I attended last year's Super Dimension Convention and was fortunate enough to get to this year's as well. So many great vendors, interesting and informative panels (particularly the Rarest Collectibles of Anime & Mecha with Shawn & Tony), and truly cool people indeed. Getting to meet Jenius from the Macross World Forums (of Scorched Earth Toys/AnyMoon.com fame) was a real treat. An incredibly nice guy. Adrian, Gwyn, and Mike from the SpearkerPod Cast crew were beyond generous with their time...letting me pester them with questions throughout the day and into the night. I was already impressed by Mari Iijima's concert from last year, and thought this year's was even better. The crowd for this year's Idol Contest and Mini-Concert was really into it as well: both last year and this year were truly entertaining. Although last year's emcee (an outstanding Lynn Kaifun) decided to take a break, I thought Burbeari did an excellent job (both energetic and engaging). I'm leaving out a number of other people that I got to meet and talk with, as well all the other events/things that drew my attention throughout the day, and can only conclude by saying it was a day well spent with other Macross fans. Thanks to all involved with putting the convention together. It truly is something special.

Finally had a chance to unpack my VT-1. The color difference between the molded and painted parts is indeed noticeable, but under natural light and a casual view it's hardly remarkable. Despite the color issue I think it's ultimately a great addition to the collection. Really glad I picked this one up.

That color difference between the molded plastic and painted parts is really unfortunate. I know there have been other pictures where the difference isn't so noticeable, but it's still disappointing to see it...particularly the divide between the cockpit and the fuselage.

VT1-Super Ostrich incoming and Nex's VF-2 on the November horizon. If this is it for 2018, there will only have been 4 Hi-Metal R (Macross) releases for the year. Not sure what this means (if anything) for future HMR Macross releases, but I do hope they keep 'em coming...even if it's at a slower pace. Just trying to keep hope alive for that Tomahawk we keep getting teased with.

It's always those non-Macross releases that throw me off. It'd really be interesting to know how many each of these releases were produced and/or sold.

So, we've got the VT-1 scheduled for an August release (from an April 2nd pre-order), but nothing beyond that at the moment. I wonder if we're going to get an announcement this month? In the later half of 2017, we had the Defender released in August, the VF-1S (35th Anniversary - Messer) in September, the VF-2SS in November, and the Regult Missile set in December.

No issue with my Hikaru VF-1A leg armor. Sorry you guys are having to deal with this, and I hope if you're reporting it back to the vendor it's in turn being brought to the attention of the manufacturer. I think this line has had quite a good run with quality assurance, and here's hoping they can keep it up for the duration.

I'm going to have to re-check mine tonight to confirm there's no issue, but I didn't notice anything when it arrived.

Received a shipping notification from HLJ at 10:30 PM (PDT) last night for Hikaru's VF-1A Super. On the way!

One week to go! My last HMR purchase was Max's VF-1J (November 2016), so I'm really looking forward to this one, and with the VT-1 coming out in August...I've got no complaints this year.

Sounded like you guys were having a lot of fun this episode (or maybe it's something in the Tokyo spring air). A lot more conversational, but really enjoyed listening in on this one. Thanks for all the details about the Noriyoshi Ohrai exhibit as well. Clearly had an impact on all of you.
