  1. These 3rd-party TFs finally arrived, after 2-months voyage in shipping.. Transformation's simple, straightforward, with just the right amount of detail for their rather small size. But really, its the paint app that's impressive which lifts the overall appearance. Nice weathering touches, without being too heavy handed that can sometimes obscure details on other figures.. WW2 WW1 Bumblebee: WW2 WW1 Bulldog:
  2. Wow the best of Jap animation quality in its era! And no wonder, after Googling the talents behind it.. Though now when I look at the SDF-1 on my shelf, I should just have gotten a radish in place of it.
  3. Agreed on Cyclops. AY line releases have been a bit all over the place & hard to predict what comes next, but I do hope it eventually reaches him.
  4. This was actually the pic sometime ago that sold me towards starting the SHF Street Fighter & Amazing Yamaguchi lines.. Such epic Marvel vs Capcom gaming scenes to be recreated..
  5. Yeah the plastics of Yamato’s 1/48 & equivalent generation of valks doesn’t seem to have aged that well today. They don’t discolour that easily, yet seem to slowly become brittle over time. But to be fair they have quite a number of years in them by now. One of my landing gear door hinges broke last year just from trying to open it. Like others above, another had the super parts peg breaking just from normal installation. Still, not too bothered as they will essentially stay in fighter mode for most of their remaining lives..
  6. Weight of the parts aside, I find the YF-29 super parts are the best design among the all the add-ons for Frontier mecha. It actually integrates well & enhances the base valkyrie lines, and in Bandai's toy form, the fit & tolerances are quite perfect without unsightly seams or gaps..
  7. @sqidd That Woodland with custom SSP really looks great!!
  8. Without getting into whichever proxy you use & different fee structures, whether Buyee, From Japan, Zenmarket etc, there are normally 3 things I watch out for on Yahoo Japan Auctions itself: 1. Whether if seller is an individual or corporation. For corporations, there is a 10% local consumption tax on top of the bid price. 2. Whether if the seller details out the local shipping costs. Most reputable ones do, so do note where the proxy warehouse is located to know how much is the local shipping. At same time, a fair number of sellers do not list out the local shipping costs; perhaps just mentioning the local courier service name. This is where it can get slightly tricky because there are cases of sellers who charge an obviously exorbitant shipping fee independent of the actual shipping fee, perhaps wanting to make up for a low auction closing price, and there is nothing the proxy can do about it. In these auctions where shipping fee structure are not thoroughly specified, then I would pay more attention to the next item: 3. The sellers' rating. I read somewhere before in these forums that sellers' ratings work a bit differently in YJA, in that the seller can actually delete negative comments by buyers, which is quite a big deal. But it appears that most sellers in Japan have better sense of ingrained integrity than the rest of the world, ie eBay, so at end of day the ratings in YJA are more trustable compared to eBay. These above guidelines have served me quite well on the occasional items bought off YJA over the past 2-3 years..
  9. @RED WOLF All your pics are an inspiration! This particular one is amazing!!

    Bandai Sv-262 DX valk

I love this angle. It makes it look sharp! I still like looking at the nice stand out copper paint. SV-262 may be a bit involving to transform, but it doesn't appear to be that much more complicated than the Frontier valks? At least there aren't transformation 'traps' that easily breaks the toy, like the VF-171 knees or Yamato's VF-19 gerwalk joints. Looking back, the weight of the toy at first was initially disappointing. It's much lighter than the other Chogokin valks, especially its contemporary VF-31 valks that felt much more satisfying in hand to swoosh around. But once transformed to Gerwalk and Battroid, the lighter weight of SV-262 works to its advantage for easier handling and posing. I also remember all the joints were consistently tight and so will not feel like they will become loose with some casual handling.
  12. Wow!! Where is the love x 3000 button? I like how the mechs are mixed in nicely with the other figurines
  13. Another review of the Fewture Garland below. It's in Japanese, but it has sufficient subtitles..
  14. Vader's drink of choice when he comes home from a long and hard day's choke.. err, work..
  15. This revised KC mold just keeps looking better and better! Not sure if its the lighting or not, but it looks like the return of pink VFs ala Arcadia

A great addition to scale with the rest of the HMRs. I do find the fighter mode sculpt to be ever so slightly nicer than the Yamcadia 1/60s..
  17. Still a bit mixed feelings about the Fighters to be honest. The front half of them have curves like a classic valk, but the rear half are all angular in a way that reminds me of paper planes & spaceships I use to fold as a kid 100% plastic with metallic paint, so it feels really lightweight. I believe they were done with regular paint release as well.
  18. Some stuff that arrived recently.. Pop quiz, which of the above: 1. Have the exact same box size? 2. Are the same scale? 3. Designed by Kawamori? The HMR VF-4G Roy colours did turn out better than expected in hand. Or perhaps, it's just great to have more VF-4G variants.. For Fighter 1 & Fighter 2, too bad they don't come with pilot figures to match their opening cockpits..
  19. Gotta agree with @jenius's review. Overall, this SV-51 doesn't feel like a big improvement on Yamato. Yes Yamato's was quite a floppy mess, but Arcadia's iteration also doesn't give that much more confidence for long term durability of its joints.. I was thinking, perhaps its due to its spindly design that it's hard to make joints to be tougher / beefier without sacrificing line art. But then, I look at the SV-262 and it also has quite a number of intricate wing joints yet they don't ever feel they are going to get loose anytime soon from first handling. Can't help feeling some disappointment, and I wonder if it's T-Rex not bringing their A-game to this effort..
  20. Can’t believe how much difference the slightly canted wings of the Legioss makes. It just makes the whole fighter profile look that much more amazing.

*Hands-up* I hope Bandai release more schemes, cannon or not, because fighter mode is just so sleek that it'll be nice to do some VF-4 fleet building.
  22. Well, the Tread better have a beefy crotch connection piece then..
  23. Here I'm wondering, if Sentinel's Tread toy was made to be non-transformable and bomber mode only, how palatable would it be? It would certainly keep the costs down. After all, Tread seemingly exist in collections mostly as a bomber-mode add-on to the Legioss fighter / soldier mode - much like how Macross super packs / armors goes onto the Valkyries..
  24. I agree. The VF-0D took some time to grow on me. Battroid mode is still least favourite mode; somehow the combination of its grasshopper-like head & huge wings not being tucked in properly recalls to mind a kaiju monster. But fighter mode looks great and this PF weathering really makes it pop!

    Bandai Sv-262 DX valk

I watched a documentary on the Avro Arrow too sometime back, and no doubt it would have been an awesome jet! Back to the Avro Vulcan, I’m now quite convinced that the SV-262, design wise is an amalgam of both the Vulcan & J35.. just a geek thought haha
