Being a latecomer in Macross Delta scene, I am currently eyeballing on 31C Mirage. I understand there's hefty premium due to demand, scarcity, etc along with J Kai and S.

Just wondering for those who have one, are you happy with it and what do you like about it the most?

 

I have them all and the Mirage 31C is my favorite because it looks the best overall to me, especially the head. 

I use led strips and always try to put more than one in dynamic poses. It helps to have the right stands and especially if Yeti was still around to do the detolf shelf stands. This is just a temporary setup. 

If anyone else is willing to sell me Japanese toys for so low, it puts them out of business, I’d be happy to shop with you!

official black series one, coming out in may. there's also the Legacy version which is quite good but is a Disney park exclusive so you're going to pay a markup to get it unless you can physically go to Disneyland/Disneyworld. also the blade is sold separately on those.

Thanks! I know about these and was asking about the 3P or KO versions. I have the Black Series Darksaber and some others and don’t think I want to pay that premium for what you get anymore.

I once had to take a (different) lightsaber through airport security. The TSA guy picked up the handle, looked at it for a few seconds, then said "I'm not sure I can let you on the plane with this. You might take someone's arm off."

There are all kinda of real guns designed like that. People are just more articulated than most toys. Also, a Mech shouldn’t have any need to hold a gun in any conventional manner as long as it has a means to point and shoot. 

I read somewhere recently that KC has their own factories now. If any truth to that, it might give them more flexibility to do whatever kinds of runs they want.

Agree with all this but also worth noting the US Dollar is currently around the strongest it has been in at least the last five years vs. the Japanese Yen.

I've already got a 1A and 1S + missile set and now technically a 1D.  I like the idea of getting the 1J that I missed out on initially and the GBP set can obviously be swapped around to other the valks if I want to display the 1J transformed.  The price is also a bit more fair when you consider you're getting the valk+armour (seems like less markup).  Alternatively, the Roy is also appealing because it's the TV version (I grew up with Robotech), has the nicer display stand, Roy pilot/TV cockpit, and I'd probably grab the TV strike parts with it as well ... but I also already have the 1S which is extremely similar.

I'm also kicking myself that I didn't grab the movie strike parts when I had the chance.  I would love to get them for the 1S but can't justify spending over half the cost of a valk on them ($300cad+).  Maybe they'll be re-released at some point.  Typing it out, I'm sort of leaning towards the 1J+GBP set.  

Since we're sort of in holding mode for the next preorder madness, let me ask another question:

If you didn't already have a 1J or Roy, out of the two choices, which would you choose and why (e.g. personal preference, collectability/future availability, etc)?

Personally, I don’t even care about Hikaru’s 1J and the Roy 1S is my favorite stand-alone Valk but the GBP is always an iconic piece itself. The only true answer is to get both now before it’s too late and you have to pay more. 

If I had nothing and just wanted one Valk to represent Macross, I’d get the Roy 1S. If I had a few Valks except those two, I might opt for the 1J/GBP set. Good thing is, I have them all and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Good luck deciding!

Yeah, my packages were always good from them and I saved thousands of dollars over the years because of their low prices. Too bad they had to go down the drain. Hopefully we’ll get more domestic shops carrying Macross in the near future.

 NY ain't got nothing on those Meghan/Patricia CS videos! But I gotta say, my last shipment from NY was packed nicely with that blue bubble wrap sealed tightly all around with custom made box to fit perfectly!
