  1. Patiently waiting for Amazon JP to ship out mine. Strangely they will only get their stock on 02 July, one week later than HlJ and I assume other JP stores..
  2. Just throwing this one out here.. It’s quite satisfying watching all 8 figs come together, with its crazy detailed but solid engineering and the paint job looks pretty phenomenal. Even has that balls of steel from the movie. 😂
  3. Now the VF-25 is back to my top favorite fighter valk design. This spot alternates between a rather long list every other week lol I have not transformed it yet. Perhaps not daring to find out if the hips are loose..
  4. Despite the shortcomings in the joint strength, I actually don’t mind the mega partsforming aspect of the VF100 line so much. It just presents another way to enjoy a toy, somewhat like a simple Lego but with rather accurate sculpt. It’s a good thing the plastics are pretty strong and the parts fit rather well. Since this line’s initial release, over the years there have been more 1/100 Macross items so I feel they display well against each other. The Family Mart version is a unique scheme, and I love the metallic fighter-only schemes of the VF-25S & VF-25F.
  5. Opened and fiddled with a VF100 Armored VF-25F. Going over reviews of it, I already lowered my expectations accordingly and intended it to be mostly a statue piece for display. Yet I didn't expect it was this bad as a toy whilst setting it up. The hips are loosey goosey, won't support the weight of its legs when posed hanging in the air, and together with the equally loose & rubbish ankles it will not stand at all by itself on a solid surface. The included stand is also very limited in its movement range, such that this is about the only pose I can make it do with valk's feet touching the ground.
  6. Thanks, I'll try that
  7. I kinda think the chest is actually the same. The upper shoulder piece in the 31AX isn't folded down like the older 31S, likely due to the larger canards now. But yeah.. most other parts are outwardly similar. This recolor looks better than the old one, but is it enough to be excited for...?
  8. Love these 2 customs, especially the YF-21. BTW, for the Yammie 1/60 YF-21 / VF-22, what is the fix for the wings that tend to droop slightly? Yours are really straight.. I tried to search it up in these forums, and I know it was mentioned before, but no luck so far..
  9. Other than the differing mounting points due to different base valk, I’m trying to see what are the main design differences between this AX Armor and the older 31 Armor.. the various cannons, booster pods, missile hatches are the same, no?
  10. For a display piece, I like this clear fold version as well. It looks better in flesh than in most pictures. The coating on the whole valk looks to be the similar stuff used for Yamato’s rainbow canopies. Because it is all clear plastic, it tends to be more brittle especially on stressed small areas. I would be careful of the ratcheted swing-wing mechanism as the teeth may break easily compared to other VF-25 variants.
  11. We have the science winner!
  12. Yes, this must be it lol.. Not so convinced that matte plastic by itself more resistant to yellowing. After all, the YF-30 appear to yellow as easily as the other glossy Frontier valks. I was a bit bothered by the black ankles in this WWM VF-25. Looking closely it appears to be black molded plastic. I always thought they were full metal items on the older VF-25s, but I guess they are nicely painted metal-finish items after all.
  13. Great work as usual @Lolicon! Mine arrived yesterday, handled it briefly. Does anyone think if the new, matte plastics somehow feels stronger compared to the older 25 releases? Although the YF-30 from that era is also matte finished, this one feels somewhat different. But when I put this and the old 25 on the scale, they weighed exactly the same (only 1g difference).
  14. The colors really look nicely done in this pic.
  15. Chased down some older items to fill some gaps: A Yamato Ghost Booster QF-2200D-A. This really took quite sometime as it pops up rather infrequently, more so for reasonable bucks, as compared to the B version. A VF100’s Armored VF-25F. Didn’t feel like paying crazy prices for the 1/60 Renewal Armored Parts, so this will make do as companion display piece to the rest of 1/60 VF-25. Also snagged a set of Sankyo Macross Fever metal straps. Nice metal representation of VF-1J in all 3 modes. I believe these originally came with the DVD containing remade scenes of SDFM for the pachinko machines.
  16. I somehow felt something else was off, but couldn’t place it earlier. So, it is that white colored wing pod.. Strange, because prototypes in earlier pics show it to be same as the boosters, exactly like the artwork:
  17. Not really a Gundam fan myself, but certain designs resonates from design perspective, and the Wing Gundams are one of those.
  18. On the upside, the chest lock does seem present after all, and shown quite clearly on Wotafa's review. Interesting because another earlier reviewer's video was on contrary..
  19. Add loose ankle ball joint to the list of potential issues..
  20. More and more issues.. Not too long ago some of us speculated Bandai might introduce fixes on the 31AX; if not Mirage’s, then Bogue’s. How the tables have turned. Instead, it’s new problems on a long established mold. Max’s YF-29 doesn’t look like a sure win now..
  21. Thanks for the initial impressions @Lolicon. In the pictures and of others, have Bandai made the diecast parts totally black now? I see that in the landing gears and also the ankles.. Just like yourself, collecting Macross at this point mostly feel like for completist purposes. This mostly due to having run out of display room, so new arrivals mostly go straight to storage for the ever changing solution in mind to the display situation. Whilst waiting for my copy to arrive, I pulled my VF-25S from the display, fussed with it, and the early satisfaction of collecting DX Chogokin Macross toys came back to me, back when the v2 VF-25F Alto was really the first toy that immediately got me into this rabbit hole & toy collecting in general. I’ve forgotten being so impressed with how it felt in hand, how far toy tech has come from days as a kid, with the sharp sculpts, materials, integrated gimmicks & not to mention the perfect transformation factor enabled by Kawamori-san’s design. Once released worldwide, this WWM VF-25 might become shelf-warmish due to the rather meh impressions so far. I hope it doesn’t discourage Bandai reissuing the rest of the VF-25 colors, especially as the Frontier movies are now making it out of Japan. I’ll recollect them all in matte finishing, since the VF-25 is the one that started my journey..
