    I think the backlash on Aya Hirano was her self admitted whoring herself to multiple guys at the same time. The no dating thing existed in the 80s like in White Album 1. Idols sell a fantasy of being available to the fans and also covers male idols as well.

    I've never seen any dating restriction to Minmay, Sheryl or Ranka or Fire Bomber. And Kawamori always shows the flowery side of being an idol not the dark parts when it comes to Macross at least. AKB is different cake.

    Who says Idols can't date in the Macross universe? I mean they can't in real life but in Macross universe they are reveared ever since Space War 1 and I doubt they'd give that restriction.

    Nah thats just bias and nostalgia glasses. I cant get over how comically otaku they were and even had one of them crossdresding. So far I have yet to see anything in Delta that beats the level of slapstick in sdf1. It was an 80s anime through and through complete with 80s slapstick.

    That's nothing compared to the first episode of Shirobako introducing 20+ characters. That show turned out great with each character getting some focus and more characters are introduced later. This is common in American TV shows too.

    I hardly see how Delta characters are any more cookie cutter than Macross. Its not fair to judge since there are only 3 episoes. Hikaru, Minmay and Misa were hardly origial and deep characters when they first appeared. They had an entire series to develop over the course of 34 episodes.

    Yeah you got me there, some plant eaters are nasty. If a species didn't have violence as a natural characteristic, I doubt they'd survive for long.

    Are you saying violence isn't some natural, intrinsic thing present in all life forms in the universe? I definitely think it is. Violence in itself isn't a bad. Violence will always be a part of all species evolved from predators, enlightened or not.

    Being devil's advocate here. Perhaps NUNs wronged Windemere in some way that their secession was justified but that powers that be in Windemere evolved to a Xenophobic stance. It's not the first time in history that a larger more technologically advanced civilization stepped on the toes a smaller, weaker one.

    Sure, bit for me its a particularly shallow eay of watching any form of media. I think most of you got Messer all wrong. He's prety chill and a man of few words but generally agreeable. That smile he cracked in the OP was pretty telling. Mirage will be the only problem Hayate will be facing from the Delta Squadron.

    Macross is all about the combination of fights the music and the bridging of cultures. I already see some of the Aerial Knights defecting to Delta Squadron or maybe outright replacing casualties.

    Gundam most popular anime? Hardly, also Gundam production comitees tend to want to stay safe with status quo space vs earth, psychics and mask men even when some shows didnt need it(Gundam 00 S2)
