I'd love to see a VF-4 done up.

Well put, JB0. Until HG's stranglehold is broken (unlikely in the near future unless the Macross lands right on top of their offices in Storm Attacker Mode and Misa decides to do a "full thruster burn" of the Ship's main engines while it's standing there*), there's most likely not going to be a whole lot of Macross releases in the US per se.

Thanks! Meantime, been trying to resist weathering, modifying or even thinking of changing anything about my VF-1J: Of course, out of boredom, I put three of my collectibles from the 80's together: But of course, out of boredom, they began to chat amongst themselves... Meantime (in all seriousness), I'm considering selling the "battle fortress" I kludged together. Stay tuned on that one...

WOW! Really intricate detailing in this one! I prefer the second one with less yellow myself; the YF-19 is kind of a tan/ cream color, and the toning down of the yellow adds a bit more realism to it. I love the added detail of the soldiers near the foot of the Battroid;it adds a sense of scale to the pic! Awesome work! Two thumbs up from the pengbuzz!

My take on Episode 12 from SDFM: "Big Escape". You know it's embarrassing when someone just flew a Valkyrie right through your bridge (not to mention right in front of your BOSS), and all you can do is glare after them as they proceed to streak to the nearest exit. Breetai's probably going to need some Zentraedi-strength Tylenol after this one... https://www.patreon.com/pbz313

Thanks! I have some early pictures of it in paint: it's a bit rough and I'm not fully decided on the colors, but here it is:
-
Huh...I always imagined the ASS-1 a bit differently, but then again, nothing's really been set in stone I suppose. Further progress:
-
Well, the SDF-1 could be represented during it's crash by a Snickers bar then.
-
Update: Got a few more things on there. Starting to look kinda like a ship. It won't transform of course, but hey, it's at least something no one's seen before, right? Now i just need guns for the bottom of the "arms".
-
My latest...er...build: I had some parts kicking around, and one thing led to another... next thing I know, i have this. Not sure if it's a half-assed battle fortress wannabe with valk legs, or a some kind of kludge-gunship thing. Maybe it's just some kind of kibble on a flight deck bulkhead, but all I know is it just happened. Stay....um..tuned (kinda, I think?)...

The QRau; that would be an interesting build...
-
Mine was custom built, due to lack of funds. Maybe someday when I have money again I'll try one. I bet the booms could be beefed up a bit with some styrene. To be honest: I wonder if someone could cross a 1/8000 cruiser with a 1/8000 storm attacker and make a transforming version?

OOPS! Double post, and I just caught this!

1/72 Imai VF-1S Kitbash PART II: The VF-1S STRIKEs back!!!
pengbuzz replied to pengbuzz's topic in The Workshop!
Well, I was thinking about an SDF-1 at some point in the future... just gotta find one sometime when I have funds. But until then, I have a scratchbuild of a 1/72 Regult that I think i need to attend to. -
More pics in my topic (so I don't blow this one up!).

UPDATE: Okay folks, some major progress happened between the last post and this one; you can find the progress starting here: At any rate, here are the final pics of this; I will be building the box missile launchers, but I wanted to get the display done, so here we go with a set of better photos: (Yeah, kinda fuzzy, huh?) With all of this done, I just have a few more "nit-picks" to do. "What's next?" you may ask? Normally, i would say "the world!!!", but I already took care of that one... In all seriousness: I'd like to thank: Thom (for resurrecting this project with his generosity) Derex3592 MechTech big F NZEOD sketchley xigfrid Arbit And everyone else who contributed suggestions to this, as well as moral support (let me know if I forgot anybody!) Thanks everyone! -
BTW: did I mention that the keyboard has a Gerwalk mode?
-
Erm.... I don't have kids. o.o Yeah; it's a 1:1 scale MS "Natural" Keyboard mode kit by Microsoft. After getting it, I decided it looked too "toylike" and proceeded to weather it with artist's pastels, graphite pencil, acrylic paint, barbecue sauce, plastic welder, mustard, ketchup, charcoal pencils, magic marker, a few dabs of model cement and my own grubby fingers: I then sealed it with about 20-30 layers of clearcoat, chapstick, hairspray and the oils from my fingers. I'm really proud of this custom; it's the "centerpiece" of my collection.

UPDATE: Before I put shots up on my topic here or Facebook, I recall you kind folks wanting to see this with the Strike Valk on and deployed.... ...wish granted : Stay tuned...

Thanks so much; the encouragement and help the kind folks here have given me (Especially Thom with his generous gift!) got me well back on track with this. About now, said "pricks" should be needing some band-aids for their jaws if they have seen any of the pix online. Speaking of which, I was a little unhappy about how the central mount hub and arms came out, so I redid them: This one is both sets of arms mounted: I rebuilt the hub to look a bit more like it should; the white plastic in there is drying and will be trimmed up, sanded and painted tomorrow or so. I mounted the arms with some "U" shaped parts that physically bound them to the hub, then glued the striped cover plate over them and put filler in between them. The arms are only partially there due to the system I worked out to mount the valk to the arms: The arms detach on one side, and two plastic runners slide through the valkyrie under the Strike boosters: one fore and one aft. The rear one goes through a discretely-hidden hole through the backpack mount, under the boosters. Once in, they then connect to the remaining parts glued to the arm. The other side: The idea is to paint the arms the grey color about halfway (the taped parts), then paint the remaining arm "booster" color and black color where applicable. That way, unless one looks closely, the clamps only appear to grasp about halfway on the boosters, as they do on the plans and whatnot i have seen. Meanwhile, this should provide a secure connection that will only release when I want it to. On the subject of connections, I addressed an issue with the legs continually flopping down: I glued a post into the back of the leg armor, and set a poly-cap into where it normally would set in fighter mode. When connected, the legs will not flop down and the fighter is very stable. Stay tuned folks. Meantime, I will be updating the regular progress thread in a bit.
