  1. At one time, I was a bit ambivalent about the baby blue color. But glad I picked up this very same GNU-Dou, & came to like it a lot. Currently am waiting for the Doyusha VF-19A to arrive to match it in fighter mode. it’s funny how the brain rationalises getting all the variants. First we get the ones we like most, then we get the other secondary colours, then we finally get those variants or colours that were initially deemed the ugliest..
  2. I’ll tell myself to put this Max 29 with the rest of the Delta display. It belongs there after all. Or if he does need Miria to balance him out, I can put another Miria VF-1J from M7, as a sort of them coming together from solo appearances.
  3. Best way to test worldwide response is SDFM Macross release, but they likely still don’t want to go through HG. As other Macross series not officially released worldwide, they could be thinking next best thing is to give the next most popular Macross (Frontier) in SDFM color. Obviously it is a Max colour scheme, but they are not calling it so (as compared to HMR Messer’s VF-1S) because perhaps, I don’t know, just to be on safe side with HG? A 40th scheme also needs a link to the original SDFM after all, otherwise it’s not exactly 40th as well. Alternatively, as non-canon schemes don’t sell very well in their domestic market, perhaps they are looking to international to balance the numbers out, if that makes sense. Then if they see whatever allocated to international market, even non-canon, sells out too, they can then have the confidence for full worldwide release of everything else barring SDFM.
  4. Although Hargun is a partsformer in the show, it gives us a great looking lithe bike. And now that your put the Ride Armor bike side by side with it, it only dawns upon me just how massive the M23 bikes are in comparison. But i suppose it does make sense. Ride Armor bikes should be smallish (although not always portrayed as such in the anime) since they fold into a backpack for the rider, while M23 bikes need to be large to encase its riders within its chest. Seeing them together just highlights the size differences even more..
  5. This is the only pic that shows the back of battroid, but they did not flare out the hip skirts. So can't tell yet if it has the improved 3-screws arrangement on the back hip as per recent Alto's YF-29. But I guess the improvements are a given, since the hip mold for both VF-25 and YF-29 are similar right?
  6. I guess this will be the 40th Anniversary scheme. More excited for this compared to the past Tenjin repaints on the VF-1, because it means the mold will be refurbished for eventual Frontier re-issues..

    Hi-Metal R

Loving the VF-0S! It looks to be an almost indistinguishable mini-me of Arcadia's 1/60, just like the VF-4, and hopefully the mold has also the same modern fit & finish. And finally the Tomahawk confirmation is just around the corner. Looking ahead, if it took this many years for Tomahawk to arrive, I thinking the Phalanx might take another 10 years.
  8. Ah, there's a third mode. So the 'Tri' is not only referring to the number of wheels. I really do not know enough as I never watched the anime. Going by all the pics & illustrations of it, I suppose the wheels in armor mode are really its defining visual characteristic. Quite like what Pose+ has done with the overall sculpt in the prototype. Size looks a bit small though, in armor mode it seems to be the height of normal 1/12 figures at 6 inches. So the rider is perhaps around 1/15 scale? Shudder to think of the price though, Pose+ stuff appear to be at at least as or even more pricey than Sentinel. But it would be a great release for fans, and I might just jump on it too.
  9. I found the set for about the same price as well, at eBay for approximately $10 each. Kinda strange to not find it anywhere else, and suddenly this seller has a bunch of them as if he hoarded them all these years, or picked up a forgotten crate of them somewhere. I'm observing his stock comes in and out, he lists a few, and when they sell out he puts up a fresh batch. Perhaps pick up a second set, especially the Harguns..
  10. At 24 (well a bit earlier, perhaps 22) I picked up a copy of the Sega Saturn Macross: Do You Remember Love game, and had a blast playing it. I remember moments of confusion as somehow some of the cutscenes in the game were not what I remembered of the Macross TV show, and it was only much later I realized there was a Macross DYRL movie. It was then a series of more pleasant discoveries finding out the very cool opening cinematic of the game was made exclusively for the game, and even much later after discovering DYRL, the Minmay concert credits scene in the game was lifted from FB2012. Hmm accomplishment? Well, I finished the game
  11. Some old Organic Megazone 23 figures, and Garland catalogue by R-Area:
  12. It's fun to hunt for older figures. I had the Organic original Garland for a while, and wanted the rest of the set. As I understood, they were shelf warmers when they were released due to rather high MSRP for essentially non-transforming, trading-sized figures then. But finding the rest of the set was tough in past year or so, until recently: If I'm not wrong, the GR-2 and Harguns are till date the only toy representations of them available? Pretty happy when they finally arrived; these should make great filler displays against the larger transforming Garlands. The brochure is also a recent arrival, a fan-made Garland catalogue by R-Area: 1000hp transforming bike anyone? For rather low price of only less than $90k
  13. Hmm.. As I am appreciating bike mecha more & more, I really want to like the Tri-charger. Yet my biggest issue with its design are the huge wheels sticking out of the shins, looking somewhat unresolved, and just looks wrong. I imagine it will a real chore to walk with huge weights on your knees or shins. There should have a way to move the wheels somewhere to the back, perhaps at the butt below the front wheel, even if they cheat a little by just simply unplugging them from the shins & sticking them there.
  14. At the moment, the only way to have Zentraedi ships will mostly be resin kits and 3D prints, and something I try to avoid as much as possible due to limited paint skills. Now that there's ceasefire between BW & HG, I wish a company like Eaglemoss would take the mantle to produce all the Zentraedi & other capital ships in Macross universe just like what they do with other franchises. Don't mind if the scale would be pretty small, but it will be fantastic to have representations of all them.
  15. On the B2Five ride armors, I watched a FB video not too long ago where the designer was introducing the toys, transforming it on-screen with some discussion on their design philosophy. The designer is from Hong Kong, & is actually the same guy behind the recent & very excellent Pose+ Baikanfu. Some takeaways: 1. It is not perfect transformation, yet nowhere near the huge partsformer of Megahouse's. Only the front forks are removed from bike to armor mode and stored aside. This is for practical purposes at this scale for the transformation & posing in armor mode, plus to avoid overengineering & complexity like CM's. 2. The designer intended this to be a desktop toy, to be fiddled frequently, quickly transformed back and forth & easily posed with the included stand. From the video, the transformation process is pretty straightforward, & the pre-production sample he was using to demonstrate the transformation look to have pretty good tolerances (unlike the CM's, those were quite a nightmare to transform). 3. The stand has peg holes all around it to plug in all the accessories - extra hands, head / helmet, weapons etc. Once everything in on the stand, the entire toy can be moved just with one palm. No need to look for a separate parts bin. 4. If sales of the initial 3 armors are good, Houquet should be offered up next. So, this could be another line where we might have the complete 4. I was quite lukewarm on the B2Fives before this, but the video made me very interested in PO-ing them. I just can't find the link now, will post it up when I come across it again. Edit: Found it https://fb.watch/9cmGSJIIGY/
  16. Anime Export has it as well: https://www.anime-export.com/index.php?product=54467
  17. It's also a big relief the color isn't a hot pink, like the pilot figure that came with the Legioss Zeta.
  18. it’s been a long time coming, but.. Woo hoo finally!!!
  19. Ah space... early on in the collecting journey, display space was the big headache. Need more cases, then need more rooms. Boxes were a minor problem; they were just shoved into whatever available space in closet or corner. Then later it became obvious, the boxes were the biggest problem. Because even if run out of display space long ago, the boxes still need to be dealt with as the toys keep arriving. Came to a point where we probably need a 1:1 ratio of display real estate to boxes storage space..
  20. I'm happy with the Yamcadia GBPs.. but Bandai's tampo printing just makes it look miles better.
  21. Quite amazed that the Lancia Stratos' design still looks fresh today, as when it debuted more than 40 years ago That Tyrell is another outrageous design which really stood out to this day. No doubt it directly influenced Kawamori when he did the mecha for the Future GPX Cyber Formula series. Though I've never watched the series, I've been humming and hawing on the toy when it was on PO last year. And look, its the same scale as the Tyrell!
  22. When I looked for my copy not too long ago, I went by what was shown in Mandarake: https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/listPage/list?keyword=Aoshima Gokin Airwolf&lang=en Looks like there’s at least 4 different versions: 1. Standard metallic dark blue. 2. Metallic black. 3. Matt black. 4. Matt black & weathered.
  23. Great pick ups! Cool Bond Esprit and an even better Blue Thunder..
  24. Well, next 2 DX releases are the VF-31J Speakerpods in Oct, and the VF-31AX in Dec. Going by previous years, the next DX release likely to be only in April 2022. Whether it will be another VF-1 at that time is up to speculation, but since the new Delta movie is coming out next month, I think it'll likely be another Delta valk release.
  25. ePacket from JPost is the same as Airmail Small Package from other vendors. Slower than EMS, but faster than the old SAL method.
