  1. I know it's not Bandai's fault, but man I still can't get over how ugly those boosters look. Off the top of my head I can't think of any other valk that has them so poorly and unimaginatively integrated. Kawamori really phoned it in on that design. The completest in me may still get a set but I can't see me ever displaying them attached in fighter or gerwalk mode.

I hope so (in bold). While I know that I will buy it as is (the VF-2SS is my favorite valk) I was really hoping for something that looked better than that. The last thing I would want is for low sales due to clunky design (visible screws, over-sized hip joints, etc...) causing Bandai to not pursue producing anything else from Macross II.

VF-2SS! VF-2SS! Yes! Yes! Yes! While battroid has some issues that fighter mode looks super sexy. It appears that they were able to get it to have more of a flat profile than ET. Super excited that this didn't disappear into the ether. Oh man I really hope this thing sells well. Since this HMR includes enemy mecha it opens up the possibility (no matter how super slim) to get Feff's Gigamesh. I would KILL for that thing. It looks like 2017 could be a pretty nice year for Macross HMR.
  4. I used Future on my Ivanov. Most of the joints just took one application. The worst was the neck. That thing had absolutely no friction at all and would swivel with just the slightest bump or breeze. I had to apply at least 4 or 5 coats. In the end I was able to get all of the joints nice and tight.
  5. I'm hoping that they will announce either Messer's or Mirage's for the next release. I'm on the fence with the 31J but those two are a must get along with a 31A.

Hopefully they get a few more of Max for pre-order at HLJ before the release date. I lucked out when they did it with Hikaru and fingers crossed that the same happens with Max.
  7. The sad thing is that the Bandai Gundam team did think of that, and have done it many times. But I'm sure you are right that the Bandai Macross team doesn't like us enough to do something like that.

Got my VF-1A and VF-1J. It's nice to have a squadron in flight when paired with my VF-1S. I was surprised that the gun handle came molded into the hands. I wish that they left them as a separate piece like on the VF-1S. It made for a much cleaner look.

If they ever released it, that's how I would have displayed it - in a just released/ ready to blast off state. Be pretty awesome if they also provided some exhaust effects to go with it too.
  10. That would be perfect if they did what they did for the unicorn. A PT fin for those that don't like to part swap and a solid open and closed version for those of us that don't mind to swap parts would be a best of both worlds solution.
  11. I really like looking at your collection. Everything is neat, clean, and well organized. While you have a lot of items none of it feels cluttered. Each item has an unobstructed view and can be seen from multiple angles. Quite impressive.

Somehow I doubt that anyone on this forum has a problem with that.
  13. I do agree with you that our familiarity with various versions of the VF-1 over the years tends to make transforming the V2 easier for the first time. At this point though I have had plenty of practice with all of the valks in my collection and find the V2 to be the easiest to transform and pose out of all of them. I'd put the Frontier (25, 27, and 29) and 0 valks as a close second, which I guess makes sense since their transformation is very similar. The most difficult for me is the 21/22, especially getting everything properly aligned when putting back into fighter. For me, I'd say the VF-4G is somewhere in the middle.

Expecting to get my VF-1A and VF-1J on Thursday. Currently my planes are on a plane.
  15. Wow. That's only 4000y less than the VF-1S with super packs. Sure, that was a re-issue of an existing mold but still... Not only does it not transform but, other than the missile covers, I don't see any moving parts or gimmicks of any kind. In the end I'll probably still get one but that price is going to make me feel like I was cheated and will probably negatively color my opinion of it no matter how good it is. I'll probably always be comparing it to what else I could have purchased instead for the same amount (like a V2 VF-1 on Jungle or Mandarake).

Same here. Just got my payment request from HLJ within the last hour. I also noticed that the VF-1J is already in discontinued status along with the VF-1A.
  17. Same. Especially for HMR. I'm all for them expanding the line into other properties (Dougram) to hopefully keep the line going. But after the VF-1J Max next month they don't have any other regular Macross releases (Milia's an exclusive) scheduled. Hopefully we hear about something new soon.
  18. Just one for me. Can't imagine myself displaying two VF-0's in armor at the same time.
  19. That's a pretty awesome set of pics. Some of them really feel like you are on the tarmac. I really hope that Bandai and/or Arcadia decide to re-visit the low-vis scheme with their releases.
  20. Sure. I'll have to look tonight to verify the size. I used a pin vise but all of the bits it comes with were too small so I ended up using the smallest bit that came in my standard drill bit set. Was the perfect size. Edit: It was a 1/16th bit.
  21. Got my parts this past weekend. I had to drill the holes a little and sand the sides (as expected for printed parts) and they worked like a charm. Happy to have my VF-25's back in service.
  22. Oh man, I'd do just about anything for that VF-0C.
  23. OK, now I can't un-see that. I still think I like it better than the 17S which always reminded me of a cylon with a hat.
  24. Ah, that explains why the Facebook link I found didn't work. Guess they are finding out the hard way that there's only so much intellectual theft a large company like Bandai will let you get away with. The strike is one of my top favorite Gundams so it would be hard to pass on one but if they aren't going to make any more in a matching scale it will make me think twice. I really liked the idea of a 1/72 scale as I already have plenty of PG and MG models and having something that fit in between, with MB quality and aesthetics, would have been perfect.
  25. Well, OK, maybe review wasn't quite the right word. I wasn't expecting a video or multi paragraph write up or anything. Perhaps 'in-depth and/or general opinion' would be better. Thanks for the video review link. It will definitely be helpful. And on a side note I'm surprised they are able to get away with using the actual Gundam name. Something like Gundoom or some such would have been more of what I would have expected.
