The Acolyte - Disney Plus Star Wars Series
Big s replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Saw the second episode and this show obviously didn’t hire very good writers. I’d still say that so far it’s not as bad as the Obi show, but not as good as the boba show, even though that one wasn’t that good either. Good twin was totally hitting on the trainee. -

I guess the bar owner only recognizes her due to the fact that she made him put railings on the second floor of his bar due to OSHA standards. -

Yeah, there’s a bit too much cereal eating that seemed highly unnecessary. At least you made it further in the series than most people. I grew up with Star Wars having very little saber fights. The flippy goofiness of the prequels was a bit over the top. I kinda liked the fighters ship battles and droids and speeder chases that felt faster than 5mph. -
I had one of the smaller ones similar to it as a kid. It was kinda around the whole ninja thing while the show was going downhill

Just shows the power of an actual blade versus a Disney lightsaber stab -
Some of the upcoming releases have multiple decals. Like the Max/ Kakizaki 1A. I don’t remember if the sticker only first kit had a 1A head as well, but if it does, you could use the spares on it and have one for both pilots

I could easily see people hating Andor, if it was a review based on the first few episodes that they released. So many people never actually made it passed those and personally even I hated the show at that point. It got better mid way through the third episode and picked up as the show went on. But those first few episodes were really bad. I never read this guy’s reviews and not sure if he still hated the show after that point, but it seemed a common problem with the show even for the general audience. -
For anyone holding off on Hasegawa’s Queadluun Rau kit, it’s only $25 bucks on sale at hobbysearch.seriously, that’s a lot of plastic for a very low price

That would be the best way to handle Bandai’s mistakes

Godzilla Minus One - November 3rd 2023

I do have to agree there. I do however still think the award should have been for set design rather than vfx. That’s one of the odd standouts here. The cg isn’t the highlight for me . It’s the first Godzilla in a long time where I actually cared about the characters and I think that’s something lacking in films lately is just having a decent set of characters -

It’s definitely a good movie, my comment was just that it doesn’t look like best of the year material for vfx. But that doesn’t affect its worth as a watch and now that it’s streaming, I think everyone should try and check it out -

Those are pretty bad , but Godzilla wasn’t much better. It had that YouTube fan kinda look to it. But yeah, these aren’t very great. Not sure what else was in competition -
No, I’m really not as into action figures due to lack of space. Boxes away I have the older figure that lets you convert it into a MKII Gundam. I personally like models cause it’s something that really gets me hands on with the designs and feels like a higher value personally due to accomplishing a build.

Yeah, it’s gonna be ugly with a sticker covering the entire part. The decal might be ok, but I have my doubts that it will wrap around all the edges.

I unfortunately don’t think it’s coming with yellow hand guards sine they’re on the sticker and decal sheet, although I don’t think it would really be a pain for Bandai to include extra yellow parts. The main reason they’re not doing the lines kits more often is that the ones they’ve put out are very brittle. I’ve seen those little derpy gundams and they’re often broken or had to be repaired due to breaking. If that’s what this factory is focusing on, they may be trying to refine the material process for better endurance

Even the boat chase, which was a cool scene looks kinda cheap. The real items like the boats and crew are fine, but the cg is pretty bad most of the time, but great for being an extremely low budget film. Godzilla himself has what really looks like a fan film most of the time and as bad as he looks compared to bigger budget films, I still enjoyed this one better than some of the more flashy films. I think the set design is actually really great . That’s what should have won an award. The changes from blown up scenery to more and more cleaned up neighborhoods was what actually looked good. The acing was also far better than previous Godzilla films and blows away the absolutely crappy American Godzilla films. This movie is great, but not for its effects, but for the setting and story and characters I love low budget films and I also love cheesy B movies often more than big budget films. But I’m not gonna say they ever get to what should be Academy Award winning visuals. But like I also said above, I don’t really remember last year’s movies that well and maybe it was just a really bad year for visual effects. -

Yeah, but for the most part the visual effects are rather sub par. It’s still a good movie though, but those effects weren’t anything special. It had a very fan film kinda look. I didn’t hate them, since I know it was on a low budget. I really don’t remember much of last year’s movies, but like I said previously, they must’ve been really bad for this to be the winner in the effects category -
