I cannot read, but does it say anything about a rerelease of the VF-1J? it looks great, but if no rerelease, it would suck for those of us without one already, or $400+ to track one down.

I can’t read or translate, but armor appears to be 13,200 yen https://hobby.dengeki.com/news/1225459/

The funny thing is on Amazon Prime, because I just checked, is that Macross II The Movie is available to rent, but the collection of OVA episodes is not, but listing for Macross Plus also have showed up with “video unavailable”, this has shown up recently, as I checked when the story of Big West and Harmony G working together broke, and it wasn’t even listed, as far as I could tell. Maybe it is a holding pattern awaiting some announcement.

For some reason, they don’t appear to be available to stream on Amazon, neither is Robotech. Don’t know if it was a temp glitch or something new.

Will the next Macross be the last Macross?
twich replied to Roy Focker's topic in Movies and TV Series
I seem to recall in Delta that Messer and Mirage both were a part of the N.U.N. Space before they joined Xaos. Even if the age of adulthood has become below 18 in Macross, you don’t do pilot training over a weekend, it takes years, then deployment to a unit for a certain span of time(months or years), then retirement, recruitment by Xaos, training for the new mecha (VF-31), then training and practice for formation flying/air show performing. It does not seem to add up for the specified age of these characters, unless you introduce some sort of mystical aspect, such a DNA/instinctual ability to pilot mechs, aka Newtype from Gundam. twich -
Honest question. How likely/has anyone heard any rumors of a re-release of the DX VF-1J Hikaru? I would either want this without it being $400+ plus shipping or an Arcadia 1/60 VF-1J Hikaru Premium Finish and don’t know which would be more likely AND cheaper. thank you Twich

Honest question, was it that awful? It’s $10 USD on switch store. Should I save my money? Never played it, but graphics looked passible. Twich -

I too would enjoy Macross 30, the ps vita Macross delta game along with the trilogy of Macross frontier games that came out for psp all available on PS4/5 and Nintendo switch. Heck Macross M3 and the DYRL would be good too. Ok, all Macross games please! twich -

Or re-release of merch for Zero, 7, 2, Frontier, Delta....heck, even Plus would be good. I can’t wait to see the benefits that those outside of Japan can reap. twich -

Had not even thought about video games too! Really looking forward to seeing all the joyous things that see domestic US distribution. twich -

I would love to see this mean downloadable purchase on like Apple TV, like what we were able to do with Macross plus many moons ago. I don’t have a PC or Mac, so download to iPhone or iPad are my only options for that. I would also like non bootleg or Malaysian releases(don’t know if they are official or not) -

If it allows those outside of Japan to more easily and less expensively to get videos/dvd/blu-ray/downloads AND to get Bandai/Arcadia toys, this would be a truly great day. I am in a state of shock over the possibility. Twich -

Wow, this has been something else. I remember the Yamato USA thing was going to deliver those Macross Plus toys, now the prospect of maybe getting a us distribution of Macross Series/OVA’s with official subs is almost too much. Good thing I am sitting down! I cannot wait to hear the details! Been waiting for this since 1985. Twich -
I was thinking that the hydrogen/propellant needed to be cryogenically stored, but if that is not the case, then the aforementioned HBT canister would work perfectly. Twich

While the weathering effect would be cool, the white of the recent release with GBP coupled with the black, tampo detail would really pop, IMHO.
-
Well, I guess you are right. If it comes with fast packs, I will still want it. I most desire the base Variable Fighter with all that printed on detail without having to spend for a rare, hard to find Bandai DX VF-1J Hikaru
-
The SV-262 does not have Ex-Gear, but all other 5th Gen Variable fighters do.

Has it ever been discussed why Arcadia has never come out with a Premium Finish 1/60 VF-1J Hikaru? I almost wonder if they are going to be a special thing for 40th anniversary, or are they planning something for this year? Does anyone know? I would prefer it without fast packs, just like they show it in the animation. If it is released without the fast packs, it might make it more attainable for us.

I had thought that the issue was a non-issue, since with overtechnology and whatnot, that there was either a non-radiation answer(basically). Speaking on how small the thermonuclear reactors can be, if it ever gets into the mind of Kawamori/Studio Nue/ to make a combat mecha in the same vein as the ride armors from Mospeada, we will not have to worry about the HBT cannisters or anything, just the small amount of fuel needed to power the reactor/propellant. They already kind of have something like this in the Ex-Gear control suit/emergency escape suit with powered flight, though the Ex-Gear uses chemical rockets. Given the amount of times that we see mecha pilots leave their Variable Fighters behind and explore/scout/go make sure the enemy you were just dog fighting is alive after crash landing, a variable power armor that allows for increased mobility and flight seems a wise choice, plus if it would allow for orbital re-entry if your Variable Fighter gets shot down before you can make planet fall. Just wishful thinking, I guess.... Twich

question related to the zentradi combat mecha. In the battlesuits and the regult, where/how big is the reactor to power the mecha and does it offer sufficient shielding for the pilot to protect them from a thermonuclear reactor that is behind their backs/heads/nether regions? I realize that the zentradi are disposable troopers, but having your soldiers suffer from radiation poisoning doesn't seem all that productive. This question has a bit of the basis in the Terminator armor from Warhammer 40k. In the terminator suit, the reactor is behind their head with just a small division between. Twich

Didn’t they tease hi Metal r Macross zero stuff a while ago? I’d rather spend $100 for a 1/100 scale transformable figure than $500-$700 for a 1/60 scale one twich

I think the simple answer would be that “S” or commander versions mostly universally have uprated or more powerful engines and also have command and control capabilities which usually means more advanced communications and a broader overview of the battlefield situation with troop deployments/assets in a given theatre of operations. I “grunt” or “cannon fodder” wouldn’t need and in some cases, wouldn’t be trusted with that level of information. Plus commanders are experienced veterans, you wouldn’t give a suped up ride to a complete rookie, would you?
