  1. 1) It sounds like a wire may not have been soldered on as well as it should have, or another connectivity issue. A simple volt meter should be able to tell, but the trick is accessing the wires going to the LCD panel to get the probes onto the connections. I tried researching that online (bet you have as well), but no dice! 2) That would sound like either the male or female end is recessed too deeply into the body/ shoulder cannon to properly make connection. The issue with hat is that the plug is divided up into different zones that would receive positive or negative current (from my time fixing headphones), so adding a drop of solder may or may not fix it. You can try it of course to see if it works! I wonder if either of the plugs could be coaxed out of the part (I'd imagine it would be very difficult, due to the nature of the material and how well those plugs are glued in! In all the cases you mentioned, it sounds like QC is very lacking on Kid's Logic's end, and they don't want to be bothered about it. That stinks man; i feel for you.
  2. I'll be around; just won't be doing many projects is all. Hmm... Roy must've had one too many just before he took Skull-1 out...
  3. UPDATE 1: earlier this weekend, the F-18 I was working on had a wing end pop off. In typical fashion, I repaired it, but miscalculated on the glue... ...I just found that it melted a huge hole down the entire inside of the left wing and fuselage. So, the Top Gun: Maverick project is cancelled. Parts have been reallocated to the scrap heap. At least I still have the Tomcat though. But the fun doesn't end there.... UPDATE 2: Nearly finished with the Enterprise... *Now, you folks are probably wondering: "How the heck does all this keep happening to pengbuzz all the time?!" The answer is that I was cursed by a cranky gypsy a few decades ago for stealing her fresh-baked apple pie, and well... you know how it goes.* Seriously though: when I picked the ship up, my thumb ended up going through the shuttle bay doors on the ship. Being that this was a smoothie kit from the 70's, my only surprise is that another part hasn't collapsed from age! The damage: This, on top of the Hornet, was a bit much for me to take. But rather than try to bed a new hangar door for the ship out of styrene, I decided to make a more permanent solution to this issue: I layered 5 sheets of plastic together into a cube, and then machined it down into a new hangar bay door: Ship fitting: Primer and final: On that note: after this project, I am taking a break from doing projects due to fatigue and just too many of them going sour. Part of it is my frame of mind (current events, stress at home and other issues) and part of it is dealing with older projects. The final element is that I may be getting distracted and careless due to stress and stuff, so I need to regroup and rest. Stay tuned for this season's finale.
  4. I believe that was Cobywan from M-factory. THat kit was expensive, and the site selling it is no longer there. Info I found: http://www.starshipmodeler.com/trek/pa_cbop.htm And: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/dons-light-and-magic-dlm-352-klingon-bird-prey-positionable-wing-hinge--165313 Personally (because I am insane), I would make my own template for each part using the illustrations and then make my own parts. It would just be a matter then of getting a metal rod to make the joint and incorporating the baffles into the model.
  5. P-51 Mustang?
  6. Admittedly, they did an excellent job with that; I fear that's the exception and not the rule. I would love it though if I were proven wrong!
  7. I found this a little while ago on Facebook: Anyone have an idea where it's from? Head looks kinda small in relation to the body...
  8. I prefer subs. (Roast beef, provolone cheese, green pepper, black olives, lettuce, tomato, on white bread with a pickle on the side and Ruffles Cheddar and sour cream potato chips and a Pepsi.) As for anime, subs. I feel they better preserve the original feel and intent of the anime, as the dubs can (in my opinion) lose something in the translation. Also, a bad dub can just ruin everything and leave those voices in your mind when you think of the anime!
  9. UPDATE 1: Final on the Tomcat: Calling this one "done" (whew!) UPDATE 2: Got this far on the Refit after someone using a car horn as a "doorbell" made me dump half a bottle of Microsol: Beginning the Aztec pattern, but not using pencil... ...freehanding in pearlescent paint. We'll see how it goes... On that note: wasn't a big fan of blackened botanical garden windows... so I did some "gardening"... Planning to do a light blue glaze to simulate the lights on in there. Stay tuned...
  10. Seeing as I'm currently working on an F-14A Tomcat model (Top Gun), some really interesting and useful info! I just subscribed to that channel; thanks!
  11. I'd just as soon we not have any "hentai reviews" even if "SFW", to be honest. JMO; please delete my comment if I'm out of line.
  12. Got the decals for the Refit from Round 2 today: I have to admit: I'm impressed! I remember the old ones being a scant few, and the hull registry was far too small. These I compared to my sized prints and the hull registry is bang on! I think the strongback decals are too blue (for the refit), but a "glaze coat" of transparent yellow might resolve that. They also include the botanical section windows n black, the sensor bands for the saucer rim (complete with docking gangway hatches) and even the "runway" end for the hangar bay and the sections for the nav deflector. I'd love to see what they could do in designing an all-new kit of the Refit; seeing that Round 2 was recently purchased by another company, that could provide funds for them or it could stall them. We'll see.
  13. Well, it was fine until the upstairs neighbors banged on the floor so hard that it shook the worktable. ANYTHING is gonna fall and break given those circumstances, and I was prepping it for decals and final paintwork. The pylons were stable and weren't an issue until "leadfoot and the stomp session "upstairs got going! As for "nuking it from orbit", I will never do a "self-destruct" Enterprise. That just hurt too much watching it in STIII! Anyways, a small update: I used JB Plastic Bonder to repair the nacelle pylons. I won't be buying that adhesive again, as even with proper mixing and prepping the repair surface (90 percent iso alcohol, bone-dry and grease-free), it took 2 hours to cure and not the "15 minutes to cure, 30 to paint/sand" as the package promised. Several folks on Amazon reviews complained about the same thing as well. But at least it's fixed. Going to wait until morning to clean up the repair areas on the hull and repaint/redecal. Stay tuned folks
  14. Well, yesterday my darling upstairs neighbors decided to have "Stompfest 2021" upstairs. >:( They managed to rattle several things right off the table in our apartment (I SWEAR they must be dropping bowling balls and cinderblocks!) ; thankfully, the Tomcat was NOT amongst the items that fell from the table. it was safely in its' storage bin and thus was not a casualty. However... the Refit WAS. As it stands right now, both nacelle pylons are cracked apart from the Secondary hull. Thankfully, they both have a metal reinforcement rod (bent into a "u" shape") that supports the main weight. That said:... I DID NOT NEED THIS: I should be able to repair the damage with Plastic Welder; then it's a matter of repainting the areas that got cracked (ugh) and doing my best to hide the damage. But since I haven't slept since it happened (I cannot sleep when I'm upset) When I am a bit calmer, I plan on having a very detailed discussion with our landlord, which will include the price for a new tube of Plastic Welder, as well as any other amenities I may need to effect repairs. This discussion will also include the request for the landlord to issue a written warning against our upstairs neighbors (to be retained in the landlord's files and a copy for our own files), and the future possibility of summoning law enforcement/ legal action concerning them and their less-than-civil behavior. It's a very small universe when I'm angry with someone. Stay tuned...
  15. Thanks! Truth be told though: about 99 percent of the decals on there came with the kit! The only ones I printed were the national insignia "roundels", as the kit-supplied ones looked a bit stupid: At the very least, they certainly aren't the national insignia that the Tomcat had in the mid-80's! Anyways, with the Tomcat wrapping up, I have a "surprise" project that has actually been in the background for a while now: It's an F/A-18E Super Hornet that I rescued from a thrift store a while back. Hint for what it's going to be: look at the aileron: Also: does the pilot look a bit familiar? Stay tuned.... "they're called "orders", Maverick..."
  16. Nearly done... just a few more things to button up:
  17. Do you know what that VF-1S Battroid build says to me? "imagine the possibilities, if you dare..." That kit is just begging for superdetailing, engraved panel lines, weathering, increased articulation and clear parts with greeblies behind them.
  18. That was the intent bro! Enjoy the parts! hey...how do you think 3/4 of my projects happen?!
  19. Yeah, the heads I sent to you are smaller, so they might actually work out for you! As for Imai's stuff; I had to carve detail into mine after building it, that's how lacking they were.
  20. My wife does crochet and I do models, so we leave each other alone but take time to show each other our progress. And no, I have no children; never wanted any, and I have seen the horrors of what a kid can do to collections that are unprotected. O.O One time though, one of my friends brought his grandson over to my house and the kid mad a beeline right for my workshop. Both me and my friend ran to stop him before he could make it in, and he was really upset when "he couldn't 'play' with (utterly destroy) the cool stuff". No...I don't trust kids.
  21. Pardon the tongue-in-cheek example, but it reminds me of this part in Austin Powers: The steamroller would be the star and the civilization in question would be the guard who doesn't move in time, even though the steamroller is taking nearly forever to get to him. With that said, the civilization just sitting there while the star is giving off warnings is very much the same: it;'s their own blasted fault.
  22. Thanks guys! I did have to walk it back a bit though, as the dark areas looked more bluish than "dirty"; was trying to go for a multi-layered paint and repaint job here! lol Current results so far: I finally finished the framing on the cockpit, which is hard for me to get my head around, because the canopy came from a different model! Stay tuned...
