It's just the same as the intake covers, they're removable too, so it's not like it's out of the question for Yamato to make the effort to include them.

I'm all for the removable face plate if it just slaps on top of the 21's face. Kinda like an armour plate he just slaps on during battroid-battroid battle. Coolness!
