  1. Haha wonky scaling aside, I'm just happy Bandai made the pilot figures of better quality. And now only realized that Roy's figure is a totally different mold than Hikaru's. He appears to be physically bigger as well. This another difference from others who tend to use generic mold repaints. Roy blasting after Hikaru to provide backup..
  2. Err.. how about 2 different shades of yellowing in within the same pic?
  3. I watched this in 3D Imax yesterday. Before this, I had only ever watched a small handfull of movies in 3D over the past decade. The first was Avengers 2012, and that movie gave me vertigo after 15 minutes. Others were more bearable, but it just gave the feeling of watching cardboard cutouts placed at various distances from the screen, somewhat not unlike parallax scrolling sprites in the days of 2D console gaming. And so, I came to righful conclusion that 3D is not worth the extra ticket price. It is just distracting, gimmicky and encapsulates why the whole 3D industry kind of died down. Nevertheless, I always had the nagging feeling that the original Avatar in 3D would be a totally different experience from the other fake, pseudo post-processed 3D movies, due to the actual camera equipment James Cameron developed himself & used. So I gave Avatar 2 another chance in 3D, and went in with little expectations. And let me just say, I was totally BLOWN away. The 3D here has infinite depth perception, and together with the sharp CGI, totally believable creature motion, intimate camerawork, easy to follow action sequences, you are never overwhelmed but always glued in wonder from start till the end. For the price of a premium movie ticket, it is worth much more than the 10 minute 3D screen rides at theme parks, when you get a whole 3 hours EYEGASM experience here. This movie stands up for 3D visuals and that alone. It is akin to a VR scuba diving experience, and nobody does underwater sequences like James Cameron if one is familiar with his background. He kind of reminds me of Enzo Ferrari, who makes road cars only to fund his racing; and similarly James Cameron makes movies to fund his deep-sea diving explorations. If watched in 2D, it will just be another generic CGI-fest with very middling story, you'd be shortchanging yourself and wondering what the whole fuss is about, similar to what I felt when I watched the original in 2D (it was a snooze). It has to be watched in 3D or else do not watch at all. After the show, I was told that the 3D implementation here is magnitudes better than the original Avatar 3D. Here is reviewer which encapsulates what I feel about this. I agree with him 200% here. https://www.reelviews.net/reelviews/avatar-the-way-of-water
  4. Hikaru heading off to a secret mission... One of the things I like about the DX VF-1, is how much more improved the pilot figures are over their 1/60 efforts. The molding is not only much sharper, but the paint has noticeably less bleed too. I do think it trumps Arcadia's efforts which always have the nicest pilot figures, though one can argue the DX VF-1 pilots have the benefit of being larger..
  5. Yamcadia valks may somewhat cost double of Bandai's, but from yellowing experience they are much more resistant to it and appear to take twice as long before they turn. I have always wanted to try the fishing line method to display valks; they are a such a clean way to show them in flight. Actually bought some but never got around to doing it yet.

    Macross figures

It took me a while to find this, but glad I got it because it is pretty unique. A 3D figure within a photo frame.
  7. It is slim chance these days going by their current release pattern, but I hope Bandai also move on to revive the non-heroic schemes. The YF-25 Prophecy is one of my earliest valks, it is now yellowed as heck. I dug up an old pic back when it was new and re-processed it, and to me this one of the best schemes of any valk.
  8. I hope they show the redesigned Dana soon. What's odd to me is that figures with fabric are supposed to be their new 'premium' line, and they are upgrading it when costs are already going up quite a fair bit in these times. I suppose it will be a good bonus for those of us who PO'ed early, but I expect the MSRP to jump quite a bit when the re-tool is shown.
  9. Lol natural weathering for the valk.. This stealth paint scheme will never get old.
  10. The shoulders are as stiff as ever
  11. VF-22 has a weird bubble canopy, but somehow that quirk works perfectly for its overall design..
  12. The matte metallic red is unexpected, but I like it. To me it looks better than the photoshopped pics they used for PO, and now I'm thinking of putting in an order, but then I remembered ThreeZero is also coming out with a 1/72 VF-1.. So, Dana figure to be out in April 2023. Rick in orange jumpsuit to be released this month itself?
  13. Sometimes little figures can surprisingly fun..
  14. Thanks @Angesdad & @no3Ljm Is it modded? Just it being able do an A-stance makes a whole world of difference and gives it a more modern look.
  15. Revisiting the Sentinel Legioss..
  16. Wasn't very happy with a previous SV-262Hs pic, so went ahead and re-did it. I'm not familiar with in-universe mechanics, but it appears the 'eyes' for all the valks in Delta are self-illuminated? This as compared to Frontier, whereby although some scenes show the eyes / lens light up, it is more akin to external light reflecting off them instead..
  17. The last of the Evangelion trio.. selfie time!
  18. I am pretty satisfied with the HMR, but DX is always welcome! Part of me though, wish Bandai would continue the Macross 2 HMR line. Really want them to do a VF-2JA, and eventually a Zentran VF-XX as something different. Hate to think that Macross 2 valks are looking to be on a long hiatus yet again..
  19. Couple of leftover pics from when I was messing with the HMR VF-2SS not long ago... One other thing I like about the cockpit canopy, is that although it is green tinted, it is still quite transparent and hence can make out the details within, rather nicely for its scale. Take that Chogokin 31!
  20. I don't really build model kits, but I can imagine how amazing this find is.. what a time machine experience.

    Macross figures

Today's figure is quite a fair bit older than CM's. An Arii 1/6 Minmay...
  22. Never watched Evangelion... but just like ladies in tight pilot suits.
  23. Ah gotcha ... with the head, and shape of wings hanging off the back, the whole VF-31F look just gives me moth vibes overall.
  24. The thin body & limbs sort of mirrored Kawamori’s own fashion sense I guess? Lol.. VF-25 was still very acceptable to me when I first came across it, but with the VF-31, just that big hump on the back throws the overall proportions off quite a bit. Its not really back kibble in TF toys kind of way, but it sure looks a lot like it… Not sure what you mean, but is it regarding the crotch flap? I think I inadvertently bumped it out too far whilst moving the toy into place for the shot, & didn’t notice until well into processing.
