  1. Normal releases are usually 1600 jst (4pm)

Tamashii web exclusives are normally 1900 jst (7pm) but some websites will start pre selling them earlier .

The start time will update soon.

Ah, I had the wrong jst but correct pst/est. thanks!

  2. Is it bad I'm considering buying two Millias just to have one to customize into a Max version since he's so freakin hard to buy normally? <_<

    Not a all ;)

What's bad is that you even need to consider it and the fact you can't preorder a figure you want 1 minute after it goes on sale.

  3. Thanks! Do these typically go up at the same midnight pst/ 3 am est/ 8 am Japan time as the normal releases?

Sorry to be a bubble buster but Max was already POed and sold out a while back.... only Milia is up for PO soon...

Thanks! I knew about Max but was wondering if it comes with the custom blue stand since this is the first time I've seen it in the picture with Milia and her custom stand.

  4. 9/16 on p-bandai. if you have a pbandai-account or something. full msrp+shipping-fees, if you do.

otherwise, you'll either go thru some middle-man or N-Y. not sure how much scalpermiddleman-fees they'll add to the msrp.

just hope that ae, hlj or cdj gets some of it.

I think the premium on the VF-1S TWE at NY was only about 600 yen. From what I understand, the TWE figures last longer on preorder because they base their run on the amount of orders they get? Is this correct? Either way, I'm new to ordering from p-bandai but I saw they have a banner for international orders on the bottom. When you click, some options for shops come up. Is this what I have to use to get the figure in the US through them or how does one get a p-bandai account? Is it as simple as signing up like I did for HLJ, AE, NY and all the typical Japanese shops?

Sorry for the newb questions but it is a lifelong dream for me to get these two figures together and I NEED to get this!

    Thanks for any help!

  5. omg omg omg, finally! Do they both come with those custom stands? The Max that already opened for preorder comes with that stand or is it yet another release? And when are Milia orders opening?

Edit: I see, in 2 days...

  6. Do you happen to have any Phicen bodies? I really like the seamless appearance of them but am wary of the 'skin' tearing or breaking down over time, especially if they are in more extreme poses. I'd like to hear more first hand knowledge before investing in upgrading any of my figure bodies.

Nope but mainly because I'm not really into figures that would need that type of body. No point in someone covered in armor to have a seamless body ya know? But they seem really good from the reviews I've seen and also priced more reasonably than I thought. These are obviously adult collector's items so I think as long as you are careful with them, they should hold up. You should check some reviews and see if there are any long term assessments on them. I'd be curious too in case I ever do need one.

Edit: Actually, I take the no point thing back because I just remembered one of the reviews I watched was someone replacing a Black Widow with a Phicen body and the thing that really impressed me was the way the suit looked over the seamless body and how you could really tell where the seams were on the original body.

  7. They sent an email this morning for payment by 9/26 so I just went ahead and paid for them. CDJ and NY are taken care of. Waiting for HLJ and Amiami. I need my squad of cannon fodders.

Oh man, you are a madman in a very good way! We really need to meet up sometime soon, lol.

  8. Printed plastic is far more flexible compared to acrylic. The acrylic would have very little give. The profile of the "hooks" were just free hand scribbles. Any suggestions on 1/6 blank bodies I should get? Particular brand? Male/Female?

Yep, you definitely want to go with something with more give in flexibility. As for blank bodies, Phicen seems to be the way to go, especially if you want seamless, really anatomically accurate figures. Here is a page with a lot of the options they have.

  9. That concept is flawed. You can get the VF-1S for dirt cheap when it becomes shelfwarmer, but the line will be dropped.

On the real side, I'm tired to see the Roy's and Hikaru's VF-1S keep popping up. Most people who collect these already have one at the minimum, so what they need are the 2-seater and other paint schemes. Yet if the heroic paint schemes won't sell, why even bother to bring out the less popular Valkyrie schemes?

With that in mind, I'd say that the line is way over its peak. The $250 price tag makes things even worse.

I remember paying $70~90 for a single Valkyrie and $130~$150 for the bundle with fast pack when the line was fresh.

That depends...these things are already low quantity, high profit pieces and Arcadia already has all their stock sold to the point there may be a reissue going to amiami, which may be an additional little run or amiami is just aquiring a batch of extra existing product. The retailers are most likely making a decent chunk of change, even at clearance prices. Bottom line is Arcadia is already sold out and it will be sold out at retail within a year or so and none of the sales will be anything like 50% off.

  10. Something like this? I may be able to do this in clear acrylic, as well.

That looks like it could work depending on how big the opening is. If the material is not flexible and hard like acrylic, it could really limit the usability so you should be very careful of the size you make it. Seems like a nice design though.
  11. That's the real trick isn't it? The sizes vary from front to back and side to side. Hot Toys/Sideshow currently accommodate it with a standard U shape from front to back but it expands side to side depending on how much it is inserted into the base. Most armored figures don't fit very well into the cradle and rely on the friction from the side to side expansion to hold them in place.

I'm not the most imaginative when it comes to solutioning this type of thing but the shape that would probably have the most number of uses would be like below from the side...

    ___

    \ / |

    \ cradle / |

    \_____./__O|

The 'O' would be where you attach the stand.

I have really wanted something that could fit under the arms that would allow the legs more freedom for better poses and even allow the figure to be in mid air but I'm pretty sure that the thickness of the acrylic wouldn't work for that.

It's possible to maybe just use a similar design to what I posted using hard wire that you can bend to your liking and have that attached to the Yeti arms. If you want to go real high end, a couple arms like this that are sturdy but flexible attached to the Yeti arm would probably work:

    custom-flexible-gooseneck-hose-arms.jpg

Whatever the thinnest size those arms come in would do.

  12. What would make a good "crotch stand"?

Something similar to what the HT figures come with...basically a hook shape. I'm not sure but this design looks like you can split it to hold either the crotch or under the armpits:

    1-6-Action-Figure-Body-Muscular-Stand-Fo

Seems good as long as the wires don't slide down. Something similar or even an acrylic or 3D printed hook, maybe with a clear rubber traction pad on it would be pretty awesome because it would be sturdy and have more friction than smooth wires, allowing you more angled pose options without worrying about the figure sliding or tipping as much from gravity. And obviously you only need the hook part with an attachment to configure it on your Yeti arms.

  13. Another Hot Toys collector :good: . I'd be pretty ecstatic to get a yeti stand for these figures. A clear adjustable crotch stand would really make my day.

I know huh! Get on it Yeti! ;)

  14. It appears there will be an October-reissue of the Strike Pink Purple Roy, per Ami:

    http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?scode=FIGURE-018953-S001

So if you somehow missed out on the previous preorder and you have around US$250 or so just burning a hole in your wallet, the October-reissue preorder is up and available at ami.

Not sure if any of the other shops are offering the preorder, tho.

I noticed that today too as I was contemplating getting another one. I also noticed HLJ and NY still have them in stock and don't mention any other preorder so I wonder if this is just ami restocking?

  15. Same here, I have been loving the Sentinal Re:Edit armors for alot of reasons but a big one is that they are based on the comic armors. I was so excited that they did a Hulkbuster. I can honestly say I not be wanting another Hulkbuster, ever. I hope they kept doing more armors from the comics like superior Iron Man suit.

Yeah, Hulkbuster is amazing and I'm glad I never wasted time and money on another one since the Toy Biz version. As good as it is, I would have passed on it if it wasn't comic style. The War Machine one is nice too:

    Marvel_DSC04137_zps3iyzo3b7.jpg

They are all nice but I just don't have as much interest in the other ones out right now. If they make some classic armors like the Neo-Proto, those will be bought instantly!

The only other hope we had was Revoltech with their new comic line but it seems like it's been shut down and will die as fast as it showed up. At least I'll get Deadpool and see how their Spidey ends up.

  16. Nice Marvel figures and Transformers.

This is cool. I'm sticking to Marvel Legends though.

    These are all great too.

    Thanks!

MLs are cheap (although I think still overpriced for what they are unless bought on sale) and do the job for a lot of characters but I wish more companies that put better effort into their figures could make comic versions. I'm not into movie style myself so I'm not into the Marvel SHF stuff but the Sentinal Re:Edit armors are incredible figures and I'm looking into a few more key characters from Mezco.

  17. Thank you for your kind words! Pics of the 1/6 figure you intended to use?

No problem! Thank you for the excellent service and product.

The figure I wanted to use the 1/6 adapter for is the Hot Toys Boba Fett I posted above. There is no place to clamp it without feeling like I'm going to damage it. There is some red string-like cloth right below his belt and that was the best spot to secure the figure but it seemed like the thread was going to fall apart or get damaged/deformed if I was to clamp around it. Clamping higher meant possibly crushing/damaging the armor. I messed with it for a while and just didn't feel comfortable with either clamp option so I gave up and used the figure's included crotch stand. I guess that leads to the suggestion of making a 1/6 crotch adapter for your stands!

  18. I like the idea of missile effect parts. That was one of the most interesting suggestions I've heard in a while.

Thanks! I was looking at some other Tamashii effects and the thought just occurred. Seems to make sense and be right in line with what they do. Hope it becomes a reality.

Seriously, I'd love to have a nice simple Gnerl to pose with my valks in fighter mode. I know, I know, you can pose battlepods in flight, but it's not the same. :p

Those would be nice to have too!

  19. Setup my detolf:

    Macross_DSC04226_zpszemduigs.jpg

Will be very temporary as I just got my 1/60 VF-1S and the Armored 1J will be joining it on another display. My impressions are that these are the finest stands I've ever used. So well thought out and simple to use and customize. I'm a bit disappointed I won't be using the top section of the detolf mount because I realized the 1/6 clamp is not good for the figure I bought it for (will probably damage it after extended use). I'm sure I'll find use for those parts someday somewhere else.

Here's what's above the Macross shelf to show how the setup ended up:
