Consolidated Megazone 23 Toy/Model Thread for 2017-2018
MKT replied to RavenHawk's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I like the way you put it haha.. It's great these Arcadia releases are such top quality. But ironically, the more well made any toys are, the more reluctant I am to handle them and I've been wondering if anyone else feels the same. There's sort of a mental resistance being afraid to foul up anything even though their build has been proven to be robust and Arcadia's Garlands are firmly in this territory. Glad that Arcadia have sold the Garlands and Proto-Garlands pretty well, for them to now do a 3rd issue for both.- 817 replies

I’ve never transformed mine to Battroid, so always like to look at pics of it other than Fighter. The particular shade of gray Yamato used is just perfect & that yellow matches it so well. I don’t know why I never saw it or made the link before, but I only now realised the VF-25S basically has almost the same colours. No wonder it was Frontier’s best scheme!

If I remember, KC migrated to a new site about 3 years ago. Older orders that were already completed were not carried over, only those orders that are outstanding at point of migration should be captured in the new site. I checked then and re-checked just now, my Dana orders are there. In any case, there should be an e-mail record of the order, and in the case of Paypal, an email notification of payment made.

I didn’t think I’ll ever be getting seconds of anything just for display-in-box, but this really makes a strong case for it.

Ditto here.. each Macross show have been intentionally different in tone & presentation, so they feel like independent shows but connected to a larger universe. Not really a bad thing, especially in light of so many things being made to crossover these days.

My go-to video whenever I have some Star Fox nostalgia.. Although the original game was revolutionary at its time, it can look too dated today. This remake video somehow hits the right spot on what I imagined & wanted it to be while playing it all its blocky polygon glory back in the day.

Yup, die cast, they do not transform, the wings do sweep but that’s about it. Courtesy of @jenius: https://anymoon.com/blog/?p=2259#more-2259 -

If not wrong, this occasionally pops up at YAJ for Yen 2500-3000. -
Agreed. Let’s hope Arcadia releases another cool non-canon scheme like this for the next anniversary celebrations..

Thanks guys. Although Aoshima didn't give a diecast treatment to Blue Thunder, thankfully Organic did, although the scale was quite different. I instead wished Aoshima would have given us a diecast HX1, which I consider to be Airwolf's true rival.

I wonder where that Myung figure is from. Is it a resin kit? -
I use an Iphone SE, then run the pics mainly through multitude of global filters on the Snapseed app. The stand though has been individually edited in Photoshop, I desaturated it because I can't stand the purple.

It is the perfect line for cost, accuracy, durability & playability. Seeing this VE-1 reminds me of the excitement when it was announced & released. This was before Arcadia reissued it in 1/60 PF, and the VE-1 was always a bit of a small grail then. -
I sometimes feel the VF-0 in battroid, have a bit of strange proportions. In-universe it is supposed to be the predecessor to the VF-1, but sometimes it feels more like a kitbash of something else to make it look like a VF-1 lol.

I guess the Invid Scouts really did some damage to that green Alpha!

Thanks. The YF-21 cockpit may look pretty basic, but I forgot one aspect of it though. The seat can actually rotate so the pilot is seated the right way in battroid, same as what Arcadia eventually implemented for their VF-0 toys. It is these little gimmicks that will always endear Yamcadia valks to me more than Bandai.. -

I don't know anything about light saber merchandises, but this looks awesome. Hilt looks like its machined from billet metal, and that saber's green glow is fabulous. -

Not very sure where to put this, so I'll just post here some comparison of cockpits & pilots between the 1/60 Mac+ valks: Yammie's YF-21 Fighter may still look very handsome today, but pop open the cockpit and Guld doesn't look very good. He's more or less a rough big blob squashed in the cockpit, with just enough detail to see his zen-like hand posture. Cockpit interior also has barely any detail, with some plastic sticking out that supposedly emulates the flight stick & throttle. Moving on to the VF-11b, Yamato tampoed on some nice cockpit screen detailing, but one of my top favourite party trick of any Macross valk toy, is the removable cockpit module. I suppose, this feature of the VF-11b is to emulate the escape pod module seen in jets like the F-111 Aardvark. In this VF-11b toy, what I'm stoked about is how well toleranced the cockpit module is sitting very flush in the nose of the jet. However, the pilot figure's proportions are also quite off, looking pretty wide. Arcadia stepped up and gave nicely proportioned and sharper Isamu & Yang figures for their YF-19. I like how they have limited articulation for both of them, and it would be a nice if they have continued offering some of these limited articulation for pilots in their other valks. Somehow no cockpit screen detailing here, but I really love the split cockpit canopy opening like how suicide doors are cool on some cars. More than that, there's this little feature in the way the front canopy opens that's just feels pretty awesome to me. Whether it is canon or just a toy transformation legacy that started all the way from Yammie's 1/72 YF-19, carried on midway the VF-19 and through till the YF-19 now, but for the front canopy to open properly the anti-glare area in front of it needs to be recessed. It makes the pivot point of the front canopy lower, such that the top of it becomes more or less level with the rear canopy when both are opened. Bandai's YF-19 on other hand doesn't have this feature, and to me it is another subtle but elegant plus point of Arcadia's over Bandai. -
Looks great here. Just missiles but somehow in combination with that angle & wing sweep makes it look menacing.
-
Just appreciating the rainbow canopy.. Hopefully Bandai's application last, and won't crack or peel over time like Yamato's.

The AX also has something else that I didn't think would happen. It just isn't very much fun to swoosh around in Fighter. Due to the design itself, there's aren't many surfaces you can wrap your fingers around in swooshable grip without risking being poked due to all the sharp edges.
