I'm still having quite a bit of fun with the Ghosts, way beyond I ever thought I would.. Whether it is with full Super Parts.. or without. I keep finding new ways to play or imagine. The lack of traditional cockpit, together with the design of its underside, actually makes the design pretty viable if the Ghost is flipped over. For example, taking the above pic & just rotating it upside down, makes me imagine it as a spacecraft on its gentry waiting to launch from the bay doors below.. Or in this configuration, imagining it as a watercraft skimming along the surface on its booster pontoons.. The lack of visible cockpit also means it's easier to imagine it as something of a very different scale. Here it reminds me strongly of a capital ship from another sci-fi. Just needs a big saucer to attach overhead, and then it will be ready to go explore the final frontiers of space.

So far haven’t really heard any breakage on the Arcadia 1st issue Kai yet. Crossing fingers.. But the Yamato ones are worrying. It sounds like a very slow ticking time bomb, not dissimilar to the long term joint breakage of the Renewal VF-25. Gotta muster up courage to check my copies in storage..

Great shot @Saburo Miss your pics on these boards.

Firstly, if the web store has options to change displayed currency, then always set it to Yen. Hobby Search though, seems to deal in Yen only so that would be the default currency. When paying via Paypal, it usually first shows the transaction amount in your local currency (Euro?). This is the marked-up Paypal exchange rate that is above the bank’s CC rate. There will be an option on that screen, to change the amount back to Yen, which if I remember read along the lines of ‘let bank handle currency exchange’. Paypal is pretty sneaky about this though; there isn’t really a default option to do this, so you have to manually change this setting for each transaction as and when they come up that involves logging into Paypal. The complication is when certain web stores (like HLJ) asks you to sign billing agreements instead when you pay for the first time; so any future payments after that will be automated. Billing agreements will always be in your local currency (Paypal exchange rates) by default; so there’s a different procedure to change that agreement to letting your bank handle the exchange.

Regarding the pilots, I'm taking a step back and just thankful that the HMR have any pilots at all. It seems that having pilots is not a standard practice for any toys at this 1/100 scale, and are sorely missed when they aren't included. Just got notice from proxy that Kakizaki has arrived. Now I'm regretting decision to ordering Max from somewhere else so can't combine shipping.

Zzzz the most boring release or reissue ever. Agree with @ValkAddict, the Super Ostrich is really what's needed for any VF-1 release.

Many of the abridged movie versions for Macross can actually be skipped (disclaimer: Have not seen any Mac 7 so no comment on that). They really only have minor story variations with significantly recycled animation from their respective series. Macross DYRL though is whole different kettle of fish. Although the best enjoyment to be gotten require having seen the TV series first for deeper background & character contexts, the visuals have been redrawn from ground up to be more detailed, fluid and with changes that wholly qualifies it as more of a full remake rather than a summarized version of the series. One can feel that this was really a labour of love from the creators, and watching FB:2012 right after that is a bittersweet icing-on-cake experience. I find it ironic that this was only done for the original Macross, so the magic of Macross DYRL is something that has never been recaptured by its successors.

I don't have real affinity to the Vehicle Voltron cartoon, but I do remember coming across the huge toy box on the bottom shelf at the toy section in the department store during what should be the late 80's. Looking it up now, it must have been Matchbox's, but back then I thought it was the most amazing toy ever based on that box! During the same time, or perhaps on another visit circa the same era, there was the huge SDF-1 toy (Takatoku), but it didn't make as much impression to me as this Voltron did. Perhaps I should pick up the Chogokin one day.

Coming along nicely! I'm envious of such a large space each case provides.

I haven't actually attach the Ghosts to the 31AX yet, and as it happens not infrequently, there's a possibility I will change my mind and come around to like it. But the real X-Wing vibe I want is from the SV-303 Vivasat. Come on Bandai, don't want to wait till Macross Delta 30th Anniversary for it.

The VF-19 Kai should be exhibited again in coming TN 2023 next month. But not sure yet if it will be the Chogokin or HMR as what they previously showed last year, so just putting it here in this tread first for now. https://tamashiiweb.com/item_character/macross_series/?wovn=en

Announcement to show off the prototype yet again. But safe to say it will be released next year to coincide with Mac+ 30th anniversary. https://tamashiiweb.com/item_character/macross_series/?wovn=en

I think some of us were a bit cynical when the Ghost was first shown to now have its own Super Parts, with its double-expanded parts stacking on top of the base VF-31AX. But having it in hand, the Super Parts do add quite a bit of fun. The key to me, is that these parts are visually well integrated to the base Ghost, maintaining nice sleekness, unlike most other super parts to the base VF. For the moment I like to imagine the Ghost as a Fighter in a classic arcade/console shoot-em-up, and adding the individual parts in any or no particular order is akin to obtaining stage upgrades to your Fighter. SWooooshh!

Always pay in JPY and let your card convert the exchange for you. The currency rates the store use are usually pretty high & some borders on cutthroat, and if you are using Paypal, don't use Paypal exchange rates as well. That said, Hobby Search is a good choice.

Easy to forget once they are inside the destroid lol. I really do like the other mini-figs that came with them though, and wish Arcadia made more variety of them to include with their valks. The whole Firebomber mini-figs that came with the VF-19 Kai was a nice touch.
-
Thanks @Raikkonen. Yeah HMR destroids should have pilots included, would have especially loved to see a trio of them for the Monster.
-
Yamato destroids may have pretty good articulation for its time. There are quite a bit of moving joints, but ultimately it falls a bit short by today's standards and Arcadia should have updated it a little in their recent re-issue. Specifically, the hips could do with a proper drop-down function to enable a wider & more dynamic A-stance and in this regard, the HMR is far superior by not only having said full drop-down hips, but the side skirt pieces also pivots upwards out of the way. Pilot in cockpit still a nice touch though, even if he will be completely hidden most of the time.

I'm seeing the Blue Legioss still hovering at retail price on Mandarake, although none are available at this moment. But perhaps it might cheaper for you to get at local stores if reissued.

Well, the announcement of re-issues for the whole gang will likely push the Tread even further back. Possibly to 2025? Even if the Tread is officially announced & eventually released, I hope it won't be afflicted with first mold issues like their Ride Armor & Legioss.

I am seeing it at some of the other usual sites besides Ami-ami: HLJ: https://www.hlj.com/1-7-scale-macross-f-sheryl-nome-tsukuyomi-ver-shibuya-scramble-figure-erm94121 Hobby Search: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/11022390 Hobby Genki: https://hobby-genki.com/en/estream/23420-shibuya-scramble-sheryl-nome-tsukuyomi-ver-macross-frontier-17-scale-figure-limited-edition-4580769940244.html BBTS: https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/254272?o=4

I remember those. Yet not so sure if the first re-issues have already fixed these ones, just not enough impressions of them. I'm guessing no news is good news.

Sentinel seems to have finger on the pulse of secondary markets, and reissues are common, which is a good thing.. If referring to the missile tubes that always become disconnected from the front fork, I think the first re-issue have already fixed that.

Didn't really like the way these Ghosts were used for the 31AX, but as a standalone piece I pretty like it. Too bad it doesn't have any landing gears, so I pretend its wings+boosters can double up as one like many sci-fi ships do in movies.
