Appears to be an orange version of the Tamashii flame effects set for the extra, actually.

Unfortunate it happened, but hopefully the fix wasn't too hard and doesn't look too bad.

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

But there's 4 color variations total. The grey-tone one, original X colors, X-Kai, and armored X colors. -
That's an impressive trick. How did you manage to snap the chestplate?
-
Would be a reasonable guess given there's not that much else from what I understand. The leg missile pods and the drones are all that's been shown so far, right?
-
I know my plan in general is for it to go to gerwalk mode and never leave it.
-
My parents both worked for Northrop around that time period so I may be a bit biased, but I'm among those that feel that the YF-23 got robbed. And yes the less said about the YF-32 the better.

I've never seen 7, and the preview for Delta turned me off immensely to the point where I never watched it. From everything I've heard that was probably for the best and I saved myself a fair bit of grief. Despite that I still like the VF-22, because I like the YF-21, because I like the YF-23. And the SV-262 looks neat as hell so I pre-ordered it blindly because hey a transforming Draken. It's probably never going to leave gerwalk mode, but I'll love the hell out of it all the same.
-
I've never even seen Delta, have no interest in it, and I pre-ordered the SV-262 because it's a transforming Draken and that is cool as hell. It's also pretty unique as far as valkyrie designs go in the franchise, which is another bonus. No reason you can't divorce the design from the series and enjoy it for what it is.

Probably, but I'm not recalling it offhand. Just sliding the gunpod into the cradle does seem to work, I just wasn't sure if I was missing some sort of magical trick regarding the adapter and gunpod or not.

Got my second VF-1A CF and VF-1J Max in today. Max had a bit of black paint on the forearm that shouldn't have been there, but it's small and its Max so it's not as if the FAST Packs are coming off for it to be seen. The second VF-1A was just as flawless as the first, too. My point of confusion is that it was mentioned that the VF-1As come with the fighter mode stand adapter meant for FAST Pack equipped valks, and this definitely shows. How the hell am I supposed to attach it with the gun pod on? It doesn't seem possible without risking breaking something. I just resorted to putting it on and sliding the gunpod into the cradle and considered that good enough given the way its set up has the top of the fighter mode to me anyways. It's not like you can put the adapter on THEN slide the gun pod into place properly, and putting the gun pod on first seems to just result in the front of the adapter not being able to clear the gunpod and settle into place. Am I missing something, or is the way I finally settled for about as good as it gets?

Oh Valkmas tree oh Valkmas tree~ That does look surprisingly good for how tightly together everything is.

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Atheonyirh replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Strike Gundam frame (Strike, Strike Rouge, Astray Red Frame) kits are probably about the best PGs for overall construction, durability, and posability. The Zeta Gundam tends to be a mess due its transformation mechanism, and it and the GP01 are both older ones that rely more heavily on screws that in my experience tend to be stubborn about going in and strip very easily. The MG ver 2 Zeta Gundam would likely be the best version of that specific design to get, like the other guy said. Unless you're really sold on the sheer size of a Perfect Grade kit modern (within the last, oh, 5 years) Master Grade kits are likely to be on par or even better than them from a purely technical/engineering standpoint.- 6025 replies

Lets be honest. You want at least one. Get at least one. It took me all of ten minutes of handling my VF-1A CF to go and order a second one.
-
You already know the answer to this. Get three.
-
Honestly this thread doesn't seem to move anywhere near fast enough to need to be split up.

It can, yeah. The neck piece pegs into that hinged piece and rotates around on that peg, and that piece has a balljoint that the head itself pops onto. The balljoint is not centered on top of the peg, and that's what gives you that extra bit of backwards positioning to get the head in position in fighter mode. Hopefully it makes sense and you get yours lined up right! True. Getting the Destroids done, the Zentradi/Meltradi power armors, and a few more valks to finish things out would be nice. That and actually releasing separate FAST Packs at some point. I just wouldn't mind getting Macross Plus and Frontier valks in the same scale. Hell, Macross Zero too why not. SV-51s and VF-0s for everybody.
-
I'm guessing those drones are going to be some sort of add on? Or are they coming with the base unit?
-
They'd be cheaper than the chogokins at least.
-
The tapering side of the neck joint should be facing the same direction as the face. The whole part is somewhat offcenter from the peg that connects it to the hinge, so when the head sits on it properly and you have it rotated forward for fighter mode the head nestles in between the forks of the leg bar and the whole thing can tilt inward to get the visor flush. I think my efforts to roll the head around to get it through the gap during transformation ended up rotating the whole neck assembly to sit backwards, that or it was put on backwards. Not sure which, honestly. If that doesn't help I'll grab a picture or two.
-
Huh! The head on my Hik's VF-1J most definitely not sit flush with the nose. Turns out that either the neck was backwords or I'd managed to reverse it wen messing with things and trying to transform it. Now it sits quite flush instead of the entire head sticking out. Nice.

Oh well. At least with Millia there was no desperate, mad scramble to pre-order within a ten minute window or desperately hoping to catch the brief windows later where it pops back up. MyKombini at least had their usual 50% deposit on it until they realized the demand was there and spiked it to the 100% most places ask now.
