While vs. polls are predominatly stupid. Such as some of the mentioned polls, others can be constructive like Vf-19 vs. Vf-22 for example or Vf-1 vs. Hikaru's Magic Bike.

In the end since both Vf are close to even in ablitiies, it goes down to the pilot. Example, look at what Isamu did in the VF-11 in the begining of Mac plus. Compare that to how the 11s were cannon fodder in Macross 7.

Hellsing, its would not be a large strech to get it to look good.

Because its Earth, evnen though it was damaged, people still want to live on it. The homeworld is important, coloines are good but they need a central hub. Earth was that hub. And besides, the Grid allowed Isamu to blow stuff up, and pull off some crazy stunts while flying. B)
