So "Hit-Monkey" gained a movie
(Joke, that's a joke)
I like his little car. This looks entertaining

Ahh! Very clever! Thanks for the explanation. That was very instructive and helped clarify a lot.
The top and side-walls of the old girl are done and dusted.
Matte coat on and window masks removed.
If you hold the ship right up close you can see Han and Chewy in there, but Leia and 3P0 are nigh on invisible.
Oh well.
Now I gotta do the bottom and then fashion and paint some Asteroids.
Here's the main ref. I used for the weathering details.
Nice paint and build. Now we need some head on pictures

My problem with seed designs is that they looked fairly new in the original series, but eventually it just started looking more like build fighters versions of mobile suit designs.

New MS designs leaked two days ago and not a single posting about it on MW. This disrespect towards Gundam is unacceptable and must be corrected!
It’s probably just due to it being seed related. It’s kinda tough to get excited for it

I'm still surprised by the lack of mass retail collectables for these 2 films. Asides the gummy McFarlane figures and the Lego wallet bruising set, there isn't anything else. Looks like they're not aiming for younger or collector audiences? The lack of miniatures both in diecast and plastic is rather baffling, especially how brands like hotwheels is milking licenses on that turf.
There’s also a few little model kits

It's repainted, using stock decals, right? Shouldn't be too tough to copy if one wants.
At first I thought it was based on the Hasegawa Moon Shooters kit.
Actually after looking at the parts, they just recolored the yellow plastic to a tan grey and the blue to a basic grey. Other parts got changed to a darker grey, but it appears as though he didn’t even need to replace decals. The kit itself has a lot of that yellow color separated. It’s a simple color swap, but looks really great

For Federation infantry I'm just probably going to use old ESCI plastic "modern" US infantry with helmet rims, rifle carry handles and a lot of pouches hacked off, then those weird vests moulded on with epoxy...
some of the max factory kits have pretty cool soldiers and characters. But maybe some 1/72 Vietnam era troops could work well for stand ins. Might just have to modify the helmets and the equipment a little

First time watching Dougram. Just finished episode 10 last night and love it. Originally I thought it was a little too close to the storyline of Gundam (rebellious colony setup) but it's proved its originality to me now. It does ground combat really well and the Dougram seems more vulnerable and "real" than the RX-78 ever did. I'm having fantasies about building the kits and running massive 1/72 wargames now...very tempted to order some Dougram kits..a lot of my real world 1/72 vehicles and terrain/buildings would double in the Dougram world...
It’s definitely a bit more complicated than the og Gundam. They had a good bit of growing up story wise after finishing what most call the first real robot series and it shows. Definitely more real and less of the super robot thing going on.
The new Max Factory kits are pretty great and the figures that come with them have great detail for the size. They’re not quite as articulate as the average Gundam kit and do require a little more work, but totally worth the work

Back to the days when Robin had a happy childhood. He got to replace his parents with a rich one and gets to beat people up and everyone is ok with that and occasionally gets to drive fancy super vehicles

Rant Mode ON -- WHY do companies NOT include 1/72 pilots these days? I mean sure, a "PRO" model maker always makes models with gear down, all hatches open, blah blah freakin blah! Well, guess what?! I wanna do gear up in flight badass looking jets WITH PILOTS! ARRGGH! So frustrating! (Not to mention the no gear up wheel door option, but I can kiiiind of understand that)...maybe..but a freaking tiny little pilot or two? IS that gonna break the bank of these huge companies?! And WHY does NO US COMPANY make anything worth a crap when it comes to model kit pilots?! Whatever....Rant Mode OFF.
Jets look great on the ground with all the stuff open and details exposed, but the dioramas and set ups that I get excited for are the in flight ones. I love seeing the pilots through the canopy. Car modelers love to show off the hood up with all the engine detail, but maybe I’m just a simple person because my attention always goes to that one dude that didn’t care about adding extra details to the engine that weren’t in the kit, but to that guy that somehow found a figure of a driver and made it appear as though the car was speeding down the road. Give me a little action over extreme details and I’m happy.
My usual rant is that companies sometimes decide not to include a simple set of waterslide decals or a good set of hands with sci fi kits. Bandai is often guilty of these crimes and will put out a kit that doesn’t have the basic emblem as a waterslide decal and often just throws in the J.O. hands. -

We watched this show a couple weeks ago. It definitely has its moments, but it felt a little like certain story and character elements could’ve used some work. Overall, it’s not bad and I’ve been craving churros ever since

To be fair - the original was going nowhere after the first few excellent episodes. The last few episodes, where the Cylons found them again were good too, the batch just before that were abominations.
I think you also have to think about it in terms of when the original came out. I’d definitely watch a bad episode over most shows that were on back in the day and especially when the show was in syndication. The show had the best looking effects that rivaled movies at the time and a killer soundtrack that sticks in your head that was a big part of great television at the time. I remember often sitting for reruns of it on a block that also would play Buck Rogers back to back and that was a great mix of sound action and great effects. I think the other option was the news or a court show and I’d watch either of those cool sci-fi shows over the other dull options.

I’d definitely watch the og show over the remake.
Although I am curious about this new reboot. Hopefully they do better looking effects seeing as how it’s been 20 years since the last version. And if it’s a lot closer to the original show, I’d be a lot more interested in the project

Why not come up with a new series instead of rebooting a reboot?
Because they’re hoping for the fandom to be a help boost audience numbers. I’d rather see something new as well if they’re gonna basically change almost everything about it, kinda like with Halo. But they’re afraid to put something out that has no existing franchise.

Also don't mind the gender swaps. Heck, I have a nascent BSG fanfic with Apollo being played by Lucy Lawless!
Oddly, Apollo in the og show was more feminine than Lucy Lawless

Believe it or not, it's the only Wes Anderson movie I've seen, but yeah, that's exactly how I feel. I mean, at no point during the movie was I bored or anything. It held my attention, which is more than I can say for a lot of movies these days. But after watching it I'm not sure I understood it. I could tell you what happened, but I'm still not really sure what it's about, or what Anderson was trying to say with it.
You’ve just described every one of his films that I’ve seen

Never did get a response. I figured it was because no one had seen it (or people were too busy with Rebel Moon. Now I'm not sure. My wife and kid were out today, and my gaming group cancelled, so I watched Asteroid City. And, frankly, I'm not sure what to say. I couldn't even tell you if I liked it or not.
I haven’t seen it. The guy that makes it basically does every movie in an odd quirky way and I’ve always finished them not knowing if I liked the movie or not. So I kinda skipped this one waiting to see if anyone had a different opinion, but most people just haven’t seen it

I never really cared for the last reboot. It’s probably because I used to watch the old version so much as a kid and would love to sit down for after school meals while it was in syndication. The reboot just seemed a bit too much, they also took every body’s favorite character and turned him into a her and I wasn’t really into the humanization of the cylons either. I probably would have liked it if I hadn’t grown up with the original series though.
Hopefully this is a reboot that is closer to the older show and has better looking effects
