Yup on all counts! Here's the extended version of the title song:
-
I wish they'd bring that show back. A lot in the storyline that needed to be resolved, and a lot of potential that wasn't tapped.
-
Lol! Well, the UMM-7 Micro-missile launchers are finally done for my Strike Valk (about time, right?). Looking forward to the SDF-1 Macross!
-
double post.

Guess what I finally got around to building?

Top Gun: Maverick (Top Gun 2 is comin)

And Cruise jumping all over the chairs, yelling while Oprah is watching in shock. -
Definitely; with the economy right now, "scrounging for work" can be worse than trying to find a photo-etched detail part in a shag rug!

Interesting, Arbit! Looking to see where you take this idea. BTW: speaking of Yamato (and several other animes): has anyone ever noticed that many of the shows are a bunch of "bad guy ships" chasing around ONE "good guy ship"?
-
Yup, although admittedly I was pretty skeptical even while getting them out of the hard drive. Quite a bit rides on those magnets' ability to hold the Strike Valk in place!

Okay; what they need to do is scrap the movie, take the actors salaries that they would have paid them, sue HG and Sony for the rights to everything "Macross" in (insert unmentionable series here), then make a Macross movie and tell Cruise he can get together with John Travolta and remake "Battlefield Earth" or something. -
As promised, here are the pics: (Sorry for the blurriness) Near as I can tell, it won't shake off the launch arm. Just need to do some more details on the arm (the "grab fingers" I suppose) and it should eb all set.

While I'm waiting for my next project to get here (and hopefully for a chance to get my own pc fixed), I got the chance to get my hands on some rare earth magnets. So, after popping off the backpack for my "Starfighters" Strike Valk, I glued them in via hot melt glue and put some on the boom end of my launch arm dio. I hope to have pis as soon as the glue dries and I can test it out. Stay tuned...

Okay, this DESERVES a Necropost. I know Jay-Lew hasn't been around in quite some time. of what has happened to him. But the level of work that went into this is simply monumental (like the subject he modeled in this topic!).

I saw on this link the colors used for the Bandai 1/72 VF-1A/S kit, and they had paint instructions: http://www.mech9.com/2013/07/bandai-172-vf-1as-valkyrie-construction.html I saw that one called for Aqueous Hobby Color "Cream Yellow" (H34) and a "pinch of Orange Yellow" (H24). I wonder if this could work, with a slight amount of white to correct to the final hue?

I'd go about 8mm and include some sort of thin padding. JMO.

Understood MT: My computer has been giving me serious issues as of late. First, my hard drive is dying; a friend of mine owed me a favor so he loaned me his copy of Norton Ghost to clone my old drive. Then, my computer would not boot from it; come to find out that a capacitor on the motherboard died and was keeping my PC from reading the disk. So, I scraped together what money I had a new capacitor (2 bucks) and tried to solder it in (yes, so much can go wrong with it). Well, it didn't work and the computer doesn't start at all now (two words: "new motherboard", for which I have no idea where cash is going to come from). To make matters worse: I have Photoshop CS5 extended on that hard drive, but my disk for that as well as Windows 7 Ultimate is missing (I suspect someone filched them on me a while back when I was moving). So, trying to install that on an new hard drive for my computer is going to be impossible even without the other 2 issue. To add injury to insult: I accidentally dropped on old power supply on my foot while cleaning up from my botched repair attempt. O.O Starting to wonder if my computer and that missile model were related! Meantime, I'm going to go have a root beer float with Mr. Bill.

1/72 Imai VF-1S Kitbash PART II: The VF-1S STRIKEs back!!!
pengbuzz replied to pengbuzz's topic in The Workshop!
Thanks! I wanted to stick to the original "feel and flavor" that was present in the anime. I did add some elements in from DRYL, such as the strike pack and some detailing though. And yes: I hand-painted the launch bay interior (guess all the art training helps after all!). As many times as this project went sour (with one resulting in a high-speed impact with a wall!), I really wanted to get it finished. That said, it was support from folks here (especially Thom!) that got this through the disasters. -
Okay...what sounds am I looking to put in btw? O.o

That is a "finger LED" that you can buy in a 5-pack at the dollar store. As for my computer: been waiting on a friend to ship me Norton Ghost so I can clone my hard drive. UPS has it scheduled for Thursday delivery, after which I'm hoping to have my PC back up. Yeah, it's been WAY too long. And I miss being able to do artwork on my computer. Not to mention I still need to get you the artwork I promised bro.

Okay...I got bored:
-
I've run into that with most cans myself. I found that Krylon works better than most when it comes to paint thickness. That said, I usually work in 3 layers, standing a little farther away from the piece so that I'm not piling so much paint onto it.
-
At this point, I'm considering putting an LED in the "eye" on my Regult.
-
Well, I've been able to get pretty decent paint jobs out of the "rattle cans" myself. I don't know if you mentioned it earlier, but what issues are you having now with your paint?
-
Answer: garbage.
