Maybe we shouldn't post Robotech comic covers here since it ruins the mood.

Ghost in the Shell Live Action - March 31, 2017
hachi replied to Mechinyun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nice video, I will go through his other stuff. Next time we really should not get our hopes up when it comes to adaptations (I was also disappointed a little with Valerian). With just the director alone, it is obvious that Mamoru Oshii >>>>>> Rupert Sanders. I hope nobody gives Rupert Sanders another chance to ruin another property. (But it's Hollywood, he probably has the connections to direct another day...)- 751 replies

Those character designs are awful. So you posted this here to make our eyes suffer too? haha I just 'unearthed' my copy of the Gundam Origin volume 1 last week and I am so jealous of the hardcore Gundam fans. Imagine what could have been, a hardcover, English-translation of a Macross manga! (Though I don't like Macross The First that much.)

I have never seen John Wick that's why I can't do any comparison. I also usually don't delve too deeply into the artists' politics/offscreen behavior but I do avoid movies by actors I don't like (if I can). I guess ignorance is bliss lol

I'm debating with myself whether to rewatch the movie again (if it's still showing this weekend). Or maybe I'll just listen to youtube instead? The soundtrack just transports me to a different time.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
hachi replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
On my 3rd try of watching Gundam Unicorn. I just got past episode 2. I'm skipping Zeta and the rest because I do not have the patience to watch them. -
Blame! Safeguard https://hlj.com/product/1TY39105/Act Blame! Killy https://hlj.com/product/1TY39104/Act I preordered the Safeguard because of its weirdness. I was thinking why not? I already paid for the HMR missile-type regults so I will dipping into the Xmas bonus to pay this one haha. I'm on the fence with Killy though.

Just saw this. Good movie.

Oh that explains why it isn't that popular. I like the mech designs however the review tells me I might get bored.

Added these guys that I am now following: Demizu Posuka - I haven't read Kirugumi and Yakusoku no Neverland, but I like what I'm seeing from his posted art. I had also considered getting his artbook but it hasn't really found its way into my official list of want-to-have artbooks. Maybe one day... Feng Zhu - Veteran designer who has his own school in Singapore. Quite expensive. I was actually in the process of going through his Youtube tutorials this month but I got sidetracked and haven't finished. Following him now most especially for the tweets on new videos.- 33 replies

I added IZMOJUKI / Junji Okubo. He is a Japanese artist/mechanical designer and author of Industrial Divinities. It is timely as he is running a campaign for Industrial Divinities 2017. Unfortunately Japan only, but I hope there's something for international buyers next year. I also now have my own twitter account, and I am following IZMOJUKI, sparth, Thomas Romain, Mateusz Urbanowicz, and Ben Mauro. Only these guys for now as there's already a lot of tweets and retweets.- 33 replies

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
hachi replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
OK, so I read Ambassador of the Shadows, where most of the movie's inspiration came from. Maybe Luc was 'stretched' too thin getting this movie made? He could have done the first 2 Valerian stories and since they didn't involve aliens the budget could have been lower. I also do wonder maybe he didn't think he could make another movie so he just poured everything into this one with all the aliens and special effects. OK I'll be off to Reddit to see what the long-time fans think.- 52 replies

Okay. I have some extra money since I cancelled my HMR Defender PO. Good decision, I want more Regults!
-
TWE! So the next question is, will NY demand upfront payment for this?
-
Awright! Is this a web exclusive? Because if not PO day is going to be a nightmare T_T

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
hachi replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I saw it today. Good visuals but I'm not satisfied with the flow of things. They should have started the movie to when Valerian met Laureline. Even though I had read the first few issues of the comics looking at it objectively it was not easy to follow. I would probably have been confused if I didn't know what Valerian was all about. The leads were OK, I liked Cara better though. As for Rihanna, hhmm, Chris Tucker was more entertaining. Anyway, at certain times in the movie, I would think, yeah, The Fifth Element was better. Sorry Luc, better luck next time. Edit: Yeah it's not great but is not Jupiter Ascending bad. With JA I was waiting for the movie to mercifully end and not waste any more of my time.- 52 replies
