Bandai's Ghost sculpt is slightly different from Yamato's, there are tiny intake slats at both sides of the top hull, whereas Yamato's are missing those. So Bandai's appears to be closer to the line art here. Pretty surprised it is only Yen 2,000 more for the Ghost & all its associated parts, so that is somewhat positive news? Bad news is that Bandai looks to be (unsurprisingly) sticking strictly to the anime. It is unlikely the Ghost being given integrated landing gears when the main valk doesn't, and perusing the parts list doesn't reveal any additional plug-in gears. Tellingly, there isn't any additional sensor pod to plug to the top of nosecone for the Ghost to be displayed on its own. There's no way to know yet, but at this stage I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai will not even make the front canards movable to switch between standalone & integrated 'Angel' mode. Edit: Pic below shows the Ghost canards on its down position, so they don't look to be movable.

The good thing is the covers are clear enough to show off the inner details quite well. I was always questioning the purpose of Yamato's version which have enough opacity to obscure the details underneath.

Happen to like the blue that Bandai used for the DX Max. Like Kakizaki's DX green, there appear to be this slightest of metallic undertone that gives off the most delicate of luster under the light. Hopefully this HMR Max has the same thing, but so far from pics it appears to be missing this element.

I also had the same sentiment at one time - the TV valks look too plain so held off from getting one.. Eventually when I got the 1/60 v2 Kakizaki TV, it kinda changed my mind. Perhaps call it mental gymnastics lol, but it's just the way the lines flow from the nose to the fuselage relatively uninterrupted by other colours or design elements that I feel better shows off the VF-1's lines & curves. In Yamato's implementation at least, the tight & consistent panel gaps also helps quite a bit to sell this illusion.

Looks really good! Although both are at different scales, somehow they look quite right in comparative size..

Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1S Strike Battroid Valkyrie (New to the forums :D)

Very nice build.. really like the cool white color chosen. -
Perhaps Bandai might go the Arcadia approach for colors - which looks to be grey paint on white molded plastic many of the areas. Hopefully areas that are left bare white will not be translucent. CD Japan's price for Macross items is always the same range as HLJ or Amiami's, perhaps just a tad cheaper.

Always gotta admire the elaborate yet beautiful color scheme of the SV-262Hs.. Meanwhile, still waiting for the SV-262Ba, Bandai!

Cool

So yeahh.. agreeing with sentiment that the other 2 sound force VFs will look terrible in Fighter based on those sculpts. Wonder if Bandai is just showing them to pump up hype for the VF-19 Kai for more people to buy it in hopes for the other 2 to be released, and then make them quietly disappear from future events. The sculpts though, would work better if they make the HG Shortcut Change kit version?

Scattered on earth along with the YF-21 ..But really hope to own a version of it someday. -
It's been more than 10 years since I watched Frontier series - I had no idea of the significance of Frontier then so went in totally blind. It quickly became apparent in early episodes that it was a big homage to the original Macross, so naturally thought Ozma would die like Roy did in one of the episodes lol.

I have to break out the 1/48 Stealth one day. Now I think about it, Bandai should do that scheme for their Chogokin 50th instead lol. Yammie / Arcadia's Fire Valk have pretty perfect proportions in Battroid. Mine has been in storage since the day I got it, so I'll live vicariously through others' pics. Nice!
-
But but.. Yammie YF-21 looks positively anorexic by comparison Edit: The camera lens talk make me realize how phone cameras have such distorted lenses. The front end of this YF-21 now looks comically large lol
-
I'm sure Alto still kicking himself for not realizing this right up till the end Thanks and really appreciate it. It means even more coming from the top photographer here.

Simply stunning @Saburo! Its nice that MoShow have moved beyond KO and started making high quality toys on their own.

Thanks for posting the video @Froy I'm warming up to Fighter mode even more now. Not sure if Bandai did something, or as some have pointed out it could be camera lens differences then & now, but the whole nose in this video look sufficiently long now almost like Yamato's. With the sharper line definition & curvatures, it now actually might look even better than Yamato's in this area. The Fast Pack looking as thick as it does, and with the grey contrast actually gives the illusion that the bare YF-21 underbelly is appropriately slim. It like how some cars have dark-colored skirtings or bumper lips contrasting with the body colour to make it look lower or slimmer. I suspect this YF-21 Fighter looks better with its Fast Pack than without, because without it will expose more of the blue underbelly and we'll see more penguins. Battroid still looks janky though. On side note, happy to see that the HMR VF-0A is also more grey than blue here - colors almost the same as Arcadia's.

Haha we hope new Revival 171 fixes the issues, but I'm not putting that high hopes. The 'fixes' that Bandai did for the Revival 25 & 29 weren't very effective after all.
-
Nice observation. It does somewhat look like Guld is upright in this pic.
-
I never noticed them on my VE-1 before. Learning something new today lol. But you are right, the backpack is secure enough without using the locks.
-
Well, the DX VF-1 came after the VF-31, and that went back to ball joints so the YF-21 could go either way. I personally would not be surprised if the YF-21 uses ball joints since there won't be any additional weight on its back from the fast-pack..
-
Don't think double knee joints will necessarily be weaker over time compared to single joint with that weight; I think the concern should be more on the strength of the hip joints instead.
