, and am now focused on current/future releases. Last, definitely look at the For Sale forum on this site. Some of the best deals I've gotten have come from there, just make sure the seller has a good reputation (check the straight shooter thread). I've gotten several new or almost new items for well below what I've seen anywhere else from sellers here, and you won't have to pay middle-man fees.

Did those defender's guns look kind of warped in that video? I hope that is just a pre-production issue.

I honestly think the enemy mecha are the best part of the line (especially the Glaug) hopefully we'll get more soon. But if you're only interested in destroids, they look good, too.

Just pay 13,500 jpy for a repaint of a Max that you paid like 8,000 jpy for! Seems totally reasonable! And some people wonder why were are considering buying the bootleg M&Ms...
  14. If the KO's are of comparable quality, won't the real-world value of the official originals go down pretty significantly as well? I know some people will always want the real thing, but you gotta imagine that the demand for the real deal will go down quite a bit.
  15. This broke about a week ago in this thread. There is pretty good discussion on the pros and cons, and it seems like most people are wanting to wait and see (at least I am). For my part, I don't have a lot of love for Arcadia, but I have serious doubts about the level of quality on these knock-offs.
  16. I'm definitely in the boat for this. I believe the 1/3000 dyrl sdf-1 is one of the molds arcadia acquired from yamato. I think it is one of their most anticipated releases at this point. The problem is we're in a pretty serious echo chamber on these forums. Just us being here puts us pretty close to the "die-hard" category. How many "casual" collectors are going to put that kind of money out for something much less dynamic than a vf-1? I really don't know.

All those other enemy mecha... Bandai please deliver
  18. I meant it isn't Harmony Gold, specifically, that is stopping Macross merch from being sold internationally.
  19. My understanding is that Big West doesn't allow Macross to be sold outside of Japan, regardless of HG. I could be wrong on that, though. HG might have something to do with that policy existing, though.
  20. AE seems to have some right now: http://www.anime-export.com/product/35274

I've been eye-balling an HMR monster for a while, but in my experience with yahoo auctions (or any online auctions) is that price is going to shoot up a good 30-40% in the last few hours.
  22. I agree this is good news for consumers, but we might be getting ahead of ourselves here. Like others, I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Arcadia, in that I'm glad someone is still making 1/60 vf toys (that I didn't have the time/money to collect when yamato was around), but I'm a bit disappointed in the steep cost versus quality. For what I've paid (at or below MSRP) for my 3 Arcadia's, I think the quality of construction should be a bit higher and definitely more consistent. If a KO company can make a similar quality product for 1/3rd the cost, I think we definitely have grounds to be pissed at Arcadia (I understand they have a lot of other costs involved, and KOs will always be cheaper, but should it be 3x more expensive?). But I'm also skeptical of how good these KOs are really going to be. This is a design that has known durability issues, even when made by the official license holder, so there is definitely room for something to go wrong here, especially at almost 1/4th the cost. Looking at the advertisement again, the focker release seems to be missing a pilot and option parts (a minor oversight, but it makes me wonder what other parts of the mold they might be missing). Coupled with the limited run these guys seem to be doing, there isn't a whole lot of incentive for them to make a great product for repeat business. I'm really withholding judgement until some gets their hands on one and we get an idea of the quality. I don't think this spells the end for Arcadia if these things are going to break a month after getting them. But they could be great, we'll just have to see.
  23. Are you saying Arcadia might be getting out of the sdf macross/dyrl? line? But don't they have the Yamato sdf-1 mold? Arcadia please...
  24. At those prices, I don't see how the quality could match Arcadia, but I'd love to be wrong. I'd jump at an M&M pair for under $200. Hopefully someone will get the first releases and give us an idea of the quality.
  25. It took me about 5 minutes on the Chinese Taobao to find products using the exact pictures that the Arcadia warning uses. I'm not going to link them here, as I don't know how that kind of thing is looked upon here. The prices are ridiculously low (Like sub $10 USD), so there is no way I'd ever buy them (as it seems WAY to good to be true), but they are out there. Maybe a braver soul would try it, just to see what they actually get. I'd be nervous about even giving out payment info/address, but that is me. Most are marked as KO's, so they aren't even pretending to be the real deal. Edit: Those prices might just be for pre-orders, I'm not sure. I don't read chinese, so I'm going off of a bad google translation, which is a mess.
